Ryan Church was 2-for-4, with a home run and four RBI last night.
In his last seven games, he has four home runs, eight RBI, and six runs scored. He is batting .385 in that stretch.
Willie Randolph, on Church’s hitting…
“His approach has been consistent. I’d still like to see him go the other way a little bit more. He’s in a real good groove right now…The results have been good. He’s seeing the ball well and just attacking the pitch in the zone. He holds well against lefties and he’s probably been our most consistent hitter. He’s done a great job so far.”
…i know willie likes to be humble with his praise, but even saying that churchy has done a great job this year, is still an understatement…
Church, on whether it is extra special to perform well against his former team…
“I don’t even think about that. It doesn’t matter what team we’re playing…I’m happy with the way things are.”

…added to by Mike Nichols…
…last night i officially confessed my man-crush on church…
…what’s so amazing is that church hits no matter where he is slotted in the lineup and continues to provide key hits with runners in scoring position, batting .333 (14-for-42) with 18 RBI, on a team that has been inconsistent in those situations…
…it’s scary to think where this team would be without church…i shudder at the thought…
