The Game:

The Mets (15-13) look to take the rubber-game of their three-games series versus the Diamondbacks (21-9) today at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ, game at 4:10 pm EST.

The Lineup:

The Pitchers:

Santana earned a no-decision in his last start on April 29 versus the Pirates, surrendering two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out seven in 5.2 IP. In two career starts versus the D-Backs, Santana is 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA.

RHP Dan Haren (4-1, 3.13 ERA) starts for the Diamondbacks. In his last start on April 28 versus the Astros, Haren allowed three runs on five hits while walking one and striking out five for his fourth win of the season. Haren is 0-0 with a 2.79 ERA in two career starts versus the Mets.

Carlos Delgado is batting .305 with 5 HR at 20 RBI in 59 career at-bats at Chase Field.

The Mets are 3-1 in rubber-games of series this season.

Yes! I get to see a game in HD, but its on TBS so I have to listen to Chip Caray.

    :(

    • oklametsfan says:

      and ron darling!

      • Nightlife says:

Oh nice. I knew he was on the TBS team but I wasn’t aware he was doing these Sunday afternoon games.

        • khmustache says:

so i guess the question is: will chip root against the mets even with ron in the booth with him? i for one wouldn’t put it past him.

        • KinersKornerman says:

So who is with Gary today on the CW11? Could it be the return of Keith?

        • KinersKornerman says:

well, it’s Ron with Gary. No TBS here, so who’s doing that cast?

        • oklametsfan says:

          buck martinez i assume

        • khmustache says:

chip carey and jim kaat…braves broadcaster (chip) and former phillie pitcher…this is gonna be a long afternoon in the broadcasting department

        • AlreadyMissShea says:

Kaat is very professional. That half of the team won’t be a problem for you.

  2. Joelynn03 says:

    Now thats a lineup!

  3. jimyager says:

Lets kick some butt, take 2 of 3 and move on for a sweep of LA. LETS GO METS !!!!!!

  4. wallybackman'sfire says:

Is the roof gonna be open or closed today? Yesterday it was closed. Somehow games played in domes depress me. The lighting, the coloring is all grey, the sounds are echoey. I know it’s not that important but….

  5. 16oz says:

top to bottom our best team together for the first time this year.

    lets take 2of 3

  6. CaveManJoe says:

Ron is with Gary on 11

  7. khmustache says:

wow…this guy looks like he’s one hundred years old

    • KinersKornerman says:

      It isn’t Ralph is it?

      • khmustache says:

        nah…it’s jim kaat…former phillie pitcher

        • KinersKornerman says:

Good lord, he retired from the Yankee broadcasts two years ago.

Is there NOBODY else than can do a baseball game out there? No wonder Joe Morgan hasn’t been fired yet.

  8. darkstar73 says:

    LETS GO METS!!! GO JOHAN!

  9. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

umm… did TBS steal our Hi-Def.

Is that even possible? I’m confused.

  10. mrose says:

wait what….whats all this talk of no HD on WPIX???

  11. ccmetfan says:

i thought every cw game was in hd. Im still watching in SD since i haven’t yet subscribed for HD

  12. aj522 says:

No HD here either! Long Island. I remember seeing “all away games in HD” Is that an SNY only thing now??

    • dwb63 says:

away games are only broadcast in hd on SNY. WPIX only broadcasts home games in hd

      • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

I don’t think thats the case. I think it has to do with this game also being shown on TBS HD. Remember last year when we played the Giants at Shea (the Benitez balk game.) That game was also on ESPN and it wasn’t being broadcast in HD on SNY because they were like “using” our HD or something. I think the same thing is happening here.

      • AlreadyMissShea says:

        Nope. HD right now.

  13. gometzies_18 says:

So Today is the first time this season we’re rolling out the Primo lineup, right? PLUS Santana!

    LETS GO METS!!!

  14. mrose says:

i have RCN in Queens and I can’t even get TBS in HD right now..says temporarily off air
    WTF?

  15. ccmetfan says:

How can anyone tell it isn’t in HD? Are you actually used to HD already? I only noticed a little difference when watching hd movies, games and seeing 1 hd mets game at a cousin’s house

    • mrose says:

really? I can tell a HUGE difference
Anyway, looks like TBS is blacked out for me, so…i get f’d on hd on WPIX and I cant even watch HD on TBS thats some horse dung

    • khmustache says:

no question about it dude. once you get used to hd it’s very hard to go back.

  16. letsgometsgo11088 says:

I go to school in Buffalo and the game is not on the CW. Why the hell is the game blacked out on TBS…. pissed so so pissed

    • PacmanJones says:

I live in CT with Direct TV and the cw feed is not HD and TBS is blacked out. I also have Cox cable and their cw channel isn’t hd either. It’s funny both Direct TV and Cox Cable have a “CW HD” channel, yet when you put that channel on, HD has NEVER been televised. All season. LAME.

  17. KinersKornerman says:

the ball isn’t carrying in the closed dome. Might be good for Johan

  18. TurboDan says:

Blah, no HD here either – Comcast Monmouth NJ.

  19. KinersKornerman says:

No HD on CW Albany, and TBS is blocked. I guess I should be happy to get a game at all.

  20. mrose says:

great, is it just me or is this ump already squeezing johan?

  21. darkstar73 says:

    he’s out! horrible call

  22. KinersKornerman says:

It’s official. Augie Ojeda has made a deal with the devil. Sorry, Augie’s soul.

  23. Jersey Shore Mets says:

The replay on TBS clearly showed that Castillo didnt even tag him. His left hand was on the base well before Castillo was anywhere near him.

    • darkstar73 says:

his hand came off the bag, he slid right off of it and thats when castillo put the tag on

      • Jersey Shore Mets says:

TBS didnt go far into it the clip. Great replay TBS. Way to go.

  24. CaveManJoe says:

Hmmm… maybe the gun was right when it said Pelf and Maine were throwing 96-97 because Santana is only coming it at 91-92.

    • darkstar73 says:

Maine has been clocked that fast ball season and we know Pelfrey can throw that hard. Either way, Santana isn’t “only” coming in at 91-92, thats what he’s always came in as. I’m not sure where this misconception came from that he threw 95+ all the time minnesota, that never happened.

      • sincekindergarten says:

He hit 93 twice, but if his changeup comes in at 78 or so, so much the better.

