The Mets didn’t just beat the Yankees, they completely owned them. They were a completely different team than the one that played the Nationals. Can that carry over? With this team, who knows. What I do know is the Yankees threw seven different arms at the Mets, and five of them were tagged for earned runs. They just beat up on everyone, hot or cold. Wang and Chamberlain combined to give up 8 ER in 8.2 IP. The only guys to escape harm were Jose Veras and Edwar Ramirez with a scoreless inning apiece.

BTW, anyone catch Jim Edmonds trying to do his best Carlos Beltran impression on Tal’s Hill just now on ESPN? Not quite as impressive as Beltran’s, but pretty crazy still.

Is Scott Ferrall on this clip? If so, I’d sooner eat my computer than watch it.

Scotty Ferrall is the best person on TV now he is hilarious. He is the reason I watch SNY at all during the daytime.

Tierney is so critical of the Mets sometimes it’s absurd but I respect him

“Scotty Ferrall is the best person on TV now.”

Wow. So this infantile mouth-breather whose voice makes me want to throw my TV out the window is “the best person on TV now”? That’s a sad comment on TV if I ever heard one.

Jon Lester just threw a no-hitter. Fantastic, as if Boston fans could be any moe insufferable.

those bastards have had 18, we’ve had none. WTF?

By the way, that site No No-Hitters (its one of the links on the left of this page) is pretty cool, has some great (and depressing) stats on there about the Mets no-hit history.

  5. zen says:

ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Pedro Martinez threw 4 1/3 innings of a simulated game Monday and the Mets plan to have him throw a bullpen session Wednesday or Thursday in Atlanta.

Martinez, who has been out since straining his left hamstring April 1 in his only start of the season for New York, threw 77 pitches.
