If the Mets need him in June because Pedro and Duque are not coming back quickly then I would make a push for him. Can he play 1st??

i used to love Freddy Garcia here in Seattle - what talent he has... but i got very disalusioned after a few years of his crazy inconsistency.

he's one of those pitchers with talent, who really can't get it straight enough in the head to be consistent at all. i thought that maybe he'd get it together as he got older, but... he never has.
kinda reminds me of Ollie Perez actually...

Pelfrey clearly needs improvement (15 walks in 33 innings won't cut it, and he needs to put batters away better when he's ahead in the count), but his BABIP is absurdly high at .368. He's given up a lot of "defensive swing" hits (BABIP on 0-2 counts of .400, and on 1-2 counts .500). You can argue he's been somewhat unlucky, and with some regression to the mean, he'll be a solid young pitcher as soon as this year.

That does look nice, but what happens next year. Hopefully Pelfrey keeps getting better and Ollie stays, despite his ups and downs, you can't give up on his upside and he's a lefty.

I really wish we would've pursued Livan. Everybody was hating on him (not me), but look how good he's done for the Twins.

Our current rotation would've been:
Santana, Maine, Perez, Livan, Pelf/Figueroa.

that is why Danny is saying Figueroa should go in the bullpen... also he has ridiculous stats his first time through the opposing lineup (you can look them up if you want, but i dont want to) ... that is a good indicator for his potential as a relief pitcher

Dude I'm not racist. I was only making the point that there are idiots out there who will slander Omar for only going after Latino ball players which is not true. I don't care that he's Spanish, I will care if he is injured and cannot produce when he recovers. It could be a risk signing, but it could also be a reward. Omar is known for doing moves like this.

I am not a fan of Garcia, but if he can help the team then it could be a good signing.

I like this rotation actually. Agree w/ you on all points. (Not something I get to say on here very often.)

But then again whos to say brian would have had the same success in ny. Its impossible to tell. Brian was expendable at the time because we had alot of SP. Omar was making a call for the bullpen and while it has not really paid off, it just seems as such because burgos is injured and bannister is doing well. Again there is no way of knowing brians success in ny if he was still here. Omar was confidant in the abilities of the jacket to fix some of these players who have potential but just need good direction. As far as the race thing it is rediculous. Hell if my whole team was latin but they won 100+ games in a year i and im sure alot of people would not care. And if you wanna go there, remember estrada(latin) would be our catcher but omar shipped him to washington along with milledge for schnieder(white) and church(white). His baseball judgement has not been clouded. Just not all his moves have paid off as he would have wanted. That goes with all GM's

Figueroa is a nice story and all but i think we all have to realize this story is not gonna have a happy ending. in 4 of his 6 starts he has pitched 5.0 innings or less. That puts strain on the bullpen and Figueroa will be optioned once a better option (Pedro hopefully) emerges