      • CaveManJoe says:

wow – so Howie just said that the D-Backs pen hasn’t allowed an ER in 24 innings – that’s why they’re 21-9 and we’re 15-13

  25. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    AHH!!! THE HD IS BACK!!!!!!!!!

  26. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    btw, screw you McCain

  27. darkstar73 says:

now the ump starts calling that a strike?

  28. khmustache says:

    aah…talking about the collapse…only took 2 innings

  29. KinersKornerman says:

    Not good in the 2nd.

  30. khmustache says:

    nice

  31. stoney says:

Does it seem to anyone else that Castillo has been half-assing it the last few weeks? I just don’t see any sense of urgency in him at all.

He’s not alone there but for me, it seems most obvious with him.
    4 year contract..ugh

    • khmustache says:

i have been wondering that. he’s not sulking over the drop in the order i hope

      • AlreadyMissShea says:

Let him sulk. He can retire and tear up the contract if he doesn’t like it.

  32. wallybackman'sfire says:

Phills win on a walk-off error by Giants. All runs scored today by Philly un-earned….

  33. darkstar73 says:

    yeah reyes!!!

  34. khmustache says:

perfect bunt. on a side note i totally forgot about that stupid lead off graphic on tbs. i never thought i’d pine for the fox broadcast

  35. AlouIsNasty says:

That sac bunt > reyes hit is precisely why Castillo should stay in the 8 hole. Him drawing walks means more in the 8 hole than in the 2 hole

  36. khmustache says:

a thing of beauty…his first at bat was pretty hard hit as well

  37. Nightlife says:

Hahahaha Buck Martinez said Bo Jackson would have been the greatest player of his era if not for injuries. I hope he was joking.

  38. sincekindergarten says:

OUCH! For Haren, that is . . . Middle-out, just below the belt to Wright just ain’t gonna cut it! Home Run!

  39. darkstar73 says:

a little outside maybe? ugh, either way, i’d rather beltran be patient during a slump then going up there swinging at sh*t

  40. Wayneoo says:

What’s the point of having a dome stadium in Arizona?

    • Nightlife says:

      Air conditioning.

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Too hot some days. They need to cool the place or the people in there would burn to death.

    • Koko says:

Because the average high in June, July and August are 103, 105, 103. Hot hot hot. All the freakin’ time in the summer.

      • Wayneoo says:

Wow, I’m an idiot. That didn’t even cross my mind and I’ve been there in the summer.

  41. Nightlife says:

    Delgado smoked that ball.

  42. ksuth says:

    Dear Mr. Beltran,

I would like to invite you to hit fast balls that come through the strike zone.

    WHERE: Batter’s Box

    WHEN: During Your At Bats

Please RSVP to the fastballs that you stare at coming through the strike zone.

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Not a fan of the Beltran bashing but I got a nice laugh outta that.

  43. darkstar73 says:

    man, santana got lucky there

  44. metsfan119 says:

Santana has to get whoever the hell that no-name was out in that situation

  45. dykstraw says:

i hope schneider is just rusty because he really has to do a better job of blocking balls.

  46. khmustache says:

ojeda is quickly becoming my new least favorite player

    • AlreadyMissShea says:

And after this series we’ll probably never hear his name again.

  47. lewchr says:

    Chip Carey is awful.

  48. CaveManJoe says:

    i hate this ojeda guy

  49. metsfan119 says:

Kirk Gibson, the fraud MVP of ‘88

    • khmustache says:

everytime i see a replay of that homerun all i can think about is the dodgers beating the mets…20 years later and i’m still upset about it

  50. CitizenSnips says:

Glad to see some disappointment in Reyes.

  51. CaveManJoe says:

Can’t say Reyes isn’t showing passion

  52. khmustache says:

    wow, reyes gettin mad…good thing?

  53. wallybackman'sfire says:

Augie Ojeda’s clearly the best player in baseball.

  54. trippingac says:

Could Chip Carey get any more excited whenever something doesn’t go the Mets’ way?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I hate this f****** guy.

    • lewchr says:

You would have thought the wild pitch just scored the winning run of the world series. Where is Joe Buck when you need him. And Jim Kaat is usually much better than this.

      • khmustache says:

you can imagine chip pumping his fist on that pop up

        • HITorDIE25 says:

I would like to fist chip

        • wallybackman'sfire says:

Each successive generation of the Caray clan loses its personality by at least a half.

Harry Caray – full of charisma, a real character
Skip Caray – grumpy sounding, a la Burt from Sesame Street
          Chip Caray – any personality?

I fear what the next generation will bring….

        • Danny1986 says:

you’re assuming Chip can get it up….

          not a wise assumption.

  55. darkstar73 says:

    what the hell?

  56. Nightlife says:

I can’t take much more of Caray.

    • gometzies_18 says:

I CAN’T STAND HIM….I’m in Seattle and I REALLY miss Gary, Keith and Ron…they are truly the best.

  57. ccmetfan says:

I wish Johan was more efficient with his pitch count but at least we’re winnning

    • Nightlife says:

Yeah, hes keeping us in the game though. 2 more out of him would be great, but 1 more and some run better run support would be cool too.

  58. InsaneMetsFan says:

Does anyone think that Santana has been kind of disappointing so far?? I mean, he’s a 7 inning pitcher and he always gives up at least 2-3 runs. This isn’t the “Ace” I thought we were getting.

For God sakes he’s up to almost 90 pitches and he’s not out of the 5th yet. Is this Johan Santana or Al Leiter????

    • Danny1986 says:

well….at least the first part of your name is accurate.

    • darkstar73 says:

      your name says it all

      • InsaneMetsFan says:

Danny and DarkStar….so this is what you expected out of Santana??? This is no Ace, can I see just one game 8 IP, 0-1 ER, just one game, get through the 8th. Why am I crazy for wanting that out of my “Ace”? Isn’t that what “Aces” are supposed to do????

        • darkstar73 says:

of you look at his past seasons, he’s a notoriously slow starter and really picks up it mid-season, so far, he’s been just fine, and the fact that history shows he’ll be even better? i’m fine with that.

        • CLYONS says:

i recall that kinda start form santana in atlanta and philly this year already…thats the two division rivals in their park…thats what an ACE does

        • darkstar73 says:

i should also add that if you look at his peripherals, they’re all great, and will only get better. just relax man, how is Becket doing this year? era over 4, does that mean he’s not an ace anymore?

        • Danny1986 says:

          - new League.
          - new Catcher.
          - no consistency at Catcher with Cassanova playing a lot.
          - it’s April.

