According to Adam Rubin of the Daily News,
the Mets have signed 29–year-old LHP Eude Brito to a minor league contract.
…i was told he is a left-handed Ambiorix Burgos, for better or worse…
In 11 games for the Phillies, spanning 2005 and 2006, Brito allowed 24 runs in 40 innings while striking out 24 and walking 23.

Also read Rubin for information on Angel Pagan, Aaron Heilman and Luis Castillo, whose right knee is bothering him.
The Mets announced yesterday that Pedro Martinez will begin
throwing from a mound in 10 days or so.
…this would suggest he may not see a rehab start, assuming he makes one, until the end of May, which is what the team initially thought last week…
Also, Orlando Hernandez will keep his foot in a boot for two more weeks, while continuing to rehab a strained ligament.
…it was a good run, el duque, but the sun is setting, old friend…
For additional information on the team’s injuries, read Newsday, the Daily News, and the Bergen Record.
