Willie Randolph told reporters yesterday that Mike Pelfrey will not be skipped in the rotation this week, even though the team has an off day on Thursday.
…as such, the following will likely be the team’s starting rotation during the next two series…
Monday: Oliver Perez at Dodgers
Turesday: Nelson Figueroa at Dodgers
Wednesday: John Maine at Dodgers
Friday: Mike Pelfrey vs. Reds
Saturday: Johan Santana vs. Reds
Sunday: Oliver Perez vs. Reds

Anyone know how Maine has done in the past with only 4 days rest?
4 days rest is his normal rest.
Maine owes the Dodgers a butt-kicking. Didn’t he give up back-to-back-to-back HRs there last year, including one to the pitcher?
uh duh. oops.
this is great. Stop yo-yoing Pelfrey. Get him regular work with Schneider behind the plate and he’ll settle down.
Absolutely. Schneider will get this kid to be aggressive and assertive, which most maintain are the keys to him being successful.
So this means Johan will miss the Yankee series, but probably open up against Atlanta on the 20th.
I can only look on that as a good thing.
Interleague play may put bums on seats, but beating Atlanta’s twice as important.
Why not let Santana pitch on his regular day?
Probably because he has thrown 230 pitches in his last two starts. While it’s important to get as many starts as possible from him, giving him an extra day occasionally will hopefully help keep him fresh later in the year as well as throughout the rest of his 6 year contract (with an option for a 7th year).
Pelfrey? Friday? On second thought – maybe I’ll go Saturday instead.
dam you willy, i have a friday night pack!
Excellent! Finally I’ll get to see Santana pitch in person. I just hooked up with 2 tickets in the Mezz Box right behind home plate (a deal at $30/each. However, even as I type this I know that one of the home games before Saturday will be rained out and I’ll be stuck watching Pelf or Figs (hope it’s Figs.)
Damn It! I am going to the friday night game and instead of seeing Santana (Thursday’s an off day) I’m stuck watching POC Pelfrey.
Some one shoot me.
Never mind. It looks like Friday’s game will be rained out. I would rather watch Pelfrey then not go at all.
…then the folks going Sat will get both games.
