Read: Duk’s Interview with David Wright
By Matthew Cerrone - Apr 25, 2008 12:28 pm

In a post to Yahoo!’s Big League Stew, David Brown conducts a fun and unique interview with David Wright, during which they talk about topics ranging from Shea Stadium his GQ photo shoot with Jose Reyes to the contacts in Wright’s cell phone.

Asked what would happen if he traded places with Alex Rodriguez for a day, Wright said:

“It’d good for me because I’d be a much better player [laughs].  For him, not so much.  He’d be taking a step back in his baseball development.”

I saw this yesterday and it is just another reason to love David

  2. giuseppe franco_procede says:

David is too modest. Is that a good thing? It is. Plus as good as he is…I cannot wait to see him enter his prime! He’s a great leader with an huge upswing. Kudos, D-Wright…Kudos!

      Hey Giuseppe,

      What about the hair?

      • NYMetsGrrl94 says:

as long as David NEVER shaves his head again he has a very nice head of hair!

        • Ollie Ollie Oxen Free says:

I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s just that Giuseppe (the salon owner that he is) is expected to comment on his head of hair.

        • giuseppe franco_procede says:

Hey I’ll give Wright my product…Remember…I don’t own Procede, nor do I know a thing about Procede. All I can say, it works! Hell it worked on Busey…I think! lol

        • K-Hern says:

And he only has to use it ONCE…. every 90 days

        • Dirtysanchez says:

          lolll

        • Ollie Ollie Oxen Free says:

Anyone care to give an anonymous testimonial?

Guiseppe, please tone it down a little bit with the hair. Do you use the product?

        • giuseppe franco_procede says:

My assumption is NO. I’m sure he never used it. HA!

        • anditsouttahere says:

i think he uses it too much, like every 30 days. his hairline is getting dangerously close to his eyebrows. tone it down giuseppe, take your own advice. just once in 90 days

        • Ollie Ollie Oxen Free says:

I think he should put a little of it on his chest. Would be cool to see if he had chest hairs popping out. If they wanted to get really savvy, they could partner with Old Spice.

Is Procede hair and body right for me? Yes criminal. Once every 90 days. He would have crazy back hair!

        • TilMetsDoUsPart says:

Hooked on Procede…. I’m tellin Gary Busey — he’s the leader of the ring.

        • TilMetsDoUsPart says:

Giuseppe can also sell his product to his good ol’ brother Julio or even John. I bet they need some right now.

        • giuseppe franco_procede says:

Ollie Ollie Oxen Free…that was too funny. A HA HA HA! Nice cross-over. LOL.

        • Ollie Ollie Oxen Free says:

I’m just trying to give you ideas Giuseppe. And I don’t even own any part of it!!! I wouldn’t put my name on the line for gahbage.

      • nymetsjeff says:

I’m selling this treatment for hundreds of dollars in my LA salon to LA tool bags who will pay that much, when you can buy it right here, for $19.95.

I’m also selling bottled air for $389.99 when you can go outside and breathe it for free.

        Hey, I’m Guiseppe Franco…

  3. Zoe says:

I tried to comment with a link to the original D-Wright Jose GQ photoshoot, but it didn’t take. Whoever didn’t see the headband, Members Only jacket hilarity should google it pronto!

I do love David, but he’s a bit too much of a star now to get away with the “aw shux, I’m not that good” persona. You can dial it up a bit, D. We won’t worry about you getting a big head…After all, you’ve got the GQ sweatband to help hold its current size ;-)

    • backinbusiness says:

      No kidding…

A google of “david wright jose reyes gq deadspin” will quickly demonstrate why he is requesting full control over what they wear this time.

  4. Dirtysanchez says:

Gotta love this kid. Modest yet has a good sense of humor. Keep it up wright

  5. nym91 says:

How can you not love David?

  6. HoJoWright says:

I like the modest approach but no need to take it easy on the Nats and go 0 -fer. protect the plate and hit. I think he’ll have a great series this weekend against the Braves

  7. kiy-big says:

Is it just me, or does DW need to stop pandering to the media like he’s some innocent, lovable, incapable of doing wrong, country boy. As a matter of fact, next time some reporter asks him about the collapse, he should flip him/her off.

  8. jcervone7 says:

I think he just really is an innocent, loveable, incapable of doing wrong, country boy. Sure, I love the Sheffield types who tell the media to screw, but that’s just not Wright’s personality.

  9. sheaheykid says:

All in favor of trading the entire club except for Wright?

    Iiiiiiii….

    • sheaheykid says:

      and santana of course

      • zemonstar says:

        can we keep Hojo?

      • darkstar73 says:

as I look back on the 2006 season, I really wish we would have either won it all, or not even made the playoffs, because on one hand, maybe Mets fans would be satisfied right now knowing they won the series 2 years ago, and on the other hand, they wouldn’t have these ridiculous expectations that we’re supposed to win all these games, look like world beaters, and make the world series. It all stems from that season and the type of fan that became involved with the Mets and this online community.

  10. Ollie Ollie Oxen Free says:

Is anyone slightly concerned about this team?

    • Giaco says:

try listening to WFAN right now… everyone is flipping out

      • Ollie Ollie Oxen Free says:

Mike must be happy that it’s taking attention away from Joba giving up a run and getting his first regular season loss.

The way I see it, there is nothing wrong with this team. The only problems are we can’t hit, defend, get our starters thru 6 (except for the savior), or hold a lead. Other than that, we’re ok.

  11. nymetsjeff says:

The Austin Powers question was cool. But its true. Guys want to be him because we can all relate. We all realized that we couldn’t make the majors. We would go bonkers if we could just play for one day in the majors. He does it for a living and doesn’t take anything for granted.

Thats why we like the guy, he’s like you and I (except for the fact he’s a millionare, hits .315 in the majors, rocks Vitamin Water billboards, etc.)
