Acta has nothing to work with in DC. Anyone he marches in from the pen is a disaster. And he’s clearly demonstrated in interviews that he has enough statistical knowledge to avoid doing things that clearly hurt his team. I don’t know how he is at managing a clubhouse but I can’t see how he is worse than Willie in that respect.

I’m not saying the guy is Connie Mack. I just don’t think it’s tough to be better at managing than Willie.

There is absolutely no way Castillo should be batting in the 2 hole…he is not capable of getting base hits. Even if he rips a ball, the outfielders play so shallow that a typical single is now a flyout for castillo…He has proven he is not capable of hitting a ball past an outfielder…so the only way he can get a base hit is by hitting a dribbler for instance like we saw him do tonight. I dont see him finishing the season with a batting average higher than .240

good game, a win. good to see beltran perhaps coming out of it and maybe castillo on to something. santana got it done but i wish he had that one back. sanchez and wagner looked good. lastly, they were running, which is also a good sign, being agressive.

a little upsetting to see reyes being swing happy and getting all over the first pitch, but at least it did not hurt them tonight. all in all, with jose and david doing nothing they got a win which is what we are all looking for.

HA! Just got back from the game – and as usual, lots of Mets fans in attendance. That’s I believe five in a row at Nats Stadium/RFK that I’ve seen the Mets win. I need to go to all their games in DC.

This game just reassured me that Delgado is the root of all problems in this lineup, not Castillo. Today, in spots where Delgado would pop out or strikeout and kill the rally, Church came through. Castillo is going to be fine in the 2 hole as long as there are 2 players behind Wright who can drive in runs. Let’s see if this can work for two days straight….
