I would enjoy these commercials with Jose in them, MORE if he was getting on-base at a more consistent clip…

jamie May 14, 2008 at 3:24 pm

HAHAahha! …hilarious.

mistermet5757 May 14, 2008 at 3:25 pm

ehh i think that’s a stupid commercial…if ESPN was smart, they’d have Reyes teaching one of his elaborate hand shakes! not some kind of salsa dancing.

QnsNative718 May 14, 2008 at 3:55 pm

Ah youre a freakin buzz kill…

mistermet5757 May 14, 2008 at 5:57 pm

yeah…but not as big as Buzz Killington!

ravi3 May 14, 2008 at 4:38 pm

Mistermet—Thats where I thought the commercial was going, before the music started….I preferred the Mr.Met Sportcenter commercials better. Though my favorite has got to be the one where Wally the Green Monster sees Ortiz breaking in Posada’s Yankee cap

gomets6091 May 14, 2008 at 4:39 pm

haha that is a great one

mistermet5757 May 14, 2008 at 5:58 pm

exactly…it looks like he’s giving hitting tips, and then they go into the handshake. i just feel that would be funnier because i’ve never seen Reyes dance like that in the dugout. he actually does handshakes, so that makes more sense, in my opinion.

gipper91375 May 14, 2008 at 3:25 pm

This is less funny while he is slumping.

Steinhardt May 14, 2008 at 3:28 pm

I kinda don’t like how ESPN does all these commericals with athletes, while they’re funny, it makes them very hypocritical at the same time

gomets6091 May 14, 2008 at 4:39 pm

how does it make them hypocritical, exactly?

EliPorter May 14, 2008 at 3:37 pm

SO TRUE!

kiteless May 14, 2008 at 4:55 pm

Wow, you people could drain the fun out of anything.

MudvilleNine May 14, 2008 at 5:04 pm

I guess they dont like the 2K8 commercials either.

PacmanJones May 14, 2008 at 3:25 pm

Former MLB superstar turned professional reggaetone singer & dancer.

Ollie Ollie Oxen Free May 14, 2008 at 4:28 pm

Superstar? Between his injury plagued first 2.5 seasons and the 2nd half of last year and the first 40 games this year….tough to still call him a superstar.

TheIcon May 14, 2008 at 4:44 pm

He’s hitting .250 since last year’s All-Star break.

MiamiMetsGirl May 14, 2008 at 3:27 pm

Oh, come on you guys! You’re gonna tell me that didn’t make you laugh?!?! That made me ‘LOL’ – for real….Too funny! Although, I do agree with mistermet – the handshakes would have been even funnier!

niteplanner May 14, 2008 at 3:30 pm

that’s what was funny about it – I was led to believe he WAS teaching a handshake…and then to go into dancing! that was great

the clap May 14, 2008 at 3:27 pm

Jose definitely has a future slot on “Dancing With The Stars” if this baseball thing doesn’t work out.

zen May 14, 2008 at 3:29 pm

nobody has the ability to bring more joy to mets fans than jose reyes. i can’t wait for him to get hot. it makes the games so much fun to watch.

throatneedle May 14, 2008 at 3:35 pm

ok..but the david wright one was better. in my opinion nothing beats the david ortiz wearing a yankees cap/ wally one

Mets Fan on Wall St. May 14, 2008 at 3:39 pm

Hey Wally, it’s not what you think.

dykstraw May 14, 2008 at 3:42 pm

phew! for a second i thought he was giving hitting advice

I_Need_More_Cowbell_Please May 14, 2008 at 3:56 pm

lmao

jamie May 14, 2008 at 5:37 pm

lmao2

professor met May 14, 2008 at 3:48 pm

That was HILARIOUS! and it isn’t salsa, it’s merengue.

Another Matt May 14, 2008 at 3:49 pm

It’s still not as funny as the MLB 2K8 one with the guy smashing Jose’s boombox :)

Dennis A May 14, 2008 at 4:10 pm

Agreed – but both are very funny.

stone11375 May 14, 2008 at 4:07 pm

i’m trying to write a formula to determine the scoring efficiency of teams and i was wondering if it’s at all possible to find the number of passed balls, wild pitches, errors that an opposing team commits (PB/WP/E against?) and the number of extra bases taken due to the aforementioned without looking at every single individual game.

if you know where i can find those stats, it would be much appreciated

Andrew May 14, 2008 at 6:15 pm

You’d probably have to take that up with Elias, or go through the box scores on your own.

TheIcon May 14, 2008 at 4:31 pm

Great commercial. And I don’t understand how it’s hypocritical of them to have athletes in Sportscenter commercials. Makes sense to me. The athletes don’t get paid to be on the commercials. ESPN makes a donation to the charity of their choice.

zer09 May 14, 2008 at 7:32 pm

hahahaha you know that how? i guarantee you jose cashed in from this one…
