What team is Guillen on?
Maybe Pedro can start against them and hit him 3 times in a game like he did in 06.

I didn't think I'd ever agree with this sentiment but after all that has happened since Wainright buckled Beltran's knees...I agree.

I'm tired of reading about Pedro side sessions and rehab progress as if there is some hope of him regaining good form and health and anchoring this rotation. I hope for it but it will never happen.

Injuries aside...all the positive vibes in Spring Training came crashing down in the 4th inning of Game 2 against the Marlins when Pedro grabbed his hamstring and hobbled off the mound.

I'm almost numb to the pain at this point. Almost.

Not one guy on that 86 team won it single-handedly. The team did. They all contributed. Plus they had a manager who knew how to win. Same as the 69 team and their manager. Pedro is NOT the problem - but he is an aging player who's best days are behind him. But the rest of TEAM can't get out of its own way. And a manager who's lost them.

I second that.

I'll believe it when I see it, and if I do see it, he will just hurt something else.

Always a big Pedro fan, but I am just about done with him as well.

Dude ,but Straw Won us a Championship baby and that's all that matters... Straw is enshrined in Met IMMORTALITY for his contributions... and so is RAY KNIGHT for that matter... and he only played 3 years with the METS... And it was because KNIGHT showed what he was made of while he was with the METS... Guys who busted and gave a crap about Winning BAseball are guys that I really enjoy rooting... Not guys who just show up to the ballpark and goof off...
Give me players like Nails and Backman all Day on the Mets...

Pedro Martinez was a brilliant pitcher... Yes for the Dodgers/Expos/REdsox... My point on Pedro is yes he was a great pitcher ,but signing Pedro to a 4 year deal was a horrible baseball move... It locked up alot of money to a guy who has not contributed... 2005?? Mets didn't even make the playoffs so let's not call that season a success... Bottom Line on Pedro is Yes HOF pitcher.. Bad Baseball Move for Sure for the Mets... Giving Ace type money to a guy who will average 7 wins a game a Year is an Utter FAILURE...

Did you ever actually see Strawberry play in person? Half the time he looked like he would lapse into a coma at the plate and in the outfield.

And how is this Pedro's fault? I guess it's beyond you that brilliant ballplayers don't last forever. The Mets signed him at the tail-end of his career and basically have to take what they can get. The Pedro they got in 2005 injected some life into this team and it pitched pretty damn good at times. His health issues were for all to see at the end of his time in Boston. You got a problem with Pedro's health, take it up with the guys who signed him. Everyone knew then his health was going to be an issue. Some Met fans can still appreciate a true talent when they see one, even one who's on the verge of retirement. In fact, I'm so old I saw, in person, the great Willie Mays actually play in a Met uniform in 1973 and though he was at the end of his brilliant HOF career at that point, Met fans went nuts seeing him in a Mets uniform. I can't tell you to like what Pedro gave the Mets at this stage of the game, but what burns up some of us here is how little respect you have towards such an amazing talent, though well past his prime, and how little you understand or "get" the fleeting beauty of the game. It ain't Pedro's fault the Mets suck this bad right now. To me, the kind of fan who can't see past the "what have you done for me lately" concept is pretty sad. And jeez, how Mets fans have changed so much for the worse!
