I heard a rumor, from someone that works at Shea ... that Pedro is actually healthy. They are saving him for the all-star break so they can treat him like Clemens on the Yankees last season.

Motivator
Savior

And most of all

less starts equals more likely he is healthy in September and October

heilman came into those games with us either down runs, or up a lot of runs. Smith has seen time with us up runs in a close game, clearly he has supplanted Heilman in the bullpen pecking order.

Maybe vertigo from a mysterious ear infection where he won't be able stand on the mound without losing his balance.

I agree with Mets fan in philly,

I really feel like when pedro comes back the team will be pumped, i feel like that may be a huge motivating factor for the rest of the team. I don't think 12-15 starts is out of the question but still I'm preparing for any more starts to be a bonus. The way he's pitching right now i can't see figgy leaving the big league roster, however alot can happen in the 6 or so weeks till pedro may be ready. I'd like to see pelfry stay in the lineup so as of right now i think the only logical move would be to move figgy to the bullpen as the long guy. but again lots can happen till pedro returns...i mean...if pedro returns.

So after saturday seeing heilman go twice in the same day, I'm really just wondering what the mets are doing with him. At this pace he's due for 90+ appearances...someone made the comment about possibly trading heilman, and I'm wondering if thats not the mets plan. lets use him 50 times by the all star break, and then trade him??? Conspiracy Theory, i know, but i can't come up with any other logical reason why he continues to get all these appearnces over guys like, smith, feliciano, and schoey who at this point are all pitching better than he is.

Well, if he has problems "getting it up," he could always talk to Rafael Palmeiro.

To anyone who hasn't figured this out yet, wins for a relief pitcher are either a BAD thing, or literally mean NOTHING. Just a heads up to the people who as of now, haven't made that connection yet.

I guess the anti-Sosa club is out again today. DABURG PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. NONE of Sosa's wins have been of the vulture variety. He pitched well in 3 xing games to win agst the Phils, Nats and Bucs, allowing zero runs each time.