He still has a phenomenal ERA. Averages about 7 innings and 7 K’s per start. Opponents batting .200 against him. And he’s in control of the game with every pitch.

Yes…I am very happy with him.

    • HITorDIE25 says:

Dont be an idiot…he has a 3 era and teams are hitting under .200 against him. Typical ignorant Mets fan sometime. New league, new hitters, and new catcher…calm down

No he hasnt been a dissapointment

    • Nightlife says:

Eh, I’m happy so far. Hes been consistent and its still early in the year.

    • trippingac says:

I hear what you’re saying, but relax. By his standards, this is a *slow* start for Santana. And he typically has started off slow throughout his career. If that’s what you call a slow start, well, I’ll take it. He’s going to heat up this month and through the hot summer.

    • CLYONS says:

can u stop please..the guy is human for gods sake..let him get used to the NL hitters first at least…geez

    • gometzies_18 says:

I know where your coming from, but I think there’s an adjustment period. They Cy Young stuff is gonna come. I mean this guy is no flash in the pan, and he’s in his prime. And even as he’s getting better, he STILL has a had a quality outing every single time he’s taken the mound.

Swagger and Confidence. This is something so crucial that the Mets had in 2006 that they seem to have lost. One of the big pluses of Santana is that he brings that every time out, and the rest of the team picks up on that.

And the D-Backs have the best record in the Bigs right now. They have a great offense (Which most East Costers don’t get to see) and frankly the Mets have done a pretty great job (save Pelf yesterday) of shutting them down.

I’m more concerned about getting Beltran goin….LETS GO METS!!

      • InsaneMetsFan says:

OK then, I stand corrected. I’ll give Santana more time before I start raking him over the coals.

Beltran on the other hand has been awful, I mean he’s a walk machine, but can I see some homers????

  59. HITorDIE25 says:

There just balls in the dirt that BS should block. Chips an idiot…”uncoarked 3 wild pitches”

  60. Necciai27 says:

Anyone listening to the game on radio? Did you just catch this call?

Howie Rose: “Wright obviously trying to atone for his previous play.”

Wayne Hagin: “He damn well was!”

Obviously, “damn” is the most minor cuss word one can use, but it’s just one more strike against Hagin, IMO. It just sounds unprofessional, as does Hagin in general.

    • Necciai27 says:

Looking at this post, I think I sounded a little too prudish. Look, if (say) Keith had let “damn” slip out, I’d actually be fine with that. It’s just that I don’t like Wayne Hagin and he just does not come across as being remotely professional. I know some people might say that about Keith, but Keith also has baseball savvy and never ceases to entertain. He sorta feels like your slightly crazy nextdoor neighbor. Hagin? Not much baseball savvy, NEVER entertaining, and doesn’t even feel human, to say nothing of acting like your goofy neighbor.

      • AlreadyMissShea says:

It’s not prudish. A professional broadcaster should be able to come up with something better than that.

  61. AlreadyMissShea says:

Hey why is Bush’s grandfather on with Burkhardt?

  62. lewchr says:

I would switch to the extra innings feed but Grace and the other idiot are just as bad.

    • Danny1986 says:

That’s funny, b/c i didn’t realize this was on TBS. I’ve been stuck listening to Grace the past 5.5 innings.

I can’t believe some of the things coming out of Grace’s mouth. I’m actually dumber now after listening.

      I recommend sticking with TBS.

  63. Danny1986 says:

Chip carey was run out of Chicago for a reason. That is very hard to do. He had is grandfather’s leagacy to ride on along with an ignorant fan base to appease, and people still hated him here.

  64. Wayneoo says:

The TBS crew just mentioned Nolan Ryan and Kerry Wood in the same breath.

  65. Koko says:

If you guys really dislike whomever you are listening too. . . simple solution. Put the volume down and turn on some music while the game is one.

    Nothing makes people content here.

  66. khmustache says:

kaat just brought up a good point…why not go after the number 8 guy there?

    • darkstar73 says:

willie was calling a bluff that turned out not to be a bluff, it meant Arizona had to take out Haren

    • Danny1986 says:

b/c you have to get Haren out of the game. With your ace on the mound, you take your chances against the pinch hitter and then go after ARZ’s bullpen.

Now…if it was Pelfrey or OP on the hill, it would be different. BUt, then again, the score likely wouldn’t be 2-1 MEts either.

  67. ccmetfan says:

Surprising to see Haren out so early, threw only 85 pitches

  68. CitizenSnips says:

Hahaha the idiot called Joe Smith Heilman.

  69. gometzies_18 says:

    I love Santana

  70. darkstar73 says:

oh boy, wow, that had me scared

  71. Nightlife says:

Chip Caray made that fly out sound like it actually had a chance of dropping.

  72. Danny1986 says:

Did Chip Carey just break a blood vessel on that easy fly ball call?

this guy is such a bedwetter.

  73. AlouIsNasty says:

Wow.. they would have been calling for Willie Randolph’s head in the NY newspapers tomorrow if that ball dropped.

  74. trippingac says:

Wow – you could tell how disappointed Chip was that that ball didn’t drop and Church caught it.

Good battling by Johan. You’d like to see him do better, of course. But look at it this way: 6IP 6H 1ER is a *bad* line for our ace. I’ll take it.

    LET’S GO METS!!!

  75. AlreadyMissShea says:

See that guy who just drove through the garage in that commercial? Someone on this blog right now once did the same thing, but fortunately I wasn’t hurt.

  76. khmustache says:

    whew…thank god for church

  77. khmustache says:

why is bill engvall famous? he might be the unfunniest comedian ever

    • AlreadyMissShea says:

I would say 2nd unfunniest after Larry The Cable Guy. I know a lot of people like him, but I don’t see why.

      • Danny1986 says:

i honestly don’t get the whole redneck trend in comedy nowadays. It’s gradeschool humor.

  78. did one of the arizona announcers really just say the phillie phanatic is superior to mr. met

    oh hale no

    • khmustache says:

      phanaitc = overrated

he’s a fat green thing stealling the san diego chicken’s routine

  79. Nightlife says:

OH MY GOD LOOK AT OGIE OJEDA!!!

    • jcervone7 says:

You mean you’re not impressed by how he grabbed that easy ground ball and threw it to first?

  80. Nightlife says:

We finally retired the greatest player of all time.

