Ryan Church left last night game’s with a concussion, suffered while trying to break up a game-ending double play.
Brian Schneider told WFAN a few moments ago that he talked with Church this morning by phone, and the young outfielder is ‘doing good,’ and will report to the field today at regular time, though it is doubtful he will play.

Superman is does ‘good….Ryan Church is doing ‘well’
EDIT: Superman does ‘good’….Ryan Church is doing ‘well’
I love when a member of the grammar police has to correct his own typo.
isn’t it great? lol
Ryan Church IS Superman.
Get well soon. Do NOT rush back from this.
Much as this team needs him, that’s two concussions in three or four months. We’ll miss him a lot, but his health is the most important thing right now.
So? Call Schneider and let him know, since it was a quote.
That’s it. CUT HIM!
I think this will be a HUGE chance for the Mets to show that they can step it up….
This is gonna be a tough ten days without Churchy…
Where has it been reported that he will be out 10 days?
I misread a post about it saying he was down for 10 MINUTES. my bad, but yeah I think it will be at least a week…
Where did you hear 10 days?
These things can linger, especially since he’s had one recently. I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes a month, maybe more.
early speculation has been a week to 10 days, since it was mild. However, those who have given that prediction also noted the unpredictability with head injuries, so we shall see.
Thank god…He took a nasty shot. Glad to hear the rev doin ok!!
It was an a previous thread that he’d be out for about 10 days.
Sucks. Would’ve liked to have had the MVP in Coors to hit some bombs. Let’s go Endy! Pagan should be coming off the DL soon, no?
glad he’s better…losing that production now, of all times…big hurt.
church, we need you right now,you are the mvp. get back soon
But not too soon! I really hope that he doesn’t get rushed back, as after each concussion, it gets easier and easier to get the next. Don’t get me wrong, his production will be sorely missed, but at the end of the day, it’s just a game and not worth risking long-term health. That said, I really want to see the Big Pelf unleash a 97 mph fastball up and in the first time Escobar’s up and send a message (or perhaps return the favor). These guys need to get back in the habit of picking each other up and rallying around one another. Plus, who wouldn’t want to see the benches-clearing brawl that would ensue?
Glad Metsblog has 47 writers now – and none of them has felt the need to post that Pedro landed in Atlanta, then immediately left the team to fly back to the DR to be with his sicks dad. Don’t expect him back for LAD next week now.
and yet you still managed to find the information on your own, amazing!
Really? Where did you read this?
Why? He pitched yesterday and probably wouldn’t pitch again for a week.
I just read on the mets website that after arriving in ATL he boarded on a plane to DR. He received word grim word that his father is not doing well.
they said during the broadcast testerday that Pedro will come to ATL and throw a bullpen session. That is all. And it’s hardly earth-shattering news.
Sorry, but you don’t get a pulitzer for your indepth research.
Get well soon Ryan, we desperately need you!
I’m so glad to hear this; I really hope he gets well soon. Lov churchiee, he will def. be missed in the lineupp. These guys don’t have the fearlessness and the heart he has shown thru this year.
Mike and the Angry Puppy just called the Met fans yahoos (or bozos).
Why am I listening to this?
Over what??
LOL, over silence? I’m not sure. Willie’s suppose to be on today and they just ripped Willie (and the fans) to shreds.
Exactly — over silence — because their livelihoods depend on agitation, and they want angry Met fans to call in. “Entertainment” (loosely defined) ensues.
Screw calling them. They treat their callers like garbage and cut them off before they have a chance to make their point. Not only that, but why should a fan call them with any passion over the Willie stuff? These two guys will rip Willie apart until three minutes before his segment, then they’ll kiss his ass while he’s on the air. Then after he’s gone they’ll talk about the Yankees for the rest of the day. What self-respecting Mets fan wants to have any part of that?
Fatso has to talk about anything to keep the heat off his beloved, nosediving yanks.
Well done Mets, well done.
Fatcesa is such a joke. At least Dog will admit when he’s wrong, and Lord knows he’s wrong plenty of times. Fatcesa is either a) always right b) when he does say he’s wrong, it was because he got bad information.
As rocky as things are here, they are worse in the Bronx, a lot worse.
Best scenario we could of hoped so.
When i think about one solid part of this team, Church comes to mind.
Dude’s a pro. May not be the highest paid or talented. But he buckles down and gets it done.
This guy is a gamer. I am glad he will be our right fielder for the next few years. Mets MVP and all-star rep!
Church..wow…….who would have thought that he would be this important to this team and the fans. Get well and come back soon….we need a prototypical tough minded player on this team as a role model.
Young outfielder? He’s almost 30.
So is Chase Utley. He’ll be 30 at the end of the year, so let’s not call him a young second baseman.
damn, reading this blog always makes me feel ancient.
Why does anyone listen to Mike and the Mad Dog they are torture.
Watch the Wheelhouse 5:30 on SNY Ferrall is hilarious
Church’s cat scan negative. He says he feels nothing like he did after that concussion a couple of months ago. Said he wants to play tonight but they’ll error on the side of caution and probably give him a couple of days – so says Kevin B. on the pregame show.
glad to hear he’s all right. What a gamer. Where can we get more like him ????
