Now that Juilo Franco has officially retired, I would like to see the Mets hire him as a coach. I believe one of the key losses this team has suffered has been the loss of Franco’s presence in the dugout/clubhouse. Since he left midway through last season, the team has never been the same. I couldn’t stand watching him pinch hit, but he was a positive influence on Reyes, Beltran, Perez, and the rest of the young players. Everyone RESPECTED Franco. In my opinion, its very arguable whether or not they respect Randolph.

Im reserving judgement on Pelfrey until Schneider gets back behind the plate. Honestly I feel that way about anyone not named Santana, Maine or Wagner right now on this pitching staff.

I expected a loss today anyway. And im glad Willie kept Church batting second. I just wish alou was out there, and rested tomorrow instead, since you’ll need more of Endy’s outfield speed with Johan pitching.

My faith in Pedro as a dependable player ranks up there w/ el duque and moises……

besides we seem to flush with OFs anyway…..but I agree Nady seemed to do well in NY. (not bothered by the “NY Pressure”)

I actually had proposed trading Pelfrey and Heilman to the Pirates for Xavier Nady. Hopefully, Pedro comes back soon which will make Pelfrey expendable and we keep Figueroa, who’s been pitching decently, in the rotation.

Then there’s Armas and Vargas in the minors, pitching ok, and waiting for a chance. Let’s hope Petey fully recovers and it doesn’t come down to that.

earlier someone mentioned his diddling around with trying to bite the corners with his curve instead of going at hitters…enough.

can we reasonably unload pelf + heilman for a legit 4/5 starter and use our remaining crew for relief????

It’s not really enough said when you consider that our bullpen ultimately blew this game open, for them not us obviously. Unless our starters, other than Santana, start going deep into games this is going to be a reoccurring problem.
