That would be Ryan Church....just sayin'. On the same token we did see Church fairly often as a National, but most of that time was spent mixed with their myriad of outfielders.

Endy wasn't injured in '06. That happened last year.

I really hope not.

If nothing else, I am hoping Omar has opened his eyes enough to realize the mistake he made trying to put his eggs on old, injury prone players.

Alou and Duque are wonderful players, but none do any good not being on the field. Omar has to turn the page and not depend on these guys anymore. I think doing that hurts the team more than it helps.

I hope that Evans flourishes. Willie needs to also stop being Daddy Jacka$$ and stop throwing wet blankets on these kids when they do well. He use to do this ad nauseum with Heilman a couple of years ago... and then he trashed Pagan in the media. Not very nice.

Evans looked better in one day than Easley and Catch McBunt (Endy Chavez) have looked all season.

Willie, if he is smart, will ride the hot hand, and not subject fans to more "I need to get Chavy some at-bats"... IMHO, Endy has been allowed to milk that catch in the 2006 NLCS, to the point that his terrible lack of hitting is overlooked.

Now, I am NOT advocating that Evans get a permanent starting job, but I am saying better be in the starting lineup tomorrow. He seems like a poised, quietly confident kid, who had the right hitting approach today.

I am no big fan, but I am willing to see Tatis get a shot at 2B. I am sick of Castillo and his knees.

Give Evans a while and a chance to play every day and he'll figure it out. He likely will only hit about .260 vs. RHP at the most, but he does show signs of being on a pretty good learning curve (unlike Carp, who seems absolutely clueless against breaking ball-tossing southpaws). He can go with pitches, hit hanging breaking stuff from RHP's, and I do think he can develop into at the very least a solid (if not great) MLB first baseman.

Of course, there is a problem. He needs regular playing time to develop. And of course, as we know, Willie will go with "his guys," even if Evans is batting .340 from both sides of the plate...

Yep, Dr. Strangeglove. Also "Stonefingers," though that was more near the beginning of his career. And yes, saying Val Pascucci is a worse fielder is saying a LOT.

yeah, it's amazing how so many judge a player they have never seen play, and then assign attributes to him as well. of course these are the same fans who ripped Brian Church all winter as "4th ourfielder at best" and demanded the mets to get Pelfry up from AAA two years ago at this time.

first impressions of Evans (after seeing just one game obviously) is that he reminds me of Dave Magadan from the right side. He insides out everything, has good at bats, and unfortunately runs alot like Magadan.

You're dead on with moving Reyes to second in the order. You look at Reyes and Castillo, and clearly the numbers (on base and slugging) favor a switch.
Castillo
Reyes
Church
Beltran
Wright
Alou/Evans/Delgado
Delgado/Evans
Schneider
