you don't start bringing in your situational lefty in the 7th inning in a tied game, once Heilman gave up the lead than maybe you bring him in but he wasn't warmed up. And for everyone that says they should have had someone warming up with him, thats how you over work your bullpen. Anytime a pitcher warms up for a game its like he pitched that game and it might make him not available tomorrow. People think guys can warm up all day long and if he doesn't get in the game than he wasn't used and is fresh for tomorrow. With Pelfrey going today you couldn't use your entire pen because you might need 4 innings today out of them. Heilman is supposed to get out of that inning, thats his job, its not willie's fault. And for everyone that wanted Heilman to be the 5th starter this year, now you can see why he's not. He can't get thru 1 inning let alone 5!!!

The Marlins just lost 3 straight to the Reds, even the worst teams in the league will win 60 games and are going to beat the good teams. In the beginning of the year I'm sure everyone would have taken a 13-5 record against the Nationals for the year. You can't expect to win them all!

Look Guys, ITs not just Heilman or Willie it the whole team. How can we NOT beat these last place teams? We scored first and I thought well we will win now, then we give it back and I turned to my wife and said its over. Heilman comes in and gave up the go ahead run and I turned off the TV and went to bed. The game was over at 9pm. We cant fight back and we dont have the heart to come from behind. The wheels come flying off in the 7 th and 8 th innings. We will not go anyplace at all if we win 1 and loose 1 we will stay a 500 team. we needed to rollover the REDS and NATS and win 5 or 6 in a row or even all 7 and now the best we can hope for is 4-3 and with Big Pelf we might have to settle for 3-4. THis team is doomed.

A little off topic but I find myself wishing Delgado and Castillo both hit the dl and stay there for a while. It seems like the only way the Mets might get over the hump this year. We should challenge Argenis Reyes and 1 of our several good young 1b prospects. Our line up was actually real good in spring training, before the vets stepped in to stink it up. Arizona and Florida score runs with mostly AAA rosters. I know its rushing them but we really need some youthful energy in the line up. A lot of players perform better than expected when rushed, many more fail but its time to change our approach. I actually like Castillo, but I read today he's been playing in constant pain-that his knees haven't recovered from surgery yet. He clearly shouldn't be playing baseball yet if thats true and it sheds a whole new light on his asking for extra days off. Looking back at last year, Gotay hitting .350 for eight weeks was the most exciting part for me. We have so many underachievers we must be due for a younster to step up-Wheres our next Benny Agbayani or Butch Huskey? They don't even have to back it up- just give us a spark for couple months

The problem i have with heilman is he has the stuff to be a top setupman in this league, but the mindset of a guy thats scared to use it.

Heilman half the time looks afraid out there. I mean this is baseball, sometimes you have to challenge hitters. Say heres my 94 mph fastball, hit it if you can. Instead heilman spends most of his time pitching behind in the count because he's trying to be way to fine with his pitches. Perfect example was today, how in the hell do you walk willie harris to put another Runner in scoring position. Inexcusable.

Its not a control thing with heilman, its psychological. He needs to trust his stuff more. Like that philly game earlier in the year when he got out of that huge jam with the bases loaded. Its baseball, even the best have their bad days, Heilman needs to be more agressive and learn that if he trusts himself more he'll have more good than bad.

" I’d like to at least see another championship in my lifetime, which probably gets cut shorter and shorter every time Heilman pitches."

That is the line of the week!

I've gotta agree with sunset- If Mota can bounce back I think its foolish to think Heilman wouldn't. Omar has been selling too low lately. If we had traded Milledge a year sooner maybe the Nats throw in John Rausch and Manny Acta and pay part of Churches contract for us. lol. But seriously, no reason to trade so low- he has options and if he put some good starts together in AAA there would be interest from other teams

Growing up includes the recognition of being held accountable. Something Willie has not yet been exposed to by the Mets.

Dude, it did come up last year. Eddic friggin Coleman talked about it. I also said "Who knows?" and if so it would be "sad," and "tragic."

That's hardly saying I think itis true or that I am not acknowledging it was just a rumor. Still, if Eddie C. talks about it on 50,000 watt WFAN, it's fine. A couple od regular guys on Metsblog. It's all "the horror, the horror."

Sheesh.

PS: I wouldn't call somebody a moron in a sentence written thusly, "Are you two (you and Kayemtee) are simply morons." Say what?
