Brian Schneider has been released from the hospital and is currently visiting with players in the locker room at Shea Stadium.
Schneider, talking to reporters, before today’s game:
“It was a lot more serious than I thought it was…But, everything went well…Hopefully I’ll be back real soon.”
…from what i understand, he should be able to play when the team hits Arizona on friday…the thing is, he is still a bit in pain right now…hopefully, this is not the case on friday…if he’s still unable to go on friday, if Moises Alou returns from the disabled list, it’s going to make for an odd day of roster moves…

Brian Schneider is currently is the locker room at Shea, grossing out his fellow players with his giant green pus filled thumb!
Do these infections occur spontaneously? This whole thing still seems weird to me.
Ah well, hurry back, Brian.
Awesome… means we should see Alou soon too :)
I just hope Schneider doesn’t shake Alou’s hand to welcome him back….his thumb will get reinfected by ole stinky hands!
Actually he should have worked on nothing but handshakes with Alou during the past week. That stuff is sterile… :)
Pretty sure it’s sterile when first, um, expelled and is fresh…not so much after sitting around drying and collecting bacteria on one’s hands.
I’m gonna have to agree with gipper… Bear Grylls said the same thing… eurgh.
All Schneider had to do was let Alou wash his hand with his special medicine, and this would have went away weeks ago.
OK, that statement coupled with your name makes that the Post of the Week for sure!
brilliant!
Now for that Pedro report…
hope this is not too much of a good thing. Before was Alou coming back, now is schneider. I haven’t heard this much good news coming from the Mets since…….. (wait! it will come to me)
Could this be an omen of good things to come? HMMMM! Let’s wait and see!
if Schneider cant go on Friday than he’ll need to go on the DL to make room for Alou. Friday would be the 9th day that Schneider hasnt played, meaning he could come off the DL next week when the Mets come back home. In the meantime he could regain his strength and maybe play a few games in Bingy or St. Lucie.
Maybe Alou should catch.
MRSA?
