Run a 1-10 rating poll on the direction of the team (actually acts as an Omar approval rating), and a 1-10 approval rating poll on Willie.

So if the Willie line is above the Omar line....we feel Omar is the bigger issue.

If the Willie line is plotted below the Omar line....we feel Willie is the bigger issue. I venture to say that Willie is sitting well below Omar right now.

Now, It would be great if a poll can be devised that isolates our opinion of the players...and only the players. Call it the talent poll, the 'Heart" poll, whatever. Then plot that against the linies above. Problem is, any polling about the players will always come back full cirlce to to Willie or Omar. So that one would be tough to build.

But having those 3 data points would be very interesting.

Have you every thought about how it is called YES? It is totally appropriate. They have a bunch of YES men discussing how glorious the Yankees are...

i'm sorry, but i really have to stick up for matt here. SNY is forcing metsblog to take a more positive spin on the team? that is absolutely ridiculous.

SNY is not YES. have any of you actually watched DNL, wheelhouse, loudmouths? all these people do is scream about delgado and heilman and willie and any little thing they can get on this team about. everyone loves to complain about mike and the mad dog, but SNY's own programming can be just as negative. and whatever SNY has invested in metsblog, they have a lot more tied into their programming.

heck, ted berg writes directly for SNY.com and his columns tend to be much more critical of the team than matt's posts. if SNY was really looking to sanitize the internet of mets criticism i think they would start on their own content.

more often than not i disagree with him, but i honestly wish i had matt's genuine patience and optimism with this team. he's going to outlive me, that's for sure.

The bottom line is Willie did not know the rules once again with that play with Angel Hernandez the ump. He came out and admitted he is afraid to go out and argue. The ratings should dip 100% after making comments like that. The time is coming and i believe that is mid-may the latest where if this team is under .500 the only sane baseball decision will be to call for his head. We are not there yet but it is coming..

We're watching these games with a sense of urgency, almost as we were all doing last Sept....and the same urgency is neevr evident with Randolph. Take that "smug" attitude he has when dealing with the media, hence a plumeting approval rating.

We, the fans, have also taken a lot of criticism for being too hard on the Mets thus far in the early going(booing, etc.). Mike & Mad Dod were touching base on it the other day (not that I really listen to much of what they say anywyas). So the "harshness" towards Randolph could be considered an over-reaction on our part, to some extent.

THAT being said, unless you're a fan of the team, you really don't understand what last September did to us...it had a lasting effect, and I don't think many of us are over it yet.

Matt

Run two polls, twice a week for three months. Overall & Willie. If they mimic each other, then you're right.
