In a Q&A for New York Magazine, Bilge Ebiri talks with Bobby Valentine about The Zen of Bobby V, an independent film directed by three students from NYU who followed Valentin through a season of baseball in Japan.
…he is absolutely fascinating…i have a screener of this film on my desk that i have yet to watch…when i do, i will be sure to give a review…

/obligatory fire Willie, hire Bobby V comment
there, it’s done, so let’s not hear any more about the topic in this thread.
You have a desk, Matt?
I <3 Bobby V.
where can I see this film?
Viewings of this film can be seen at the Tribeca Film Festival. The director’s have been doing the local media circuit! Should be an interesting take at Japanese baseball. Plus, Bobby V is thought of as a God in Japan. Go Fig!
At the risk of sounding a bit… when is the Tribeca Film Festival and how do I get tickets?
Sorry. I wrote the website in the comment section. I am sure it got filtered. No biggie, though. Just do a search for Tribeca Film Festival. From there just search for the film and it will give you all the showtime and locations. Enjoy! :0)
thanks, there is only two showings left, this thursday and saturday
Maybe Willie should put on some sweet fake glasses.
And Bobby V, there was a guy who knew how to overuse a bullpen!
I do miss Turk Wendell though.
i miss the teeth neckless
lol wendell
Didn’t Turk call out Barry Bonds when the whole steroid situation began?
I’m right here boss.
I’d like to see Willie in a disguise next season. Dressing up like an analyst for MLB on Fox would be perfect.
I was waiting for that one . . .
For some reason I could see the film requiring 3D glasses.
I can’t imagine anyone following Willie around to see his captivating personality… I’m just saying…
Love him or hate him, there’s no denying the hugeness of Bobby V’s personality.
I can still hear the fans chanting his name while he argued with the home plate umpire: Bobby! Bobby! Bobby! I’m not a Willie-basher, but I have yet to see the fans acknowledge Willie in any way during a game. I think that says something. Exactly what, I don’t know.
I need to see Bobby V in electrical tape mustache and shades again. Classic.
love bobby
