That has been known for two weeks. But thank you for the helpful info. I haft to say thank you for the fair judgment and being optimistic on willie Randolph

    • all162 says:

Any news on when the mets/yanks makeup will be?

      • turbot72lou says:

There will be a day night double header going from game one in the bronxe to shea at night in there next seris. I think it will be a sunday one because espn has the sunday game and fox has a 3:55pm sat game

        • mrose says:

actually Espn doesn’t have the sunday night game

        • Only1311DaysLeft says:

They were saying they may do it Friday afternoon/Friday night double header from stadium to stadium. As far as I’m concerned, the novelty of that has worn off significantly.

They should have simply played the game last sunday at 1PM.

        • all162 says:

If it is re-scheduled as a friday day/night double header, it will create an all-time NYC traffic hell.
Friday afternoons, during the summer are already
bad enough traffic wise. Police closed down the deegan & grand central the last 2 times they did this
although it was on a weekend. Now you combine that with 110,000 people trying to leave and get to a game at the same time during rush-hour with highways being closed!

Good thing I’m on vacation on that day.

  2. Don't mess with the Johan says:

And then we have to fly to the west coast for a Monday night game? All for a student/teacher game? When Did Joe v. Willie turn into Bobby Knight v. Coach K? Totally bogus

    • Nate W. says:

yea, that travel arrangement is just a tad unfair. They could have passed on that one anyway. I think ESPN smells the blood in the water and wants to get the exclusive on the game after Willie gets fired. Of course its too soon, if anything they will do it on the way back from SD. If the Mets struggle in SF and/or SD it should be the final nail in the coffin.

  3. ToastyJoe says:

I think you’re all forgetting the worst part about this news: Joe Morgan will now be calling the game. Shoot me now.

    • turbot72lou says:

Oh no i forgot that. uugghhh

    • hbean says:

And we get to listen to Jon Miller say Carlos BelTRAAAAN all night.

I hate ESPN games. Gary, Keith and Ron should bust into the broadcast booth with baseball bats and take the place by force.

      • Flushing_is_Burning says:

They can use Delgado as their bodyguard… i think he’s not doing anything

      • Danny says:

Miller is just about the only guy that pronounces Beltran’s name correctly.

        • o please, he announces it like that because he wants us all to know how amazingly intelligent and bilingual he is. He has no idea he’s actually pronouncing it right. If he knew he was saying it correctly I’m sure he would immediately stop. I swear to god I’ve heard him roll the ‘r’ in David Wright.

        • Danny says:

I think he’s just enjoying himself and injecting a little fun into the broadcast. What’s so wrong with that?

And his pronunciation is 100% correct.

        • iamatwork says:

There’s a difference between saying “beltran” and “beltron” (the correct pronunciation) and “beltrohhhhnnnnnnnnn” which miller does.

          it’s crap.

        • toomanyuniforms says:

Agreed. It’s not “injecting fun,” it’s being an asinine showboat. Just call the frigging game, please. . . . And you don’t hear him calling Schoeneweis “Sher-ne-vize”)

        • Don Hahn says:

also the way Miller says ” scenario”, he’s very pompous

        • Danny says:

Miller used to do the Orioles broadcasts, and since I live in DC and there was no team, I heard him a bunch.

He has very little bias and calls a fun game. I think Morgan drags him down for everybody.

        • Rickey24 says:

I dislike Miller’s call of the game as much as anyone but I do appreciate his effort to pronounce players’ names correctly.

He pronounces Beltran’s name that way because he took the time to ask Carlos how he would like his last name pronounced. Every time Miller is unsure of how a player would like his name pronounced, he asks the player and then pronounces it the way he’s told. What’s wrong with that?

    • Bunty McSecondbaseman says:

My own personal hell would be game 7 of the 2006 playoffs being played over and over and over again, but being called by a team of Joe Morgan and Mark Grace

    • General Millz says:

Thank heavens for the Sunday ticket plan!

    • casey s. says:

well for folks outside of the ny area without a 5 LMB directv dish, it’s a way to see the game in HD. i’ll listen to the radio broadcast via mlb.com.

    • khmustache says:

i wonder if he’ll talk about the big red machine

    • dave27 says:

I look forward to a 3-hour dissertation on Joe Torre and the Yankees. If Joe Morgan actually says “Mets” more than 5x on the broadcast I will fall out of my chair.

  4. Castillo643 says:

The last thing anybody needs is Morgan and Miller commenting on the Mets with side bars from Peter Gammons in between those past-their-prime hacks mispronouncing the players names, repeating themselves, giving opinions based on wrong information, and repeating themselves.

I still cant get over it…..

Morgan: “Well, Castillo comes from the AL so he’s not used to the way the ball carries at Wrigley”

    few moments later…..

Miller “Well, Castillo spent some time with the Marlins before signing with the Twins, so he might have some knowledge.”

good one Jon, kick save and a beauty…..

  5. Flushing_is_Burning says:

Noooooooo!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHYYYY??

