Stat: The Maine Man

by Regis Courtemanche on May 14th, 2008 at 8:39 am

Last night, John Maine went six strong innings, and allowed just one earned run on two hits.  Maine has now allowed two runs or less in his last seven starts, and his ERA has dipped down to 2.81.

He has four straight wins following a Mets loss.

Willie Randolph had this to say after the game…

“John has probably been our most consistent starter. He’s throwing the heck out of the ball. He keeps us in the game and you see him getting better and better. He’s becoming very reliable for us, he’s starting to attack the zone consistently and staying in that groove the majority of the game. He’s in a nice rhythm right now.”

…it has been great to watch maine this year, and it is an excellent compliment to be called more consistent than Johan Santana…last year, his era rose a bit after july, but i think he has the stuff to stay successful all season long…
