    Well, that sucks…

On another topic, is anyone else as charmed as I am by the heart-warming tale of then-28-year-old ace (and newlywed) Roger Clemens’ protracted dalliance with a 15-year-old girl?

    What a Great American.

    • effectivelywild says:

      He’s a great family man.

      • blains2000 says:

Which proves he would never take steroi—oooops.

        • signupcall says:

So pretty much he’s a cheater no matter how you slice it.

        • Danny1986 says:

          He brought this on himself.

By filing a defamation lawsuit and claiming someone tarnished your reputation leaves you open to public scrutiny. Clemens first placed his high character at the steps of the court, and now everyone [lawyers, writers, and investigators] gets to dig through his past and throw darts.

If he didn’t file that suit against McNamee, no way do we hear about this, or any other transgression that contradicts his ‘high’ character. Clemens knew how much dirty laundry he had, yet still filed that lawsuit. How stupid is that? The man is even dumber than I thought. Folks, we are talking about a complete rock head here with zero remorse or class whatsoever. More is surely coming down the road. Floodgates are open.

In fact, I bet the jackals are going through his college trascripts right now to see if his grades at Texas were legit.

This is a real life Tom Wolfe novel. Except the main character is actually guilty.

        • Koko says:

“Clemens reportedly told Petitte that he didn’t have sex with adolescent girls, but he did, on occasion, bring them home for his wife. “

        • khmustache says:

          line of the night…hilarious

        • gomets6091 says:

hahaha I think I just woke my roomate up with my laughter at that one.

      • The Glider says:

Hey, at least he repaid his wife when he got her new boobs and a free regimen of steroids and HGH.

    • Piazza3120 says:

Clemens is such a piece of garbage. I cant wait to do the radio tomorrow to pan him.

  2. NYMetsGrrl94 says:

    will Johan pitch tomorrow?

  3. Nate W. says:

    I wonder who gets bumped.

Perez is obviously better than Pelfrey, but having the off day and now the rain out lets the Mets split up the righties in the rotation if they want to bump Perez back a few days instead of Pelfrey.

    • MercuryMetsIn3008 says:

the can probally now go santana perez maine.. then pelfry. and get the 1 2 3 rotation down instead of the 1 2 4 3.

    • gameball says:

I’m hoping Willie takes this opportunity to move Ollie into another spot in the rotation, but I doubt this will happen.

I don’t like Perez following Santana in the rotation.

  4. Honest I says:

playing august 11th would make the mets play 23 straight days from august 5th to august 27th…

    • ntlrock1 says:

That is absolutely ridiculous. Why no double header?

      • Paid Like Mike Gallego says:

        For a few reasons:

        1. Teams hate playing doubleheaders. Ownership, coaches and players hate doubleheaders.

        2. The teams play an afternoon game on Wednesday. Playing 3 games in the span of 27 hours is not something that either team would want to do. Moving the Wednesday afternoon game to Wednesday evening would be problematic since the Mets would prefer to fly out to Arizona Wednesday afternoon (landing early Wednesday evening – 8:00pm/9:00pm) as opposed to after midnight (landing early Thursday morning – 2:00am/3:00am).

      • metsfan704 says:

Ernie Banks loved double headers, why don’t today’s players like them?

        • gomets6091 says:

there’s probably a lot of reasons, but short answer: they are spoiled, pampered primadonnas…

  5. pcmetsfan07 says:

This means Santana gets game 1 against the Yankees…if all things stay the same

  6. boozermetsfan says:

i hope so. i have good seats.

  7. Jova1931 says:

What a case of the Mondays

  8. metsin080910 says:

Why does this seem to happen only on days Santana is to throw?

  9. PacmanJones says:

Lets go Orlando Magic! Close out!!

  10. Danny1986 says:

Great….so now another full day of Delgado Curtain Call talk.

Remember the good old days of non-stop Manny Ramirez trade rumors and Anna Benson quotes?

    I miss those days.

  11. PhillR says:

So lame. I had REALLY good seats that I bought off of stub hub to see Johan.

Now I have 3 really expensive tickets to see the Pirates on a day when I won’t even be in the country. Meh.

