Pedro hitting 90? I can see it , maybe 2-3 times, out of 41 pitches, I can see him coming back mid June, he has 10-12 starts in his body a year now, why rush him, save him for August and Sept., Lets see what Vargas has, or what Armas jr can give us, big start for pelfrey, lets see if he has turned a corner and is reading to give us 6-7 inning, playing with the mouth piece, like a child with his security blanket

I am VERY sceptical of the report of hitting 90 with his fastball.

Im excited about Pedro's return and think hell be an effective pitcher for the Mets this year. I also think that this break at the start of the season may be a good thing, a la Clemens, in that it may help keep Pedro's arm fresh come September.

But I am assuming that he gets it done with wile as much as anything else, and would expect 88 mph tops. If he's actually - and I mean ACTUALLY - touching 90, then my expectations might rise a bit.

Not that Pedro is an option this soon anyway, but they cant split the game because Vargas would have to be DFA to make room for Pedro. Can't do that in the 5th inning...

He hit 90... so? Who knows if the gun was accurate, I mean, the gun in Philly claims Cole Hamels hits 97.

I agree.

Let me also add this....there will be no other time in the 2008 season, other than the all-star break, when the team is this rested.

Look at the schedule and the days off they have had over the last 2 weeks (to include the rainout).

It is exactly the right time for these guys to go out and get on a major roll...momentum breeds momentum.

This clubhouse needs Pedro's presence...someone like him, who talks a lot, is very vocal but in a more relaxed and positive way than people like LoDuca and Wags are/were. So, having him back give that clubhouse more juice and I think less of a chance of malaise settling in after they win a few in a row, which I think is the fan bases' biggest gripe for over a year now.

It's time for this team to stop talking and start producing. In 2007, they acted like they already had a ring and someone was going to hand them another one in the 2007 playoffs.

They "seem" to be getting some swagger back, but I'll believe it after they show me some consistency.

Believe me, I don't think 22-19 is anything to write home about. I have gotten past the abberation that was the Phillies winning the division last year, but I really think the only way the fans/media will ever get over it is with a nice 8-10 game winning streak.

This team has played like a .500 team for too long. It's time to use the Yankee series momentum to springboard us.

I also have something to take issue with...something D-Wright said. He said hopefully we don't have a let down going to Atlanta after the Yankee series. Is he serious? They should be more pumped for the Atlanta series. This is a team that dominated them last year (until the last series) and is already up a game in the season series this year. No letdowns for division rivals David....please.

22-19 right now is "OK" (thank you Yankees). Go 5-2 on this road trip and we are 27-21, and that is "Good"...get Pedro back and play .600 baseball the rest of the way and we finish....

With 95 or 96 wins.

Ands that is enough.

I think the fans went from HOPING to win, to EXPECTING to win. I'm not sure that's a great thing, because when you get off to a 22-19 start, panic sets in within the fan base. In my opinion though, I think it has been a turning point for the organization. Probably something I would endorse again if we had to play out 2005 all over again.
