Johan going against washington. we should look at the comments tomorrow and read about how willie is a genius for letting him pitch 7+ innings, and how the Mets really seemed to click. And yes, I'm kidding - but in reality, there really aren't too many good hitting good fielding guys available who can come in and make a difference. You're right about the money on Delgado, but I can certainly see him being put into a more limited role - which would mean that there's going to be another mediocre guy spelling him 1-2 times per week at 1B, and that will be someone Omar is going to have trade for. Not a good situation all around... I’d rather have Green over Delgado. He makes no sense to bring down to 1B. Pagan has never played anywhere other than the OF - not in the minors, not in the majors. If you're teaching him 1B, it will be a long learning process - not something he'll pick up overnight. It's a bad idea all around - we need to either sign or trade for a guy who can hold down fort until next year. I would certainly give Shawn Green a call... Church needs to stay in the outfield.
