The mets don’t have a clean up hitter. Beltran isn’t one. Beltran is a great CF, with above average tools in all aspects of the game, but he just can’t be the guy to carry the team.

Frustrating that he gets paid like that guy......

I don't agree with there being an issue of Latin players not working hard or hustling. That kind of stuff comes up over and over again, and while I don't agree with it, well how can I put this gently?

I believe people are people and all people should be treated as equals because they are equals, and that's the way they should be treated until they give you a real reason not to be treated that way. But... And I know I will get killed for saying this. It doesn't come from any personal prejudice against anyone:

Shea has changed. The entire experience has changed. I don't know if it's Omar, or Bernazard, or someone else who makes these decisions, but the entire experience of going to Shea Stadium is no longer really an American baseball experience. I don't personally care, so please don't call me racist or anything like that, because I am not. But they do try very hard to hit the fans up with Latin music and culture almost from the second you get there. For example, except for the 8th inning song, almost all of the music is in Spanish; before during, and after the game.

I DON'T CARE. I go and I have fun and if I didn't enjoy it I would stop going. But maybe it is a little bit heavy-handed. It might just turn many fans off, and it might make people feel like the whole thing is being shoved down their throat. The most important thing the team can do right now is play good baseball and start winning the games they are supposed to win. But it wouldn't kill whoever makes the decisions on the atmosphere at Shea to mix it up a little bit. I do get the feeling that some people who have gone for a long time are feeling excluded now. Maybe some of those people are projected their frustrations on an underperforming team. Just an observation from someone who would like to see EVERYONE have more fun at the games.

FireOmar,

The way it works in sports is the GM gets the extra opportunity. This is the team he put together, that's correct. He owned up to that yesterday in saying they have championship talent. That point is hard to argue. Now, the question is this. Whose job is it to develop that championship talent into a championship team? I think it's the manager's job. He needs to light a fire under these guys' asses really quick. I think Omar will get thru next year, while Willie will be gone this year if things don't turn around.

I don't want to see either one of them go, because I think they have both brought respectability and credibility back to this organization. I am in favor of shaking things up though.

I agree, the latin players don't hustle? god thats disturbing comment from gentry, this is a team issue, I think then main issue is the manager is really not that special, there's plenty of talent on this team, that plays hard, they are definitely out of sync, but Willie has no clue in how to change their style of play, right now I see a team with speed, its lost power with Alou and Church hurt, so the team needs to manufactor runs, Willie just sits there and will watch the game like fan, how about running more , hit and runs, Sac bunts, , nope, not Willie, you have to fight your way out of a slump, Willie just writes lineup cards

Omar needs to start showing accountability for the team that HE put together - players and coaches alike. HE needs to be put on the hot seat. Lets see what moves HE can make instead of "supporting willie" all of the time. BTW nice farm system he put together too.

OMAR - hold yourself accountable for once!!!!!!!!

Seriously. These guys are staying up late to provide post-game recaps and analysis while people rip into them for grammar.

Is this team so bad that blogs are now under fire as well?

Get race out of the equation. The ENTIRE team is slumping, not just certain players. Heilman, Maine, Big Pelf, Schneider, DWright... Carlos(s), Reyes, Perez, Castillo... EVERYONE on this team is just playing down right terrible baseball.

I just hope they can turn this season around.

I'll say what many think, but few have the balls to say...

These Latin players play like they don't care - because they really don't!

There's definitley a culture/communication gap on this team...

Wright will never be able to captain a predominantly Latin team...

AND

These Latin players will never respect and/or play hard for a black man...

(Just check out the statistics of the "Latin Vote" for Obama)...
