Mex_17 is absolutely right...this all comes down to the collapse and the lack of any accountability for it.

Let me clarify...

There is nothing wrong with writing about Delgado's woes at the plate online...booing him at the stadium however is absolutely wrong. There is a big difference. This website was invented for us to talk baseball and right now the baseball talk is how delgado is losing it. Shea was built for us to cheer on the mets. Does that make some sort of sense?

You Met fans are more stupid than I thought you would be...

I'm glad Delgado did not come out for a curtain call because of all the premature booing your throw at this team plus all of the REDICULOUS COMMENTS above you make about him and this team....You derserved no curtain call whatsoever!!!

Just wanted to note that castillos contract in year 4 will probably be lower than league average for a second baseman and he may very well be in a strict platoon by then. Given Omars options this year and next, I was never upset by the deal and belive Castillos speed is invaluable now that Gomez is gone and Reyes and Chavez aren't getting on enough to matter. Castillo nor his contract will ever harm the mets. That said Castillo .370 on base, .310 slugging, Reyes .310 on base, .392 slugging. I've always thought Reyes would add power and be a player who could drive in runs, why not switch them and see if Reyes responds. Castillo is what he is, but Reyes, in my opinion, is still learning and could be a chase utley type player if he was freed up a bit. He may never be consistent with his on base average. Let castillo get on like he always has, hes even stealing bases again, and let Reyes, Wright, Beltran and Church drive him in. Could any other team match them 2-5? it would be one hell of a mix of youth, speed and power from each spot in the order with no base cloggers and no slap hitters. The 4 of them are the mets best hitters and defenders, their most dynamic overall players. Why not group them together. Castillos worst full season on base percentage is still better than reyes' best. Let him fill his role and let Reyes develop.

How am I bi-polar if i say that delgado sucks but congratulate him for his game? I feel like he had a great game and there is no problem with saying that. On the flip-side i still feel like Delgado is done and i'll write about how he sucks as much as I want to because thats true. Just don't boo him...

HEILMAN FANS PLEASE READ THIS!
I'm puzzled by fans who still believe in Heilman. Hitters have him figured out. Hes been horrible against the braves and phils for over a year now, preceding by the crushing game 7 homer in 06 and followed by doing his best 07 Mota impression against everyone. Even if he turns it around(he won't) and had his normal e.r.a. around 3.00, would you seriously trust him in a tight game that matters at years end or in the playoffs? If he was bad against the padres and pirates that would be one thing, but the fact that philly and Atlanta own him renders him completely useless on this team. He gets booed BECAUSE MANY FANS DON'T WANT HIM ON THE TEAM ANYMORE and if you watch a lot of games and understand we're going to have to go through Philly and Atlanta to get to the playoffs, possibly facing 1 of them in the playoffs, we can't have him on our roster period. He's even less efffective in early innings- the guy wants to start, he deals with being the set up guy, he won't accept a role as a middling reliever long term. Who could blame him-hes got his pride and a much lighter wallet when he hits free agency. Like Willie, he does bring something to the table, he isn't worthless, but he is worthless to the goals of THIS METS TEAM. I'm not a hater, I'm not even completely sold that Delgado is done, and I have been saying all along Castillo would keep doing what he's always done and be fine. But Heilmans different. Because when we need him most he turns into Mel Rojas and thats unacceptable. On an unrelated topic does anyone know What Happened to Claudio Vargas?I thought we had him, but he isn't on any of our minor league rosters. I'm having a Torrealba flashback. Did we somehow cancel the deal or what gives?