  81. darkstar73 says:

    where did that pitch miss?

  82. AlreadyMissShea says:

I wish I could get that stupid Outfield song out of my head. Why is it that never happens with GOOD songs? It’s always the bad ones that get stuck in your mind.

  83. trippingac says:

Sanchez isn’t gonna pitch, I would think, after going back to back days. Does that mean Heilman is coming in?

  84. Gina says:

this is like the story of our season.

  85. darkstar73 says:

2 cheap hits and a walk, awesome

  86. khmustache says:

    nice call chip…

  87. blains2000 says:

Why can’t ANYONE in this bullpen just do their stupid job? It’s utterly ridiculous.

    • darkstar73 says:

in defense of Smith, he got the ground ball he needed on Jackson, but Wright was playing the line, and the hit for the RBI wasn’t exactly well struck, just found an opening and dropped in

      • blains2000 says:

And the walk? I know Smith has been one of the better guys out there but it’s just ridiculous how this bulpen can’t even get a 1-2-3 inning. And I’m sure everyong just knew there was no way this team could win a 2-1 game.

  88. CLYONS says:

santana will never win 20 games with this bullpen

  89. njmatt says:

Chip still acts like he’s calling a Braves game, seems pissed when the Mets do anything good (granted is rare) and gets so excited about every Dbacks play.

This is ridiculous, can anyone in our bullpen just go 1-2-3? Smith looked fantastic through the first 2 hitters, then a few close calls didnt go his way and suddenly he can’t locate his slider or his fastball.

    • blains2000 says:

I’ll bet the Mets bullpen has the fewest number of 123 innings in the league. What a freakin joke.

    • metsfan119 says:

How are you guys getting Chip Carey? Can’t you get the game on channel 11?

      • Danny1986 says:

there are mets fans outside the NY metro area, you know?

      • khmustache says:

        nope…boston doesn’t carry the cdub

it’s either tbs or the arizona feed

      • njmatt says:

Well, I go to school and live in Boston. So I get the mlb package and the mlb package is the diamond backs feed. They aren’t bad but they are pretty obnoxious too. Santana and the Mets started out pretty well with me watching the TBS broadcast. But that turned around quick haha

        • Danny1986 says:

fyi…extra innings will never carry a cw11 game. only SNY. Not sure why, but it’s what I’ve noticed after 3 years of subscribing.

        • AlreadyMissShea says:

Might have something to do with the commercials, which are more localized for the cw11 games as opposed to the more MLB friendly ones on SNY (Giuseppe and the rest of the nationally run con artists :) )

        • gipper91375 says:

Extra innings has already carried a CW11 game this year. Is rare. But it happens. Ususally, they go with home team cable feed.

  90. njmatt says:

PS: Is it me, or are the Mets already starting to give Santana the Pedro Martinez circa 2005 treatment?

    • metsfan119 says:

If only it were just Santana, the Mets are equal opportunists.

      • WrightsRight says:

I was just thinking that…pedro would’ve had 20-22 wins that year if he had any run support or the bullpen knew how to pitch. Johan is 12-15 wins at this pace…

  91. skylog says:

granted johan has not really had his ‘best stuff’ for a majority of the season, but he is sitting there at 3-2 when in all reality he could be sitting there 4-2, 5-1…it is hard not to feel for him. that said, hopefully they can pull this one out and take the series before heading into la.

it is so beyond frustrating knowing that the bullpen is going to give up something just about every game, and give it up big in quite a few of those.

  92. CaveManJoe says:

wow – so Howie just said that the D-Backs pen hasn’t allowed an ER in 24 innings – that’s why they’re 21-9 and we’re 15-13

  93. khmustache says:

they’re doing the wave behind home plate…arizona fans should not be allowed to go to the game

    • metsfan119 says:

Forget the wave, they have a freaking pool in the stadium

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Tell that to the fans at Shea who do that too. Its just sickening. The wave sucks, people!

      • AlreadyMissShea says:

The wave should be an offense worthy of an ejection. I don’t care if it’s 20,000 people. Everybody OUT!

  94. Gina says:

At what point do we start hearing rumors about trading for bullpen help. Or are there arms in the minors they can call up?

    • Danny1986 says:

Neise and Kuntz should be up in the summer sometime. For 3 reasons:

      1) They willl likely be more effective than what we have now.
      2) The book on them is blank.
      3) the bullpen will be out of gas at this pace.

      • Gina says:

2 on and nobody out. we better capitalize, so we don’t have to go into extras. this game is cutting into my gta iv time.

  95. MetsUKfan says:

I think johan santana would prefer post season and a world series.

the cy young talk is what causes the bullpen to cough it up. frankly pedro will make a hell of a difference to the rotation.

    • Kellman says:

Do you actually expect anything from Pedro? I’m not being sarcastic, I’m curious. I’ve all but forgotten about him honestly. Maybe it’s better that way. Anything he provides is more than I’m expecting.

      • AlreadyMissShea says:

Yeah, I think people could be very disappointed if they’re banking on things changing when Pedro comes back. Anything he gives the team this year will be a bonus, but it’s not something they can afford to count on. And kind of on the same subject, El Duque will never pitch in a Mets uniform again.

  96. AlreadyMissShea says:

    Time to go to CHURCH

  97. metsfan119 says:

    big steal

  98. CaveManJoe says:

I think I walk Wright to get to Beltran

  99. metsfan119 says:

It’s up to Wright here, because you know Beltran’s not doing anything

  100. Gina says:

Did that say .167 with runners in scoring position. That’s ugly. That’s probably as much a reason for us being 15-13 as our bullpen.

  101. Kellman says:

Cruz has some electric stuff. I wish he was in our pen.

  102. metsfan119 says:

    This team is clutch!

  103. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Why are they playing “Enter Sandman”

    • Danny1986 says:

      i don’t know….but Mariano Rivera’s agent just filed a complaint.

  104. CaveManJoe says:

    THANK GOD FOR CHURCH!!!

  105. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    Thank god for Ryan Church

  106. darkstar73 says:

wow, fricking lucky as hell there, what is feliciano doing there? “hey, i’ll just fling it over there, maybe someone will make a play”

  107. Nightlife says:

    Hahahahahahaha!!!

Caray sounded so deflated after Burke was thrown out.

  108. khmustache says:

    church’s arm is money

  109. AlreadyMissShea says:

    LOL!
    Who didn’t see that coming?
    And they booed.

