The Mets did not get in to Chicago from Philadelphia until 4 am on Sunday morning.
David Wright, when asked if the late arrival played a role in the team losing on Monday to the Cubs, said:
“We got in late, but no excuses. We got shut down by a good pitching staff, and they got some big hits. Every body has to travel and get in late every once in a while, but Carlos Zambrano is the excuse for us losing tonight.”
Willie Randolph, on the same subject, talking after the game:
“No, no excuses for that. It’s early in the season. Guys got their rest, I’m sure they did. Will be OK.”
…what a bizarre lifestyle, when you think about it…as wright told Kevin Burkhardt on air before the game, they get sleep whenever they can find it – be it on the plane, at the hotel, on the bus, etc…it’s part of the job…that said, wright pointed out that if a player is unable to get excited about playing in wrigley, ‘They should check their pulse,’ which is what a fan wants to hear…
