For his safety, he should go on the 15 day DL. Two headshots in 2 months cannot be good.

Wait until you read Wednesday's NY Times story about Church... All I'm going to say is I really hope that he is back to normal... at some point in his career. The stuff about Corey Koskie is frightening.

I still find it hard to believe that people think that Beltran doesn't give 100% -- did you see his catch in CF tonight? Certainly was giving 100% on that one. Just because he's a gifted athlete and makes things look easy doesn't mean he's not trying. Smashing into walls doesn't makes you a great player. Byrnes had a fine year last year, but he's no Beltran.

Castillo, on the other hand, I'd trade for 10 new maple bats...

Agree, Evans should be out for defense.

The bigger question is: Why is Willie still the manager?

Here are the facts, you decide:

The NY Mets were actually 21 games over .500 last Sept. 12. Since Sept. 12th and after last night's 7-3 loss to the Marlins, they're 28-38. That's 10 games under .500 folks, numbers don't lie.

With Willie Randolph as their manager this team has been a sub .500 team going on almost a full season now. They lost to the Cardinals (an inferior team in my opinion and many others) in the 2006 NLCS, then they went on to give us the biggest choke in Major-league Baseball history , losing 12 of their last 17 while blowing a seven-game lead.

If a manager can ONLY be judged and evaluated by his team's performance on the field then Mr. Randolph is falling way short of expectations. Granted, not all of this mess is his fault.

It's not his fault that Mr. Delgado can't hit his way out of a paper bag, or that his "Genius" GM gave a 32-year old second baseman playing like he's 50 a 4-year contract. But, when it comes right down to it, this is a team with the highest payroll in the NL @ over 140 Million is playing like a team with a 40 Million payroll (actually the Marlins have a 40 Million payroll and they manage to be 10 games over .500).

Let's hope somehow, someway they turn this thing around and soon. One thing I can gaurantee you, the Marlins will not win the NL East, they will come down to earth by mid season. It's still early and maybe by the AllStar Break all this mess with the Mets will be ancient history. Go Mets!!

Well for anyone who thought this team could play a nine-inning game, think again.

Why is Evans still in this game in the 7th inning?

Or at least not allowed to travel with the team. Even if it was his first concussion concussions and compressurized air cabins don't exactly go together.
