Just a final few things before I shut down this post...

1) I was a bit nervous, to say the least, being live, with the producer talking in my ear, etc, so it's amazing to me I even got the poll numbers correct, let alone rushed through it and accidentally misrepresented anything - if I did in fact do that. That said, I appreciate the advice, and do plan on qualifying the numbers. It bugs me that it's such a flat statement, when I know the people voting are just a small sample of the fan base. So I do want to point this out in the future.

2) Nobody at SNY has ever suggested what I say on air or in print, so if I'm rosy or positive, it's because I tend to be that way in general when it comes to something like sports, which is supposed to be a game and be fun. I've always talked and written this way, as you would know from having read the site for the last five years.

3) This was my first spot like this, so I just tried to focus and get through it. However, my larger goal is to include quotes from other comments, talk about other blogs, etc. In this case, I was just trying not to pass out.

4) I am far more comfortable in this setting than pre-taping and reading from the prompter, which was stealing any personality that I may have. This first live spot is out of the way. Next time I will be significnatly better, and I'm really excited for it.

5) THANK YOU for the support and advice. I always appreciate it.

I think you did a fine job on SNY. Everything will get much smoother the more you do it.

I would have to agree with the majority of the posts regarding the content. The Confidence Ratings stats are quite unscientific and a bit dull. I would spend more time getting into the specifics of what posters are saying.

The great thing about the blog world is that everyone's voice can be heard. To emphasize a point, you could quickly read a few lines from select posts and perhaps respond to them.

Aside from that being more entertaining(especially if someone is funny or makes a valid point) people would watch more hoping one of their posts was chosen. People would log on and post more.

Either way, win, win.
Fantastic job on the blog. I admire your passion, keep it up.

I have to say that I was bothered by the misrepresentation in the polls. 60% of us don't aprove of Willie Randolph...the averge confidence in him is 6 out of 10..

I don't know if the producers wanted you to give it a positive spin, but you're not fooling anyone when you say that the general concensus among the fans is that we approve of willie randolph. Not even close.

On the oher hand, I thought you were absolutely fine on the screen. I didn't notice the "you know"s at all...perhaps its because im from the region so it seems normal to me...but I gotta say the it is refreshing to hear a normal person speak on TV...I hope they continue to increase your air time...

Great job Matt, despite the "you know"s! You're definitely improving in front of the camera. From someone who's been there before, remember to practice talking in front of a mirror every day!

Matt,
You've done fine on all the sny appearances I have seen. I didn't notice the overuse of "you know" until reading some of the comments and rewatched the segment. In my opinion, you are a regular guy who is a big sports fan and that is the guy you should be on tv. Nobody should expect you to be a Chris Cotter or Matt Yalloff(both total geeks). Speek the way you speek, "you knows" included. People like Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, and Kevin Burkhart because they are regular, good guys who are big fans of baseball, not overly animated tv personalities. Be yourself and they will keep asking you back. Good luck and let's go mets.