  110. Danny1986 says:

sometimes, when this team is playing defense…..there should be Benny Hill music playing in the background.

  111. blains2000 says:

The Mets have officially become a little league team. Good thing for Church.

  112. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Aren’t there still position players available for the D-Backs. Ouch.

    • blains2000 says:

Yeah, if you are on the dbags bench and they put up Owings do you wonder why you’re on the team?

      • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Oh, so their job is to RUN for the pitcher after the pitcher pinch-hits. Poor guys, lol

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

…speaking of ouch, did Owings’ foul liner just hit that guy square on the leg. Damn

    • darkstar73 says:

you realize micah owings is a great hitter, right? look at his numbers

      • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

I know, I know, but still, gotta make the bench players feel pretty crappy.

  113. Gina says:

If we’re still tied going into the 9th who pitches?

    that was a bs call.

  114. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    BS he was totally out

  115. darkstar73 says:

bad call, just a bad call there

  116. blains2000 says:

    TERRIBLE CALL!

  117. khmustache says:

OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT

  118. Arsenal13 says:

what an awful call you have to be kidding me

  119. metsfan119 says:

Chimps can do a better job than MLB umpires

  120. Nightlife says:

    BS

That is called an out 99.999% of the time.

Also, get some new, non tinted, glasses ump.

  121. WrightsRight says:

    horrible call

  122. AlreadyMissShea says:

Wow, Willie really let ‘em have it there.

    • khmustache says:

i was just thinking that…a corpse would’ve put up a better fight

      • WrightsRight says:

would’ve loved to see willie get run there….cox and pinella would’ve been run…francona might;ve even been run…

        • AlreadyMissShea says:

The sad thing is TORRE may have too. What’s it gonna take to get this guy to back up his players?

  123. blains2000 says:

    Sosa in – game over.

  124. metsfan119 says:

The Mets get f&^ked by close calls more than any team in baseball

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

No, I think its just that we watch them more than any team in baseball…

  125. Arsenal13 says:

    sosa haha

  126. ccmetfan says:

but not as bad as the phillies when the opposing team it a foul ball near the foul post and it was ruled a hr

  127. CaveManJoe says:

What are they saying on TBS about that call?

    • oklametsfan says:

they “think” the mets got a bad call.

      they’re delighted nonetheless

    • khmustache says:

amazingly they both said it was a bad call

      • gipper91375 says:

Even the DBags hoorid announcers (grace and some doofus who is an even bogger tool – and both are total homers) said it was a bad call and the D-Bags got a gift.

  128. Kellman says:

I just can’t believe that Jorge Sosa pitches for a professional baseball team in the 8th inning of a tie game

  129. Gina says:

    Is Feliciano dead?

  130. Danny1986 says:

    Let’s play Jorge Sosa MadLibs:

Why the ______ is Jorge Sosa in this game?

After this inning, Jorge Sosa’s ERA should climb to 8._____.

That HR JOrge Sosa just gave up traveled 5____ feet.

  131. Maineiac says:

Hold on tight to your dreams- because the Mets will ruin them!

  132. stickguy says:

Willie must be an idiot. Pulling Feliciano, who should be able to pitch to L and R batterrs, for Sosa? Even worse, it is a tie game, and if it goes extras, once again the BP is depleted.

It is a serious problem if Willie feels that Feliciano and Schoe are both LOOGYs, and Smith is a ROOGY, since that doesn’t leave many guys that can pitch a full inning!

  133. johnolerud says:

i think willie was sleep walking when he went out to the umpire.

    • khmustache says:

line of the night…that was hilarious

      • AlreadyMissShea says:

Funny things is, the Mets will win, and in the post-game Willie will say, “I knew once I went out there, I was gonna raise the temperatures of my guys a little bit. They found a nice little rhythm because they knew I wasn’t happy about that call.”

        • gipper91375 says:

Looked like he and the ump were discussing the weather, or the crop report, or the history of Jacobinism,….anything but “aruguing” a completely blown play that even the D-bag announcers (complete homers) said was a bad call.

  134. metsfan119 says:

Just gotta hope karma gets the Mets out of this inning

  135. johnolerud says:

another stellar move by william to but in his spooning buddy, sosa. must have gone with his gut.

    • Koko says:

Seriously who the hell do you want??? My god. Willie has a set number of players he can use. Sosa is one of them. He already used Smith, Feleciano. Sanchez is out today – unless needed in an emergency. Everyone hates Heilman and Show.

Get a life everyone questioning everything a manager does. If you guys were any better maybe you’d be a manager of something.

Look at the situation and see if you can come up with something better.

  136. Arsenal13 says:

carey is nutting himself everytime the dbacks put the ball in play…love how he said “alou got a good jump” also..he didn’t even have to move at all there

  137. Nightlife says:

Nooo. Now we have to get Ojeda out!

    NOOOOOO!

  138. lewchr says:

by “alou got a good jump on it” did chip mean the ball was hit directly at alou

  139. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Sosa got it done. So much for the 10-15 “game over” comments above. But of course now that he does well everybody just goes away quietly, but if he gave up a run we’d have 1,000 “TOLD YA”s and “Fire Willie” comments.

    • Danny1986 says:

Sosa cannot be on this team in August. Everyone realizes this. Do you?

    • khmustache says:

requisite “guy who’s sucked all year just did something right so i’m gonna call out everyone who b*****s about him” comment

    • Maineiac says:

As Mets fans we expect the worst, that way we can feel better about ourselves when it doesn’t happen.

    • blains2000 says:

I will admit I was wrong. I thought for sure it was over once Sosa was coming in. I was wrong. I can now happily admit that.

Maybe he can give 1 or 2 of his wins to Santana.

  140. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

    Good start, Belty

  141. metsfan119 says:

    No DBs ALou

  142. darkstar73 says:

so is it a good thing to have alou up here instead of Endy?

    • Danny1986 says:

game of inches. Would endy have caught that ball that tied the game? would Alou’s grounder been a DP if the SS was playing up the middle. Would Endy have bunted in that situation?

this is why this is a great game. Willie gambled….it it payed off.

      good for him.

      • darkstar73 says:

oh i hear you, but there’s no way endy catches that ball, i agree with you, game of inches and that could have gone either way, but no way endy makes that catch…

  143. Nightlife says:

Where was Ojeda on that one Chip!?

