  1. Tatis for El Presidente Del Mundo!

    (Good to hear about PornStache)

can i just say that i think that is ridiculous having 2 backups in our outfield i think its time to maybe get f-mart some work. let him come in for like 10 days until church is heathy and get a decent taste of the bigs. and who knows maybe hell go david wright on us and rip it up and well keep him maybe bc our hitting cant get much worse!

      • Meddler says:

        Isn’t he still out?

        • imissthemojo says:

Can’t bring F-Mart out guys…he’s still rehabbing his hammy is St. Lucie.

        • imissthemojo says:

Plus….F-Mart is nowhere near ready to play in the big leagues. I honestly think it’s a blessing in disguise that he’s injured right now, otherwise the Mets would easily choose to rush him. Bringing him right now would be a huge mistake. The Mets need to not follow their precedent and keep F-Mart in the minors. They do not want to overexpose this kid too early considering they’re banking their future on him.

  2. JefJarrett says:

Valentin…..theres your replacement for Marlon Anderson

    • daga89 says:

No Valentine is a replacement for punch and judy , gimpy, dont give a flying F,,,, Castillo.
Only hope for Willie is to play the reserves for a bit to see if they have some fire or that this group gets pissed enough to trash a clubhouse and maybe fight back.

BTW why was Tatis on the bench for so long, yes he swings for the fences but how many ground ball pull outs from DelGa-noclue can you watch……

Meanwhile this team is as tight as it gets and sitting Reyes, Wright, Delganoclue and Beltran for a bit (cant hurt 0-5)….Need a shakeup and though I dont want it to be willie I dont know how many choices there are…..

      UGHHHHHHHH

  3. kapnasty says:

Awesome, another fragile old man getting ready to come back. This is just what the Mets need.

    • youknowwhatimsayin says:

And one who really isn’t 100 percent… one who like Duque, refused surgery.

What a waste of time. The Mets can’t be serious. I’m tired of these guys (Alou, Valentin, Duque, even Pedro) holding the Mets hostage. It’s time to cut ties with many of these guys. The Mets need to move forward.

  4. Cactus says:

    He’s still alive?

  5. losmets5 says:

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I want Valentin back. Me of all people.

  6. EliPorter says:

who cares? these are the new york mets, not the all-social security team

  7. D in Ben Lomond says:

this could be good… I hope he tries some at first…

  8. bill metsiac says:

Oddly enough, he played SS tonight, instead of one of the easier positions or DH.

  9. youknowwhatimsayin says:

Why are the Mets wasting their time with Valentin?

They need to get YOUNGER AND HEALTHIER… not the other way around.

  10. metsfan1 says:

We can use anyone we can get. Maybe he will help Reyes. Worst comes to Worst, he can learn about becoming a manager in case the Mets fire Willie.

  11. imissthemojo says:

I just sent an email to Cerrone…but speaking of young and healthier…

The Mets called up Nick Evans from Binghamton earlier tonight. He will join the Mets in Denver tomorrow.

So how bout that for younger & healthier!! Hat tip to Nick & lots of luck!

    • Flushing_is_Burning says:

      whos getting send down?

      • imissthemojo says:

no idea who will fill Evans’ place in Bing. I will keep you posted as soon as I find out the moves they will make.

        • Meddler says:

They shouldn’t even need a major replacement. They were already forced to throw Carp in LF a few times to make sure he, Evans, and Murphy kept getting ABs. Now Carp gets 1B, Murphy 3B, and who was the original normal LF when the DH was still being used?

    • daga89 says:

Yea Im all for new blood, BTW anyone check to see how Mike Jacobs is doing, trading away youth is a tough decision….especially for delga-no clue….Hell with the rules Willie….import some HGH for these “suddenly” old players…..

  12. metz1 says:

go nickie!!!!!!! its about time we see what these kids can do! anybody know what happened to mike carp?

  13. metsfan1 says:

Is this true? We lost Anderson. I would think we would want a middle infielder. If he is brought up, do you think he will platoon with Delgado?

    • imissthemojo says:

Evans played both left and 1st in Bing. He played 1st majority of the time and I believe he is also capable of playing 3rd if you really needed him to. Someone above asked where Carp was & he is still with Binghamton. I assume because he recently was just put back in the lineup after sitting out 10 days with an injury is why Evans gets the call first.

      • Meddler says:

I think Evans also has a bit more experience in the outfield. He’s a more athletic type than Carp, who’s more of a slugging 1B/DH type. The only reason they’ve been playing with Carp in LF is because the three hottest hitters on the team are all corner INFs.

  14. mrmet1969 says:

    AND!

  15. MetfanMD says:

i believe carp/evans played first base and left field in the minors….i would call up both…we seem to be losing oldies left and right….

    • imissthemojo says:

I wouldnt be surprised to see another middle of the lineup guy get the call up from Bing in the near future. The senior citizens on the Mets need to get the hell out of there.

  16. daga89 says:

yes and the Latino Sr Citizen tour is brought to you by Omar, where if they aint dead yet and they speak espanol….give em 30Mil!!

    • Therealdeal1337 says:

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement, look at the marlins a team that has broken down its roster and replaced it with youngsters more times then Giuseppe Franco gets air time on SNY, the mets gotta start getting younger and stop handing out 401k plans, were not a retirement home were a major league ballclub!

  17. metsfansberealistic says:

    our new lineup

    1B Carp
    2B Valentin
    SS Reyes
    3B Wright
    LF Evans
    CF Beltran
    RF Church
    C Schneider

    I like it

    bench

    Easley
    Chavez
    Tatis
    Anderson Hernandez
Casanova (cut Castro – he’s done jack)

    not bad

and send Heilman down for Muniz
and stretch out Aaron – either he or Pedro become your 5th starter

    • Cactus says:

demote heilman to the bullpen a few years ago for pitching too well..promote him to the starting rotation now for pitching poorly….way to run a team!

  18. imissthemojo says:

Muniz should def. get the call up from N.O….

    • Meddler says:

I agree 100%. Having Sanchez, Wise & Heilman is just one too many changeup guys. They’re not fooling anyone, especially after the other team has been sitting on changeups from Santana/Maine/Vargas all game long already anyway.

  19. youknowwhatimsayin says:

Aside from Wagner, the Mets sorely lack a power arm in that bullpen. It looks like Sanchez will never be able to throw in the velocity pre-accident.

That said, if and when Pedro returns, Wise should be DFAed, Vargas becomes the long man/swing man. IMO, he’s pitched well enough to be considered being kept on the big league roster. The Mets need Heilman to get his head out of his arse.

    Santana
    Pedro
    Maine
    Perez
    Pelfrey

    Pen

    Vargas
    Heilman
    Sanchez
    Smith
    Feliciano
    Wagner
