…please answer the following question, while considering the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, and new stadium and network, etc…

Tagged Poll |….yes, the Mets scored two runs in the second inning last night, but they should have scored more…they had the bases loaded and no outs, yet stranded all three runners…they had
Dodgers RHP Hiroki Kuroda on the ropes, and, again, let the starting pitcher off the hook…
The Mets were 2 for 14 with runners in scoring position on the night.
Willie Randolph, speaking to reporters after the game about scoring runs, said:
“Wasted opportunities. It sets yourself up for the fall when you get opportunities like that early and you don’t take advantage of it…It’s no secret, we’ve got to start swinging the bats better. You know, we’re leaving too many ducks out there and making it tough on our pitchers to be fine…We really should have had one of those laughers. We just wasted too many opportunities tonight…We’ve got to swing the bats better.”
David Wright, on hitting with runners in scoring position, talking to reporters after last night’s loss:
“Uh, (pause), they threw some pretty good arms at us today…We just couldn’t muster up anything against that bullpen. It’s been phenomenal. They’ve been playing well as a team and it’s continued against us.”
Rephrased, Wright was asked if he feels it will come back to bite his team later in the game if they do not score early, to which he responded:
“Uh, (pause), you know, it’s, again, um, we got two in the second, we would have liked to get more, but to scratch off a crooked number there in the second inning, and I thought: we’re gonna hit in to some double plays, we’re gonna strike out with a guy on third, it’s gonna happen. I thought we did a good job of striking early. We could have gotten a few more, but I’ll take one in the first and two in the second.”
…here’s the thing, had willie given the response that wright gave, fans would be killing willie right now…
…i hear the people who are calling for willie’s head, in May, with their team above .500, and one loss out of first, but, what i want to know is: where is the line…at one point does the manager shoulder the blame, as opposed to the hitters who are flat and stranding runners…where is that line…
Tagged Willie Randolph |Matt Wise will likely pitch again today in a minor-league rehab start, meaning a) he will have finally pitched on back-to-back days, and b) will be one step closer to re-joining the Mets this weekend in New York.
Once Wise is promoted, a current pitcher from the team’s pitching staff will be displaced.
…it does not appear the Mets will carry the extra pitcher, and play short on the bench, seeing as how they are seemingly always playing short on the bench to begin with…as such, the future’s of Joe Smith, Jorge Sosa and Nelson Figueroa all seem to be in question…for Matt Wise…matt who…exactly…
…my bet is that the Mets drag their feet on this decision up to the absolute last minute…
…i have no idea how or what they’re going to do…what i fear is that this team will cater towards contract issues, and not just put the best possible team on the field…and that’s so frustrating…
Meanwhile, Pedro Martinez threw a side session in St. Lucie yesterday; Orlando Hernandez is still wearing a boot; and Ramon Castro remains on target for a possible weekend return.

In a post to Hot Foot, Andrew Beaton writes a letter to Carlos Beltran, saying, ‘Step it Up.’
According to Ed Ryan from Mets Fever, “Something needs to change.”
At Faith and Fear in Flushing, Jason talks to himself, and determines that last night will be 200 minutes of his life that he’ll never get back.

Tagged Poll |The Mets (16–15) lost to the Dodgers (19–14) by the score of 5 to 4 in Los Angeles.

…forgive me if you’ve heard this story before: the Mets have a lead, their starting pitcher keeps them in the game, they stop scoring, the pitcher slips up, the Mets fall behind, shut down their bats and ultimately lose the game…
…it’s always a difficult pill to swallow when the Mets have an early lead (3–0 in the third), but let it slip away, run by run, inning by inning…especially at 1 am…
…Nelson Figueroa pitched well enough, until the fifth, during which he got the first two batters out, but during which he also allowed a two-run home run to Mike DeWitt…
…the following at-bat, David Wright, Moises Alou and Carlos Delgado went down in order…and, to me, the air left the balloon…
…figueroa would have had a far worse line had it not been for David Wright, who looked outstanding on defense…on the other hand, Carlos Delgado is no longer even a good defensive first baseman, he’s now teetering on bad…and slow…
…also, speaking of defense, though it’s hard to get on Ryan Church for all that he’s done this season, including a home run early in the game, he was a bit confused on a key place last night while standing on the warning track, gazing at a fly ball he judged as maybe being a home run, but which wasn’t, and ended up being an inside-the-parker…what happened, ryan…
…it was great to see Willie Randolph put on the triple steal, with Angel Pagan taking second, Moises Alou stealing home, and a pig flying in to third…
…give a game ball to alou, for his hustle…
…also, give credit to Aaron Heilman for throwing two scoreless innings…he’s looking better…
…lastly, and most importantly, the Mets were 2 for 14 with runners in scoring position…