  144. Arsenal13 says:

    let’s go carlos

  145. Arsenal13 says:

    HUGE

  146. darkstar73 says:

    yes! wow, thank you dbacks

    • Reyesing Shea says:

Schneider can bunt but Delgado cant…..that should have been a freakin double play…i am glad it wasnt but still…is willie afraid delgado will be upset if he is asked to bunt…so what

      • darkstar73 says:

maybe it has something to do with Delgado swinging the bat well lately? like his near HR earlier this game and the 3 run jack yesterday?

  147. Nightlife says:

Oh man, thank you Conor Jackson.

  148. AlreadyMissShea says:

    Nice throw :)

  149. ccmetfan says:

    LETS GO METS!!!

  150. lewchr says:

    thank you CoJack

  151. Nightlife says:

If only he had the footwork of Augie Ojeda!

    • Danny1986 says:

I can’t believe Augie Ojeda didn’t use his super powers to levitate 20 feet in the air and catch that throw. Obviously, neither can Chip.

      Overrated.

  152. CaveManJoe says:

Hopefully we just got a W delivered by airmail.

  153. njmatt says:

YES!! I just rolled my eyes when Delgado hit that ball

Then he throws it away and I jumped out of my seat…we were just bemoaning how we never get breaks, well that’s 2 in a row. Alou hits what I think is a routine DP ball but Ojeda’s positioning gets us a break. Then the routine DP ball gets thrown away. Those are the breaks we’ve been looking for…although i’d like to see this team make their own breaks more often

  154. Arsenal13 says:

time for billy to back everything up in bottom 9th

  155. CaveManJoe says:

    who’s on deck?

  156. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Looks like Conor Jackson was doing his Carlos Delgado impression there at first…. and I love it!

  157. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Please, lets get this run in. OMG, they just intentionally walked castillo. Thanks you guys.

  158. gometzies_18 says:

    Time for a Marlon GRANDE!!

  159. lewchr says:

chip is back to talking about 2007

  160. Jay says:

haha and the D-backs do us a favor by walking castillo. thanks guys.

  161. AlreadyMissShea says:

Will Marlon make it 7-2 so we don’t have to just watch other teams do that to US???

  162. Nightlife says:

    Marlon, my man!

  163. Danny1986 says:

    I love Marlon.

  164. njmatt says:

Nice approach by Jose right there! That’s a very good sign

  165. Nightlife says:

Nice one Jose. Just tacking them on.

  166. khmustache says:

chip is gonna start crying in a minute

  167. AlreadyMissShea says:

It’s nice to see the Mets play a game this year that’s given away, and not by the Mets.

  168. trippingac says:

WOW! I gotta say, I didn’t see this rally coming! LET’S GO METS!!!

  169. blains2000 says:

C’mon Willie would have been roasted for walking Castilllo there.

  170. cafuq says:

    breathing room for wagner

  171. CitizenSnips says:

Wow this annoucer believes the D-Backs can do no wrong.

  172. njmatt says:

also Carey and Kaat can’t stop talking about how the dbacks are handing this game to the Mets. No credit, of course, it is semi true, but it just cracks me up.

    • ksuth says:

Gary just said Conor Jackson just handed the Mets the lead so it’s not just Carey and Kaat…

      • njmatt says:

        Of course he did.

Thats not the point, Carey just cracks me up, he’s such a huge Mets’ hater and he can’t hide it at all, which is not very professional.

  173. Nightlife says:

    Alright Billy finish it off.

  174. Tina says:

What on earth was the justification for walking Castillo? Just double-play?

    • blains2000 says:

No clue. You have a guy who was 0-15 and can’t even hit a ball far enough for a sac fly. Big mistake if you ask me.

    • ksuth says:

no….it’s that he’s got the hottest bat on the team :D

  175. metsfan119 says:

Billy should mow down this underwhelming lineup

  176. Danny1986 says:

this new windup by Willie makes him a different pitcher. batters are having a hard time adjusting. Just a great addition to his game.

  177. zen says:

2 of 3 from the d-backs. fire everyone!

sosa leads the staff in wins with 4

  178. ccmetfan says:

Sosa, leading the Mets in Wins, weird season so far

  179. Danny1986 says:

    Good Job Billy.

    Good job bullpen.

    Good job Offense.

    And, yes, Good job Willie.

  180. AlouIsNasty says:

Willie might have been the key to today’s game, and I am his biggest critic.

  181. Jay says:

Well done boys!!! And may I say, nice moves by Willie today, specifically walking the batter to take out Haren. Give him props.

  182. metsftw says:

we got swept?! trade reyes! DFA wright!

oh, we took 2 of 3?

um…santana didn’t throw a perfect game. overpaid bum.

gotta find something to whine about, right guys?

  183. ccmetfan says:

Good series win against an overated Dbacks team who’s majority of its wins were against its own division

  184. khmustache says:

    done and done…

  185. AlreadyMissShea says:

So Willie gets to survive a little bit longer. It will just make the champagne that much sweeter when he’s gone. :)

Yeah, it’s a joke. Mets win! Have a nice weekend everyone.

  186. blains2000 says:

I know there is plenty of time for this to change but does anyone miss Lastinngs Milledge? I mean Church for Millledge straight up has been a mismatch. Church has been the Mets’ MVP so far and that play he made in the 8th was ridiculous and helped save this game,

  187. khmustache says:

final thought on the game…why is the mascot for the d-bags a cat?

    • ccmetfan says:

makes more sense than having a cactus for a mascot or a snake with legs

      • Necciai27 says:

        “a snake with legs”

Then they’d be the “Arizona Monitor Lizards”…but I see your point (after all, a guy in a snake costume wiggling around without operable limbs would be completely absurd). A cat makes no sense AT ALL. And the main reason I posted this? I dunno, I just really wanted to type “Arizona Monitor Lizards” and make everyone smentally picture some poor ba$tard in a snake suit without any limbs…I don’t believe I’ll ever have the opportunity to do so again. ;)

    • blains2000 says:

You know I was thinking that same thing when he was doing the American Gladiator routine with the faux Mr Met.

Maybe they realized that a 6 foot snake would scare the hell out of the kiddies.

      • gipper91375 says:

The story is that Jay Bell’s kid came up with teh name Baxter the Bobcat. It was a Bobcat because Chase Field used to be Bank One Ballpark (a/k/a “BOB” or “the BOB”). Hence, BOBcat.

Of course, Diamondbacks are snakes, not cats. And, now thanks to a merger, the BOB is actually Chase Field.

