Over the weekend, the Mets told reporters that Pedro Martinez will pitch for Single-A St. Lucie tomorrow, after which he is expected to start for the Mets in San Francisco against the Giants.
…you know what, enough already…i’m sick of being teased by pedro and Moises Alou…get back, stay healthy and start earning your money, guys…
…yes, pedro did a lot to help bring credibility to this organization…now it’s time to bring wins…

I love Pedro and I want to be happy, but I don’t think he’ll turn this team around.
SNY showed a stat last night that the Mets have only won 1 game all season where they trailed after the 6th inning. That is pitiful, and is clearly the offense’s fault.
i agree…this team needs a lot more than pedro…i am very happy that he helped turn this organization around…but that was 2005…it’s 2008…we need something, and it would be nice to have him back pitching and winnings games and earning his money, same thing with alou…i’m sick of alou, yes it’s nice to have these guys when they are healthy, but that is the thing…when you are on the DL more than you play…how does it help???…maybe sometimes you need to just cut your losses…
Since losing Church to injury and Moises to injury we have won one game….conincidence, I think not! That is at least part of the problem
Agreed Matthew. Pedro needs to get back on the field and contribute towards wins…..
Manaya had no backup plan for WHEN (not if) Alou would go on the disabled list. And please don’t say Marlon Anderson – he is not an outfielder.
there was no “backup” plan in 2006 when Cliff Floyd spent virtually the entire season on the DL.
the most effective back up plan is Reyes, Wright, Beltran, Church and Delgado performing up to or near their offensive abilities, none of that is happening with any consistency.
This team is a wreck.
It might be time to accept that we might have to struggle just to avoid finishing last this year.
Matt,
Agreed! Alou and Martinez just have not earned their money because of these injuries.
I thought Alou signed a relatively cheap contract. I’d say he’s earned his money.
Are you kidding? The Mets are paying him a cool $8 mil- he’s played what, 20 games this year?
I meant this year and last, but yeah he hasn’t earned his money this year.
Forget about this guy already.
That’s basically how I feel about him and El Duque. If either of them can come back and be effective great, but I’m not really expecting it to happen.
Unless Pedro can hit I really don’t think his “presence” or contribution (what a novel thought) will do much to help this team of dogs.
oh scott kazmir, come back to us.
ughhhh, don’t get me started. You know he’s the same age as Pelfrey? It seems like he’s in his 30s right now.
“get back, stay healthy and start earning your money, guys…”
That’s a little harsh, but more than that, unrealistic. You knew what you were getting when you signed these two. Anything you get from Pedro is gravy at this point, he can’t be counted on for diddly poo (except a second trip to the DL, which I’ll predict happens in July)
Totally agreed. Pedro and Alou would rather play than be injured. The rest of the team needs to pick them up. That’s why they’re a TEAM.
Say what you will about Pedro and his underwhelming performance as a Met record-wise, he does add a spark to the team and the clubhouse. (Does anyone have the Mets’ record with him active and on the DL?)
And we need any and all spark right now…
the better he pitches, the more we can get for him at the deadline
Pedro WHO!????
Pedro is the worst free agent contract signed in Mets history. Even worse than Bobby Bonilla, Kaz Matsui and Luis Castillo
