New Orleans (AAA): 6-4 loss to Portland
RHP Ruddy Lugo lowered his ERA to 2.25 by allowing just a run on three hits and three walks in six innings pitched. He struck out four. LHP Willie Collazo blew the lead in the eighth and eventually took the loss, getting tagged for four runs on three hits and two walks.
2B Argenis Reyes was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored, and recent signee OF Val Pascucci went 1-for-4 with a walk and a double. 3B Fernando Tatis finished 1-for-3 with two walks and two RBI.
Binghamton (AA): 5-3 win over Connecticut
RHP Bobby Parnell won his first game of the season in his finest outing thus far. He allowed two runs on four hits and three walks in 6.1 innings pitched, striking out two. RHP Eddie Kunz tossed a perfect ninth for his fifth save of the year.
1B Nick Evans continued his hot streak, going 3-for-4 with his fourth triple on the season, his fifth homer of the year, two runs scored and two driven in. He even added his first stolen base of 2008. 3B Danny Murphy was 1-for-4 with his second homerun of the year. OF Fernando Martinez finished 1-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI. 1B Mike Carp was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
St. Lucie (A+): 11-8 win over Daytona
RHP Dillon Gee skated around nine hits to allow just two runs in 6.2 innings pitched, walking none and striking out seven. Flushing native RHP John Wesley allowed four runs without recording an out in the eighth, while RHP Brandon Nall surrendered two more before closing the door in the ninth.
Rehabbing C Ramon Castro caught seven innings and was 0-for-2 with two walks. 1B Lucas Duda had a big night at the plate, going 2-for-5 with his eighth double and third homerun of the year, driving in four. OF Ezequiel Carrera was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. OF DJ Wabick finished 4-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and two driven in, and recently demoted 3B Josh Petersen went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI.
Savannah (A-): 9-6 win over Hickory
RHP Scott Moviel, a highly touted second round pick in last June’s draft, had his first quality start in five outings. The tall righthander allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk in six innings pitched, striking out two.
2B Greg Veloz stayed hot, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. 20-year old Dominican OF Richard Pena went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and two driven in. 1B Jose Jimenez was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. 3B Richie Lucas went 1-for-4 with a triple, a run and an RBI.





Nick Evans is starting to look like the guy to keep an eye on. RH bat, plays OF and 1B. Think we might be able to use that soon?
Hey, if Carp and Evans both keep mashing, bring them both up when Delgado finally gets hurt and put on the DL (hey, it has to happen at some point, right?).
