According to Adam Rubin of the NY Daily News, Brian Schneider has been sent back to New York with an infected left thumb which could require a stint on the DL.
Gustavo Molina could be activated to take his place.

What?
Anyone else notice Schneider get injured in last nights game?
I think it was on one of Milledge’s foul tips that caught Schneider in the thumb?
schneider’s left thumb is covered by a catcher’s mitt when he is in the feild. I don’t think the foul tip did it this time.
It was his right hand. He had the hand behind his back and Milledge fouled it off the plate then the ball spun back between Schneider’s legs and nipped him on his fingers. This is certainly it…unless he cut it somehow after the game…
no it’s not. he hit his right hand. it is his left is infected.
Timing sucks on this one. Right before a big series with the Braves where Mets pitching will have to be at their best vs. Hudson and Smoltz.
Instead we have to have Casanova who calls a crappy game, or a relative unknown.
Can they have Schneider call the game from the dugout?
“Can they have Schneider call the game from the dugout?”
GREAT idea!
Get Schneider a seat behind homeplate!!!
Mike Piazza anyone?!
No.
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.
Honestly, what are the chances he does worse than Casanova and the Other Molina?
Castro, please!!! Hurry up buddy… You don’t run anyway, let’s get a good look at you.
Great. Can’t wait to see Casanova go 0-4 on a nightly basis!
In all seriousness, assuming Schneider is on the DL, who is next on the depth chart to be the backup?
Gustavo Molina would be next in line if Schneider has to go on the DL.
any chance mike nickeas gets called up?
yea slim to none
Infected …. left … thumb? Ugghhhhhhh.
Snake bit…
Next thing we’ll find it it had to be amputated…
come on, be practical. lol
Expect the unexpected with this franchise…
He should have quit smoking sooner……there goes his left thumb.
that stinks…especially since the starters seem most comfortable when he is calling the game
i am afraid for mike pelfrey. mike REALLY like haves brian behind the plate
*likes having
Where is Defeliece? It’s about that time of the year when the Mets sign him.
Tampa Bay beat them to it…
Yes, and then DFA’ed him. Hey Mike, I think you can get your job back!
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? (and can she catch?)
Better Carmen Sandiego than Benito Santiago.
No good
Let me get this straight:
Infected left thumb
Stiff Neck
Hernia
Bunion
Are we talking about a team of relatively-young, conditioned athletes or the convalescent wing at an old folks nursing home?
What’s next, a broken hip? Cataracts? Alzheimers?
didn’t we have the hip problem last year?
last year/spring training
We had Alzheimers already too, at least in the dugout.
Art Howe struggled to remember whether Dontrelle was a lefty or righty.
Bubonic plague.
the injury business with this team is so bizarre… how the heck does he have an infected left thumb?
Hmmm, possibly the victim of an “elephant walk.”
LOL!!!!!
isn’t Castro just a matter of days away?
CRAP!!!!!
You mean Carp?
I can’t wait for Carp to get up here just so he can do something big and steal the back pages.
You know they won’t miss…
HOLY CARP!!!
Well Delgado used to be a catcher…..
