Haha, thanks guy.

No one claims they boo, yet there are overwhelming boos at Shea. For two weeks everyone has been acting like they wanted this trade, yet there was a huge outcry when overrated "potential star" Lastings was dealt.

It's a pleasure to watch Church play right field; Green and Milledge were both adventures out there. I'm tired of hearing how young Milledge is; he's not 19 and he seems to have a ten cent head. He continues to make bonehead plays this year and becoming a superstar at this point is more than a longshot; it's a Lotto ticket.

You have to think that the flirtation with Posada was about sticking it to the Yanks. I am so glad that I am not a fan of that team. They are so damn old right now. Much older and less productive in so many spots than we are.

1b - Giambi - old and close to done but at least only one more year on the contract

LF - DH - Damon - old and one more year

LF - DH - Matsui - old and a few more years

Ca - Posada - aging and 4 more years to go

RP - Mo - still awesome but old and 4 more years

SS - Jeter - still good but aging and 3 more years..less range than ever and less a threat to run.

AROD - still amazing but 10 more years...come on

mussina and petite - not the same anymore and both have just this year left but not looking good

We certainly have a bit of age also in Alou, El Duque, Castillo, and Pedro....but there is more good youth here than there at the moment

Good point.....I was unabashedly against the trade. So was 90% of the commenters on the site at the time it went down. BS to those above who say they were for this trade when it went down.

My problem with the trade then and now is that the team neeed RH outfield help. That is Milledge. While he is struggling a bit now...he is still a terrific looking young player who has the potential to be a dynamic all star. I am still pissed that the media and the few aged "vets" on this team skewed the view of the owners and Minaya enough to dump this kid at 50 cents on the dollar.

While Church has done better than we expected and Schneider when healthy has been exactly what we expected, both of these guys are nice complimentary players but not potential all stars. Church just completed a nice month. I actually like more than I thought I would. He has hit righties and lefties so this is not a knock against him...Just think that Milledge did not get a fair opportunity to succeed here and that in the long run...with the right tutelage, he can become another Alex Rios type player.

Perez for Zito. The Giants would pounce! Not sure I'd take that swap, but it really all depends on how much of his contract they eat (i.e., a very significant chunk.)

Yes! I, too, wanted Fukudome, but people balked at the tag. (Who knows if the Mets might have balked at Santana's tag had they dumped a boatload of cash on an unproven outfielder, however?) That, and the Matsui effect -- afraid of another Kaz. Essentially, if that's why they passed on Fukudome, it only compounds the error of signing Matsui.

Don't know about that. Their pitching staff actually overachieved last year, believe it or not, and I'm sure a lot of that credit goes to Schneider. If they implode this year, their development could be stunted.

This was by far the most logical response I have seen thus far. About Oh Pea that is. I have said all along that Ollie is the odd man out - although erratic, he can return I think a great deal and with his contract b eing up this year, his desire to return to NY on an extended basis questionable and Boras being his agent, I say they shoulda traded him back in the offseason. but now, he is the most valuable chip. Of course, this won't happen - not till Pedro returns.

As for Church/Schneider for Milledge - this trade would have never had to happen had Flores not been lost to Rule V or Yorvit Torrealba being able to pass his physical. How's estrada working out for the Nats?

- Its OK to have trades that make both sides better, where no one wins or loses, its happened before and it will happen again. …like Jeff Kent for David Cone. -

That's just wrong . . . .
