No, that's not the only problem. He can't field either, for starters. Tell me a winning team that he's been on......none. I'm not "projecting" anything. Tell me why the media and any other attention gravitates towards Delgado when other teammates talk about players not having any fire or passion. The guy epitomizes the aloof and uncaring attitude that hurts this team. It's plain to see that win or lose, it doesn't matter to him.

unlike the Yankees the Mets play God Bless America about four times a year, opening day, Memorial Day, July 4 and Flag day.

No problem winning with Delgado in 2006 when he was putting up the best numbers on the team in the playoffs.

Half the players on the Mets where in the minor leagues if in baseball when Delgado protested standing for God Bless America, you get no sense of his attitude other than what you want to project of imagine, he ain't hitting the ball and that is the only problem.

el duque? really, lol. i stopped wondering where he was years ago. lets face it, this year is over. pedro wont be in it mentall with a dyign father. castillo isnt good, so u cant hope for him to be good, its like hoping for rosie odnonell to be hott. alou will come and go. delgado is finished. lets start campaigning for a 2010 championship

Delgado is not a winner, he hasn't won anywhere he's been. He's is bad for team chemistry and doesn't care if he wins or loses. You can get a sense of his attitude by things like the whole God Bless America issue when he refused to stand for the song. It's things like this that drive a wedge between teammates. I think he still doesn't stand for that song. Notice that the networks don't show the dugout when the song is playing. I've been to lots of games, and I haven't been able to find him during that song.

That's not a good GM then. As a GM, you need to see these things. Sometimes you need to swallow your pride and do what you gotta do. Delgado is not a winner anymore. The end of his career snuck up on him and it's time to cut the leash. I actually agree with Gammons when he says make a trade for someone like Millar who can bring more to this team that just what he does on the field. But if not via trade, promote Pascucci and see what he can do on the big league stage. I just cannot bare to watch Delgado swing and miss any more. I change the channel when he is up bc i already know the outcome....not what you want from your 1B.

The mets have never had the the balls to eat a contract and cut ties with a player (except Bobby Bo in '99 which he's getting paid for until 2028). I don't think the owners or Minaya has the balls to just say "we need to move in a different direction. Now."
