  5. Gilch says:

ugh so hard to sweep a doubleheader, damnit

  6. Nate W. says:

hmm, this is bad because the Mets will need a 6th starter to back around to Santana. Vargas anyone?

  7. So what does this mean for the few of us who have the MLB extra inning package?? will we get 2 see 1 game atleast?

  8. bigchart333 says:

whatever happened to the good ol fashioned DOUBLE HEADER, not day/night double header???? I went to one against the cardinals years ago when mcgwire hit 2 HRs. None of this day nite crap…what the hell

    • JefJarrett says:

the mets started selling 45-55k for games…………back in the day when noone came out, they did the back-to-back games for one admission……now they dont want to lose out on 2 admissions

      can’t say i blame them i guess…..it is a lot of money

  9. Brian says:

So tickets for tonight will be honored tomorrow night and regular tickets for tomorrow’s game will still be good for the 1 p.m. game?

    • troutster says:

Yeah, what does this mean for tickets? I assume my 1pm tickets are still for the early game and the ppl w/ tickets from tonight will be for the later game.

      Can anyone confirm?

  10. metsfanFH says:

  11. IsiahRandolph says:

  12. guess no1 knows how the extra innings will work tomorrow??

    • Gland says:

Probably a black out during the day because of the fox game and then a game at night. I’m hoping.

      • HITorDIE25 says:

Doesnt matter watch it on Myp2p.eu

You can watch all the games there, blackout, restricted or whatever…it doesnt matter. I have been doing it all year so far.

    • stephanie says:

We’ve been getting the 1PM games, but it may cut off at 4PM when the FOX game starts.

      • Wondy says:

Yeah, I’ve had the same experience w/ MLB.tv. The night game should be fine.

  13. meatloaf says:

This screws up the rotation. My guess is Vargas gets the callup after his last start. Wise will have to wait a while to join the club now I assume as someone will have to be sent down for Vargas who will have to make 2 starts with the doubleheader against Atlanta looming next week. They really need 3 out of 4 against Wash, and the rotation looks like it will line up as Figueroa, Maine, VArgas and Pelfrey in that series. Ouch. I hope they start swinging those bats soon!

    • Nate W. says:

I think I would call up Vargas, DFA Sosa, and have Figgy bounce back and forth to the pen around those double headers. Then Figgy takes over the long man role.

They probably owe Armas Jr. the first shot, so they could call him up for the first DH, then cut him, and call up Vargas for the 5/20 DH.

Armas last pitched on 5/6, Vargas on 5/8, so I guess we will know better if Armas takes the mound tomorrow.

  14. jsr530 says:

If Sosa stays on the roster I bet he picks up a start. Probably would prefer him starting and sucking them making a roster move for a guy who will perform worse than Sosa

  15. caraballo16 says:

If they bring up Vargas and push back Santana a day, which would be smart, it would end up being Pettite vs. Johan Friday night at the Stadium.

    • Nate W. says:

I think its better to keep Santana on his day (5/15) so he pitches one of the double header games in Atl on 5/20. Of course this means Johan will make 5 or 6 starts in a row on 4 days rest, which isnt his normal thing, but he’s the ace.

  16. Wondy says:

Anyone think that Castro will make his debut in the first game so that Schneider can catch Pelfrey in Game 2?

    • cafuq says:

that is a real good idea, so i doubt it will happen

      • Wondy says:

Thinking about it further, I’m sure you’re right – they won’t want to have Schneider catch the day game Sunday after a night game.

        • Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

So expect Pelfrey to get blasted again.

        • Koko says:

Well if Schneider does have the effect on pitchers people here think, I’d rather have him catch two games, then just the Saturday night one for Pelfry.

While Santana might do okay without Schneider, if he catches Pelf at night, he won’t get the start on Sunday afternoon with Perez – who needs Schneider as much as Pelf.

So go for the two games, even if it is a minor waste on Santana.

        • signupcall says:

If they really wanted Schneider to catch Pelf and Perez, they could have Santana start tomorrow night…

    • Nate W. says:

considering Willie’s tendancy to use a B lineup in the second games of DH’s, I think Pelfrey could use Castro’s bat in the lineup. Seeing as Alou and Beltran will probably sit, Pelf could use all the help he can get scoring runs.

  18. 1-18-31-7 says:

they really couldnt just cancel that game earlier in the day?

  19. Tackle Him Stearns says:

Does anyone know Ollie’s nunbers with/without the Schneid?

  20. MetalMet says:

I can still exchange the tickets for a later date right? What if I can’t go tomorrow night?

    • LIMetsfan says:

I just called the Mets to check this out, because I couldn’t go tonight.

You can still exchange your tickets for a future game, but you are not guaranteed the same seats you are sitting in.

If you want to be in the seats you had for last night’s game, you have to use them tonight.

      • MetalMet says:

That’s what I figured. Ah well. If we take lesser seats I assume they’ll give us some money back?

  21. stop the willie bashing.

all this dime store psychoanalysis is disturbing. everyone thinks they “know” people who are on t.v. we all think we can “just tell”
peoples character, by watching them at a press conference.

havent we learned in our own lives about how wrong these impressions often are?

we dont know how willie talks to his players or what goes on in the locker room. or if any approach would make any difference. and thats a good thing. it means willie treats his team with respect.

do you really want someone like a billy martin or lou pinella as your manager?. martin was an alcoholic, and pinella looks like an ass. with his big gut sticking out. like a fat little child.

if you could get bobby cox to miraculously manage this team, i’d take it.

cox or guissieppi franco, he’d be cool.

    • Aquadealer says:

What we do know is this team is playing 500 ball for almost a season now and collapsed in historical proportions at the end of last year with Willie at the helm. Its time for a change.

      • bringtheapple...leavethecowbell says:

I was surprised he came back this year

        Maz = manager

        Keith = bench coach

        Ron = pitching coach

Burkhardt can work the booth with Gary

        I can take Burkhardt’s job

  22. dr jones says:

I’m actually starting to feel bad for Willie. I’ve been on his case for a little over a year now and haven’t let up. For some reason this morning I woke up feeling sorry for the guy. I hope this situation is dealt with soon. The organization either needs to make a change or make it known that Willie is here to stay. I do believe all this Willie talk is hurting the team. Not sure how aware the players are of the fans distaste for his managerial style but enough is enough.

Lets hope that in todays game Willie comes charging out of the dugout on a bad call. Kicks some dirt around and lets 2 years of frustration out before our eyes. Thats what I need to get on board with this guy. I need Willie to be real. Stop pretending that things are alright and just be you. Walk out of that dugout with conviction and let us fans know that your alive.

I can barely remember Willie during his playing days. Was he as RESERVED back then as he is now?

In the last few days I’ve seen a concerted effort on Willies part to be nice to the media and try to turn this thing around. IMO I believe Willie just needs to be Willie. Not the Willie we’ve seen for the last 3 years. but the angry bitter man we all know is inside of him. At least I can respect him for being real I understand that I am possibly 100% wrong about his true personality but there just seems to be so much pent up frustration and attitude. don’t try and be the nice guy Willie, just be you to its full extent. You come off fake any other way

  23. 41 franchise says:

I had to register because this point is really getting to me.Why is Omar catching such a break?

He put us in this position by sticking with olde/fragile player like Duque, Pedro, Alou and Delgado. Then he goes out and signs Castillo(a one legged slap hitter) to a 4 year deal(this is going to be the worst Mets signing since Vince Coleman).
If Santana wasn’t handed to us he would have done next to nothing this off season.

Would Millar cost that much? He would be a good righty fit when Delgado continues his power outage.

If Wille goes so should Omar.
