Our farm is already depleted. I believe that only Pittsburgh had a worse-rated system based on Baseball America.

In other words, if you don’t like the 2008 Mets, there is nothing good on the horizon.

If the Rockies continue to fall then it is an option with the Mets if only because of the Mets ability to meet his request for a 4 year contract after ‘09. Not many teams can pay like the Mets and Yankees.

Chips? yeah…if we totally depleted our farm then we could do it. We could even throw in Heilman as an extra!

Rosenthal’s Latest: Rockies Could Trade Holliday

In Ken Rosenthal’s latest column, he sees Matt Holliday as a prime candidate to be traded this summer. Rosenthal notes that the Rockies are already 10 games back and have very little chance of signing Holliday to an extension. Holliday is signed through ‘09 with $13MM due next season.

But Holliday, an All-Star left fielder, might not be in Colorado much longer if the Rockies do not revive soon.

The Rockies, 10 games back in the NL West, almost certainly would consider trading Holliday, knowing they stand little chance of keeping him long-term.

I would also love to see the media assign some spanish speaking writers every now and then to cut off that excuse that some of the players are hiding behind vs owning up to thier dismal performances.

I do think Willie has lost the team and unless some players are going to man-up and say and show some fight, he will have to go to change the attitude.

But thats the tough part of baseball, passion is good, pressing is bad and makes things worse….. the key is to be confident and passionate and I think those are traits that you have or dont, not ones you can adopt or learn.

It also doesnt seem that Omar looked at competitiveness in the people he was adding vs them being productive….once and of course being Latin seemed to be a priority as well. How did we get the non fiery latin ballplayers?????

Mets are a bunch of lifeless, gutless wonders right now. They lack energy, passion and that is the manager. He took away any fight they had left by telling players to tone it down. BIG MISTAKE WILLIE. You took the drive out of your team. When you lost the team it becomes an issue. Bring back the Boys of 86….

Mets don’t even do the fundamental things on the field anymore. It’s a shame.
