Did you even stop to think about what you read before you blogged? Pedro isn't talking himself up. He must get asked about his rehab 100 times a day from reporters, and in his own way, he's addressing the ridiculousness of it all (the NY media in particular). Reporters want him to make stupid predictions about his recovery so thay can sell papers, get site hits, etc. He's a pitcher, not a fortune teller. Pedro is rehabbing. He has had one of the fastest and most effective (judging by his numbers last year) recoveries ever for the type of surgery he had. All he's saying is that he's working as hard as he can to get back playing baseball, he doesn't know what's going to happen in the future and great players don't focus on what if's and predictions, they focus on the game. He's a professional, and he seems to be able to step on a field and perform in situations where most pitchers need a handful of games to "get right" after a trip to the dl. I miss Pedro greatly. He's an intelligent, fierce competitor and seriously, one of the greatest pitchers ever. I hope the Mets resign him. The type of surgery he had-I've read that it can add a few years to a pitchers career when sucessful, and he isn't even that old by recent standards

what? Pedro spent over a year rehabbing from a surgery that would render most pitchers retired, all to attempt a comeback for this team, the team you root for. He rehabbed every single day, extremely hard, and you have the nerve to doubt his work ethic? And where would you rather have him pitch? What does that even mean? How is he refusing to pitch elsewhere? Florida is where our pitchers rehab, St. Lucie, our spring training site, where would you want him rehabbing? NY? in cold weather?

referring to the Pedro interview:

Maybe if pedro spent more time keeping himself in shape instead of talking himself up, he wouldnt get hurt as much. Instead of sitting around refusing to pitch away from his home in florida, he would be able to avoid such injuries. but hey thats just me

Nothing, we just decided earlier that we feel passionately about this blog so we should boo when Matt makes a mistake. It's cross-promoting the boos from Shea with the blog. It's genius.

This for Matt, and anyone else, who gets tired of all the "talk" about Pedro...
An interview with Pedro from the AP from today I believe...

“I don’t know, I need to pitch first,” Martinez said. “Pitching and being great is not about talking. It’s not talking that defines greatness. Greats are defined inside the white lines. That’s where you become great or you become whatever you are. As far as Port St. Lucie and rehab, I’m nothing. Nothing counts. It’s all wasted words.”
Neither Martinez nor Mets minor league rehabilitation coordinator Randy Niemann would speculate on a date for Martinez’s return.
“It’s something that you just have to wait for it to heal,” Martinez said. “Now I’m about to get back. Hopefully, it won’t happen again. These things keep happening.”

What's the deal with the Wise situation? Isn't there a max period of time you can do rehab starts? Wise is not hurt...you can't hide him on the DL forever, without any "setbacks" or anything...

It's just silly what they're doing to this guy.

??? Dude, what's your major malfunction?!?

Matt has said he reads the first few comments because they often have notes on misspellings and such. Just trying to help, not being critical.