So, it is completely and utterly retarded. As I have pointed out to Baxter the Bobcat himself and to D-bags fans on my three visits to AZ to see Mets D-bags series.

  188. boomingranny says:

    YEAH!

    Nice game Willie…

  189. bennyagbayanifanclub says:

    put it in the books!

  190. playmaker3128 says:

Big game ball goes to Church. Finally didn’t have a great day at the plate, but still made argulably the biggest play of the game. He needs to stay in the 2 hole. 7-1 with him there now. Reyes seems to be hitting much better with him there as well. Getting more pitches to hit.

Sucks we couldn’t get santana the win again, but as long as we win each of his starts its ok with me. 2.91 era and he still hasn’t hit his stride yet!

  191. gometzies_18 says:

    Sosa = (4 – 1)
    Santana = (3 – 2)

HAHAHAHA!!!! That just makes me laugh

    • kendychavez says:

and these dummies continue to give the cy young to the guy with the most wins

  192. sincekindergarten says:

Now, if Ollie finds that he has a set tomorrow night . . .

  193. edwin nieves says:

    Who would have thunk It????

  194. bobkooler says:

So now we are all happy and the ‘end of the world’ Pirates game doesn’t matter anymore?

    Priceless.

Win or lose tmrww, Ollie needs to step up and turn in a solid outing. The pen really needs some rest and Ollie needs to get some mojo back.

Ryan Church and Brian Schneider for Lastings Milledge…I mean, I couldn’t be happier…Church with the throw on a day he struggled at the dish (what a tag by Wright), and B. Sny getting that bunt down to help with the insurance runs. That is good baseball.

Lets tip our caps to Omar on that one thus far…

    • cleonsvan says:

Great game. Where did all the bed-wetting, fire-willie boo birds go? I love it. Keep the faith people.

      • gipper91375 says:

Willie should still be fired. Should have been right after The Collapse. One win (especially one on a silver platter, thank you Connor Jackson) does not change the overall picture.

That said, let’s hope this series win actually does start to turn things around in Met-land. I doubt it – but there is always hope.

        • cleonsvan says:

good lord man. Try to enjoy life a little!

        • CaliMetsFan says:

          Man give it a rest.

        • gipper91375 says:

I enjoy life fine. Enjoyed life during the game out and about on a beuatiful day in Portland, Then watched game on DVR. Glad they won. Thank you Connor Jackson. Nice job today by DWright, Marlon, Johan keeping us in the game despite not having his best stuff. Lights out still for Wags.

Still , defensive lapses, Beltran is L-O-S-T, another blown lead by the pen, etc.

Give what a rest? Rationality? Logic? Being a bit more, as your hero Willie puts it “even-keeled” so as not to get too crazy happy about a gift of a win in a single game in May?

      • AlreadyMissShea says:

        One game given away.
Willie fails to defend his players.
        He will be gone! :)

        • cleonsvan says:

Ok I understand your feelings on Wilie. And if they go into a serious swoon he probably is out on his behind. But tell me guys – as of today – who is your realistic replacement?

        • AlreadyMissShea says:

          Boomer Esiason.

Look, I don’t really care who manages the team. It would be easiest if Willie stayed and just went a little bit out of his way to defend his players on the field. It would be too much of a disruption to fire him now.

Honestly? The only time I even post something like that is when people show up AFTER the game to say something like “Where are all the Willie haters now?”

I’m not singling anyone out, but it’s just a ridiculous thing to post after one game.

I’ll say it again. I’d rather see him stay, avoid the disruption, win with him, then figure out what the next step is if there even is one.

        • cleonsvan says:

I beg to differ. There’s alot more posts here after a loss and a raft of complaining. Seems like its easier for some people to spit out endless complaints and be arm-chair managers than it is for them to be satisfied with a couple of wins. It’s just as “ridiculous” as saying Willie should be fired after every bad game. Guess today’s win put you in bad mood eh?

        • gipper91375 says:

          A replacement for Willie?

As I have said, a three-legged, one-eyed, rabid basset hound would be an improvement.

  195. edwin nieves says:

Give credit where credit is due. Nice job Willie!

    • gipper91375 says:

???? Willie got Johan to pitch well and get out of trouble so often? Willie magically forced Connor Jackson to throw a tailor-made DP ball to Tuscon?

      • darkstar73 says:

dude, GIVE IT A REST, seriously, Willie made some nice decisions this game, he makes some bad ones, yes, but today, he made some good ones. RELAX. For example, he walked the 8th hitter, to force the Dbacks to take our Dan Haren, so they could pinch hit for him, that was a savvy move. He also left in Alou with a 2-1 lead, and it turned out alou had a key hit later on (lucky maybe, but sometimes that’s what you need). He also let Santana pitch to the last hitter in the 6th after walking a guy, and Santana got the job done (not a hard decision i suppose, but still, kudos). I mean, just relax. Look at the Dbacks manager today, he intentionally walked luis castillo to get to marlon anderson, one of the worst decisions i’ve seen in a while, and guess what, people consider Bob Melvin a good manager, did that one bad decision change that? No, managers make bad decisions, it happens, even the best do.

        • gipper91375 says:

I agree with everything you said.

Still, I want hom gone. Never wanted him. Cannot fathomn keeping him after The Collapse.

Ih, and I had given it a rest. Would never dream of coming on and lambasting willie after a win…until I see mindless drivel about “oooh, where are the guys who want Willie’s head now?” type nonsense after one win.

        • gipper91375 says:

*him, not hom. Hom is a heckuva manager.

What can I say, it’s late, even on the West Coast.

  196. LA_Mets_Fan says:

So…what’re the chances that Johan Santana becomes the first player to win the Cy Young Award with a losing record? Because, honestly, that’s pretty much where we’re headed – lots of great games pitched by our ace in every sense of the word tainted by poor support from the bullpen…albeit only poor enough to tie the game so we can win in the end anyway. It’s pretty pathetic. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say there were guys out there deliberately sabotaging Santana’s stats! Which makes me legitimately wonder what the odds are that Johan could be considered for a Cy Young when all of his deserving stats are taking into account, despite a deceptive, losing record

    • Necciai27 says:

“So…what’re the chances that Johan Santana becomes the first player to win the Cy Young Award with a losing record?”

If it had existed in 1910 (I think…that or 1909), Ed Walsh would’ve deserved it. His record? 18-20. He led the American League in almost every pitching category, including ERA. Wins and losses are NOT what they’re cracked up to be.

