1.) these polls are unscientific to say the very least

2.) Most people may not think the manager affects the wins/losses all that much, barring a strategic mistake or good move in a close game.

3.) One was a close game, the other was a laugher. Therefore, one has far more opportunity for a manager to impact, the pther has really no chance for a manager to impact.

4.) The poll that SHOULD be posted is "Should Willie have been held accountable for The Collapse?"

Dude? what the hell are you talking about? The play at the plate with Reyes against the Phillies was awsome, the treow from Church against the D-Backs was fun and the 12-1 game was fun and the double was cool as well, Did I miss anything? We have one of the best pitchers in baseball on the mound and he only has a 3-2 record, we cant hit and score runs. We leave a small army on base and thats a fact. Im sorry if Im fickle. I like watching the team strike out and squander leads late in the game, com eup with bases loaded and hit into DP or strike out, YES that great fun. This is a game and that will happen, BUT, not more often than not.

YOU GO SPOCK !!!! Live long and prosper,,,,DUDE!!
It was great to see th ebats working and th epitching working together. That is what we wanted from the start of the season. The score did not matter, it was the way they played.

Look, if we loose and its his fault then its his fault when we win, its simple. The fact is HE has to shoulder the team play, good or bad, ITS HIS FAULT. If th eplayers really lik ehim and respect him, yadda, yadda, yadda, then show it on the field and WIN. Is it Willies's fault that Beltran went down looking in ganes 7 in 2006? Is it Willie's fault that Glavine gave up 7 runs in the first inning in 2007? No, but, when you look at the whole season, YES , it is his fault. A poor choice here and there, an bad decision and before you know those few blown games add up and bite you in the ass. Then you are i first place on Monday and on Tuesday your in second place and NOT in the playoffs. Go back and change one of those bonehead decisions and things are different.

This is such a black or White question. All due respect Cerrone, but this a pretty unrealistic and meaningless poll.

Asking if Willie Randolph is the reason for each specific win or loss throughout the season is the equivalent of giving Ike accolades/blame for outcome of each specific enemy engagement during WWII.

If Reyes boots a ball or fails to cover 2nd on a DP that directly impacts the game, no one will directly blame Willie. If Castillo does the same the next day, no one will directly blame Willie. IF OP can't throw a strike and melts down in the 2nd inning, no one will directly blame Willie. If Delgado plays uninspired and strikes out with RISP, no one will directly blame WIllie. If Heilman comes in a hangs a changeup, no one will directly blame Willie....I can go on. But you get my point. When putting all this together and evaluating the inspiration level and focus of the TEAM, the blame on Willie certainly begins to pile up.

So WIllie might directly win a battle here and there. He will directly lose a few as well. Other times he has little direct influence on the outcome.

But it's pretty damn clear that he is not winning the war.

But 16% is a big difference from the 39% vs. 77% the post implies. The difference should have been quoted as 39% versus 23%, or inversely 61% versus 77% - using the low number for one and the high number for the other overstates the 'swing' the fans have and made me think too much to figure out what it meant.

Mr. Spock's comments just continue to prove the point that Met fans have bad memory with good things and good memory with bad things.

The fanbase is fickle and that is an understatement

My gripe with B) is that he is not the only one making these decisions. He was forced to keep Rick Peterson as pitching coach and as not being a Pitcher or a Catcher coming up, Willie needs to rely on the guy who actually studies pitching to help make these decisions.
Yesterday is the prime example. Maine pitched 117 pitches in 8 1/3 innings. Had he thrown those 117 pitches in 6 or 7 innings he would be out of the game. Fact is the pitchers have labored through 6 innings or so because they haven't been able to not walk people.
I think Peterson is in large part more responsible for how quick of a hook the pitchers get over Willie. Keep in mind that Peterson does these studies with Dr. James Andrews (shriek) to determine how much a pitcher can handle in any 1 outing.

umm 16% difference is not almost the same. No it is not a complete change buy 16% is a sizable difference especially when you have a couple thousand votes