    • AlreadyMissShea says:

Buy tickets at face value for tomorrow. Should be plenty for this series. Actually I think tomorrow is part of one of the seven packs, so there might be less than for a typical Pirates game, but there will be plenty of decent seats.

Hold on to the tickets from tonight for now. They are moving Jets Night to that August date. Plus Johan might be pitching that game anyway when it comes around. Those tickets might be just as desirable to someone when the date gets closer. Maybe you can make some of your money back.

      • bigchart333 says:

perfect post…i was all pumped cuz i bought these tickets randomly with my boys in a “i buy, u buy four pack”….
and it happened to be johans 2nd start (i was at his first) AND Jets night @ Shea (huge jets fan here, go GHOLSTON!!!), and now the game is called

but as long as Jets night (now day) is that same date AND i can use those tickets, im happier

ps–i cant just walk into the game on the 11th with my tickets from this game can i? i have to like trade them or something?

        • AlreadyMissShea says:

Unless they’re doing things differently now, your tickets for tonight’s game are now your tickets for the 11th.

I never read the small print, but I think you can exchange a ticket from a postponed game for another identical priced ticket during the same season. But other than that, tonight’s ticket automatically becomes a ticket for 8/11.

        • bigchart333 says:

thank u very much…the last time i had rainout tickets, i was at the game vs san diego, exchanged them for St. Louis tickets, which ALSO happened to be a makeup, so i got lucky with a double header, and it happened to be the game where McGwire hit his 49 and 50th HR, becoming the first player in MLB history to do so 3 or 4 years in a row….i dont remember who pitched the 2nd game, but WILLIE BLAIR gave up the HR in the first, in a hard luck loss, that much i remember

Thats right, i went there…Willie Blair

        • Necciai27 says:

Willie Blair…we got Blair along with Jorge Fabregas for Bernard Gilkey. Oh, and we threw in this guy named Nelson Figueroa. Dunno what happened to him. ;)

  12. zen says:

to ease the transition into santana’s win tomorrow:

    barry zito: 0-6 7.53era

    • PhillR says:

Yeah, how happy are we that Omar didn’t make that move?

On the previous discuss of blaming Omar and Willie- I have to say that there were VERY few moves to be made the last two years and the biggest move he might have made was not signing Zito.

    • K-Hern says:

      What a joke

    • iluvbuckner says:

As he gets demoted to the pen. A 7 year joke.

  13. swirlywand says:

Is anyone else concerned that this may mean that Heilmann gets rested up enough to come in the game tomorrow?

Or maybe that is JUST what he needs….some rest…argh…trying to (and failing) to stay positive!!!!
    LETS GO METS~!

    • AlreadyMissShea says:

Well I hate the idea of Heilman EVER coming in to relieve Santana. After falling to Johan’s changeup all night, they’d love to see Heilman’s. Much rather see Johan go 8, and then Wagner come in to slam the door. That would be nice.

      • MercuryMetsIn3008 says:

not a change heilman comes tomorrow if johan goes 7.

i doubt willie will hesitate to use sanchez on back to back days with the off day thursday,

  14. Nightlife says:

Damn it, this was probably going to be the only game I watched all week since Grand Theft Auto IV is being released tomorrow.

  15. BringBackDaveTelgheder says:

Why would this change around the rotation at all? We have an off day on Thursday so everyone can still throw on normal rest.

I only care because I am going May 12th and am slated to see Johan pitch :)

    • Paid Like Mike Gallego says:

It doesn’t necessarily change the rotation but it potentially changes matchups. For example, without the rainout, Santana would have pitched today against Pittsburgh and then on Sunday against the DBacks with Perez and Pelfrey pitching Tuesday and Wednesday and Maine and Figueroa pitching Friday and Saturday after Thursday’s offday. With the rainout, Santana pitches on Tuesday (4/29) against the Pirates and then next Monday (5/5) against the Dodgers with Perez pitching Wednesday (4/30) and Pelfrey, Maine and Figueroa pitching Friday through Sunday (5/2 through 5/4)unless they skip someone.