  6. metsfan42793 says:

jon miller and joe morgan are the worst announcers ever. gary keith and ron are the best announcers. morgan and miller make gary keith and ron the gods of announcing

  7. Bench5urvivor says:

And now this game won’t be viewable on mlb.tv for those out of marketers without cable… YAY

  8. meshugena313 says:

This really sucks – it was supposed to be a “Diamond dash” game where kids can run on the field after the game. I bought tickets to take my 5 year old daughter and her friend, and now the game won’t start until her bedtime. I’m pissed off, we were looking forward to it.

There are bigger issues than joe morgan…

    • NYMBosco says:

I agree. It sucks for the fans when they shift a game to sunday night! Besides issues with kids and that certainly is a problem, people who have to get up early for work the next morning will be getting home at 2AM! This is crap….

    • Same here. Stupid ESPN.

    • Tetsujin318 says:

My brother and I got tickets to this game for the same reason, we wanted to take our sons to the game.

Now we’ll probably eat the tickets.

    • Matt1969 says:

That’s why I won’t buy tickets for Sunday games. I don’t want to take a chance that it will get bumped to an 8:05 start. This happened to me last year.

  9. guierllNO MOta says:

In the immortal words of Joe Morgan regarding David Wright…”His body left too early but his foot was still on the base when the ball was caught”…..what what what?!?!?!?!?

    • ToastyJoe says:

The worst part about that inane comment was he was trying to make up for the fact that he said “the replay is gonna show Wright left too early,” so instead of just admitting he blew the call, he made up that preposterous theory about his upper body leaving too early. Windbag.

      • dave27 says:

Had it been Beltran however, and had Morgan theorized that Beltran’s mole left the bag early while Beltran himself left the bag after the catch, I think we would’ve had to give it to him.

      • GeorgeThomas says:

and the fact that he said it THREE times! Joe Morgan is such a hack. And before he accuses me of being racist, so is Jon Miller.

  10. zen says:

and then they have to fly to san fran for a game the next night. brilliant move mlb/espn.

    • Danny says:

ESPN wants to cash in on the controversy surrounding the Mets. They pay a lot of money for this right.

Good for them. Bad for us.

      • ToastyJoe says:

This means we’re gonna get to hear Morgan defending his BFF Willie for 3 hours, saying stuff like “if Willie Randolph is on the hot seat for a .500 record, why isn’t Joe Torre?”

      • GravediggerHebner says:

I’m going to listen to that game on the radio.

        • Only1311DaysLeft says:

Wayne Hagen isn’t much better. OK, I take that back. He is better than Morgan, but I can’t listen to him. He is certainly not Tom McCarthy (who was very good IMO).

    • dave27 says:

..And I’m going to said game in San Francisco. Great, I get to travel 4,000 miles to see the Mets sleepwalk through another game.

  11. LongJohnMaine says:

Check this gem out, from espn.com’s chat with Joe Morgan yesterday:

SprungOnSports (Long Island): Do you think Willie Randolph should be fired for the Mets’ recent failures, or are his players or the GM more at fault?

Joe Morgan: If you’re going to fire Willie, you’d have to fire Jim Leyland, John McLaren, Bud Black, and Ned Yost. The list could go on and on. Why is he the one being picked on when so many other teams are playing below their potential. Maybe Willie’s point of playing under more scrutiny is a valid one.

    • turbot72lou says:

I haft to agree with joe. Also you haft ti put giradi in there to. sorry i spelled giraida wrong . i can spell for crap

    • bringtheapple...leavethecowbell says:

He is under more scrutiny … …………t’s called NEW YORK

    • jamie says:

I’ve actually gotten to the point that I enjoy joe and his silliness. it keeps me laughing.

    • LongJohnMaine says:

Joe Morgan and Jon Miller make Buck and McCarver sound like Gary Keith and Ron.

      • Flushing_is_Burning says:

        I won’t go that far

        • LongJohnMaine says:

I would. I hate Tim McCarver, and even though Joe Buck sucks, I can tolerate him sometimes. I absolutely loathe Miller’s showboat act and Morgan’s idiocy.

    • ToastyJoe says:

Maybe the reason those other managers aren’t under the same spotlight is because THEY DIDN’T PRESIDE OVER THE BIGGEST REGULAR SEASON COLLAPSE IN BASEBALL HISTORY!!

    • Reyesing Shea says:

I guess they all had teams collapse like a deck of cards last year, too…

  12. Don't mess with the Johan says:

    Can Morgan still hit?

  13. Only1311DaysLeft says:

I guarantee you Jon Miller wears his yellow shirt with the white collar. That one is a gimme. He wears it every week. If you never noticed, start taking notice. It’s almost as annoying as listening to the two of them.

  14. kandiman says:

Sweet, I have tickets for that game and they moved it. Only problem is that I live in Boston and I now I can’t go to the game because I’d get home at 4 am.

I called ticket office and they said if you mail the tickets back they will exchange them or refund you the money (minus the service charge of course)

  15. Nightlife says:

What game was supposed to air this Sunday instead, and why was it changed? I thought these Sunday night games were set in stone before the season even begins.

  16. FlyingDadBomb34 says:

I know what this means. I’m puttin’ the TV on mute and blasting the iTunes!

  17. ccmetfan says:

damn those espn executives. Now i can’t see the mets in Hd for free on the cw11