      • LA_Mets_Fan says:

That’s interesting, and I agree. Wins and losses aren’t as indicative of a player’s dominance (or lack thereof) as they should be. Nevertheless, I’ll admit that I’m probably a whole lot more frustrated about Johan’s inaccurate record than he is! If Santana’s pitching, and the team wins, that’s all that matters, regardless of what pitcher actually gets the W.

  197. D-Day says:

great game! to bad we couldnt get santana the win, hes been pitching great going six to seven innings with 7-10 Ks a game but i bet hes just happy we won too.

    • krumbledkookie says:

Starters need to give more than 6 innings, because the pen will never hold up having to pitch 3-4 innings every nite.

  198. CaliMetsFan says:

Mets took 2 of 3 on the road against the hottest team in baseball. All things considered hard to grip about that.

  199. CaliMetsFan says:

Agreed that Perez needs to step up tomorrow though and at least give the Mets 6 innings. Too often he has shied away from the occasion than rising to it. Tomorrow he gets a chance to silence some of his critics and teammates.

  200. D-Day says:

well the d-backs have the phillies coming to town tomorrow. lets see how philly holds up or if the d-backs take out there frustration from losing this series out on the phillies. heres to hoping for option 2!

  201. CaliMetsFan says:

There are people still complaining about Willie after this win. Ugh. Let’s see where this team stands in about 10 days because I like their chances to build some momentum against Cincy and the Nats if they can get through the LA series.

    • cleonsvan says:

Some people will not be satisfied at this point with anything less than a win in every game until the WS when the Mets need to sweep…whatever

Ollie loves the Dodger Stadium mound. Look for him to really turn it around.

      • gipper91375 says:

And some people never liked signing a guy with zero managerial experience and no exposure at all to coaching in the NL.

Some people think Willie did a nice job in transitioning the team from abysmal to respectable but his time has passed as the players and circumstances have changed. Some people think (heck, everyone knows) he’s a mental midget when it comes to strategy (a season and a half to figure out a double-switch!) but gave him the benefit of the doubt as a good clubhouse guy. The good clubhouse guy notion evaporated along with the Mets in The Collapse. Some people think Willie, as leader, should have been held, I dunno, accountable for The Collapse.

Some people think one series win is hardly enough to absolve Willie. Plenty of .500 teams win plenty of series.

Those same people said nothing about Willie today after the win until people like you came on ranting and raving after one admittedly nice gift of a win (thanks, Connor Jackson) about “where are the Willie haters now?”

But sure. I am convinced after one gift of a win in the desert in early May:

Willie is a genius tactician. Willie is a master motivator. Being outclassed by LaRussa in the 06 LCS and then floundering about with a “bored” clubhouse through The Collapse was all part of Willie’s master plan. This win just doggone proves it! Imagine how sweet the champagne will taste now!!!

        Sheesh.

        • cleonsvan says:

Ok I hear ya gip. But you never did give me a suggestion on who should replace him. This is just ranting without any plan.

  202. EdysFanatic says:

Great win against the best team in MLB currently and most importantly they took a series. Good to see Delgados bat wake up and the pitching be effective as we all know it. Church is a gamer…lovin’ it!

I’m sure METSSC and Paula Cee will find something to complain about though.

  203. CaliMetsFan says:

In general, I still don’t understand all the “doom and gloom” stuff that appears considering the Phils are barely above .500 and the Braves have a boatload of problems with their staff right now.

If anything, the Mets are finally starting to get healthy and I am really interested to see what they can over the next 2 weeks.

    • cleonsvan says:

I think its a form of depression or possibly low self-esteem. Also a sign of not being very happy with one’s life. I suggest some medication.

      • AlreadyMissShea says:

I’ll say this again since you might not read the older posts. It would be EASIEST on the team if Willie figured out a way to stay on this year. I want to see them win, and that means the fewer disruptions the better. I think a lot of people react because you show up AFTER the game is over and post:

“Great game. Where did all the bed-wetting, fire-willie boo birds go? I love it. Keep the faith people.”

You did that not long after the game ended. What would you have posted if they lost? Probably nothing. So you enter an ongoing thread and act like you know something the rest of the group doesn’t know. That’s why you get certain kinds of replies.

        • AlreadyMissShea says:

Maybe I should make that a little more clear. You did not post during the game. You showed up just after it ended and they won, and started mocking people who don’t like Willie. To me, that’s little more than trolling.

        • cleonsvan says:

Settle down big guy. I prefer to Watch my games rather than sit at my PC and post. Guess I’m old school. I’d prefer Willie and the team to be successful as well and I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and the time to do it. But I’ll support them and cheer then on like I have for the past 40 years if they don’t win as well.

And really now, if the “Willie hater’s” can’t take a little “mocking” then they shouldn’t be dishing it out. It’s May for god’s sakes. The Mets win the game and you’re still going off all negative. Proves my point – crying and complaining when the team losses and silent and still finding something to complain about when they win. It’s really very unbecoming.

        • AlreadyMissShea says:

Negative? I said it was a nice win. The only reason I even mentioned firing Willie was because you showed up and asked for it. My views are my views, and it would be wrong for them to change after either a win or a loss, wouldn’t it?

What does May have to do with anything? Every game counts the same at the end of the year.

Anyway, I’m not sure why you think I was crying or complaining, but you’re a stranger, so I don’t really care. But if you show up after a game is over and start calling people out, don’t expect to be treated like you’ve made some kind of wonderful contribution, because you certainly have not.

Have a nice evening. Goodnight to everyone else still reading. I’ll be back later in the week. :)

        • CaliMetsFan says:

When have I changed my position? I have only logged on a few times so far this season but my position has been the always been the same so far – this is no reason to panic(especially given how the Phils and Braves have played so far).

If something happened to Santana or Wright (heaven forbid), then I might get worried. Until then I am willing to see if this team can get healthy and start to play more consistent ball. Lets see how they play over the next 2 weeks against some weaker teams. If the Mets are sub .500 come Memorial Day despite have a relatively healthy team, then I will become more critical of Willie.

  204. cleonsvan says:

Oh I’m sorry. I forgot about all the wonderful intellectual contributions you’ve made during the game,. My bad.

We can put petty differences aside and agree on one thing though –

Let’s Go Mets!! and Kick some stinkin Dodger Joe Torre Ass