      • neiljphx says:

I’m sure you have this right but I hope not. I’m going to all 3 in AZ and I guess I just lost out on a Santana start.
        %$@(^#. Oh Well.

  16. darkstar73 says:

john heyman recently listed Omar Minaya as a GM on the hot seat this year, and one reason he gave, is that he replaced Rick Downs with Rickey Henderson as hitting coach. Fact check please?

    • Danny1986 says:

did he seriously say Henderson was the HITTING coach?

      that is unreal.

What AVERAGE met fan (or even follower) doesn’t know this?

      • AlreadyMissShea says:

Actually when the story first broke, that was exactly what it was. Rickey replacing Rick Down. Then Omar almost immediately said there was going to be a meeting to determine who would go where.

So maybe he meant that Rickey coming back was a result of Omar selling him to the Wilpons as a replacement for Down? That would actually be correct.

        • Danny1986 says:

RIckey did replace him. But not as a hitting coach, but as a member of the coaching staff, which is capped at a certain number.

Hence, my emphasis on the word HITTING.

        • AlreadyMissShea says:

Right, but when it was first announced it was announced as Rickey being the new hitting coach. They changed it up almost immediately so It just never materialized that way.

So Omar did sell Rickey to the Wilpons as being the new hitting coach.

  17. domosnacks5 says:

In other news, Barry Zito has been sent to the bullpen by the Giants. THANK GOD this guy didn’t land in New York. Could you imagine…

    • Jova1931 says:

Holy crap you read my mind. I mean I knew he wasn’t nearly worth his contract, but jeez how bad has he been? I know that the team is bad but still. Imagine if he was still in the AL. Thank goodness the Wilpons and Minaya were firm on their stance.

      • atrain311 says:

“Some of the best moves are the ones you don’t make.”

        • signupcall says:

Is this a direct quote from Delgado about not going for a groundball hit only a couple feet away from him so he can save his energy for the fist pump on the ensuing double-play? (Sorry, I’ve been caught up with the fist pump all day because I’m sure I’ll be back to his hitting after tomorrow.)

  18. DaWrightStuff says:

I was just watching SNY, the curtain-gate discussions are getting ridiculous. the Mets’ own station making such a big deal out of this?

    • metsfan119 says:

Unfortunately with a rain-out the story has another day to fester.

    • gomets6091 says:

so let me get this straight, SNY constantly drums up controversy on the air on its own network, but for some reason also has dictatorial control over the content on this site?

That’s almost as good as the people who simultaneously claim that George Bush is the dumbest man on the planet, but yet somehow also the evil mastermind behind 9/11 in an intricate plan conquer the Middle East for its oil reserves.

By the way, this isn’t directed at you DaWrightStuff or metsfan, just the people who have been complaining about Matt being censored by SNY over the last few weeks. Unless you are amongst those people, in which case it is directed at you. It’s 5 in the morning and I’ve been studying all night, so I’m gonna stop typing now.

  19. AlreadyMissShea says:

I will be at the game tomorrow. If anyone wants to come up and say hello, I’ll be wearing a Mets cap and a Mets jersey.

You’ll know me when you see me.

  20. backinbusiness says:

According to the Mets probable pitching site:
    4/29: Santana v. Snell (Pirates)
    4/30: Perez v. Gorzelanny (Pirates)
    5/2: Maine v. TBA (D’Backs)
    5/3: Figueroa v. TBA (D’Backs)
    5/4: TBA v. TBA (D’Backs)

So I guess we are skipping Big Pelf’s turn.

  21. Gilch says:

totaly off topic ….. but does anyone realize how OMAR would have ruined this franchise for years had he signed ZITO lol

    • metsfan119 says:

He’s in the bullpen now too. It’s like Omar lost his tickets to the Hindenburg

      • gomets6091 says:

thank god for Brian Sabean. Any chance we can convince him to give us Lincecum for one of our aging vets, to help them “win now”?

  22. Gilch says:

pirates are the perfect to team for ollie to have a really dominating performance and go deep into a game finally

  23. Airfeet says:

Keep in mind…lets all be happy Wagner is slamming down the door…just imagine what problems we would have if he was giving up runs…
