cmon lets start a winning streak!!!!

    Lets Go Mets!!!!

  3. therealsandman says:

LETS GO METS!!!!!! lets take those fish out of first

  4. RespectDaBestRM says:

    Good job by Willie!!!
    Love the lineup again.
I wouldve switched tatis and easley but its alrite

  5. RespectDaBestRM says:

im pumped up for a mets game for the first time since the opening game of the mets braves series last week.

  6. 31yonkers5 says:

Out of all of the clamor this season, the one thing I still don’t understand is the notion that the clubhouse is (not necessarily a cancer), but is in disarray… It’s even been brought up on ESPN telecasts… What’s changed? If anything, i thought the camaraderie amongst our players was the one thing going for us. That Shrek aka Ramon Castro kept things light, as did Reyes, and that Santana and Castillo being reunited would help things. Who’s been brought in thats all of a sudden disrupt things?

I’m assuming players having down years plays a part, but I wouldnt think it would effect the way the guys carry on in the dugout

  7. toomanyuniforms says:

Olsen drives me up the wall. No clue why, but he looks like he needs to be grazed by a line drive. . . . Take the series, guys.

  8. the clap says:

Just wondering what constitutes a come from behind win? You give up a 1st inning run and win 9-3. Is that come from behind? Aren’t the Mets 1-19 so far when trailing after 6?

    • toomanyuniforms says:

I think that’s right. Strictly speaking, of course, if at any point the opponent has a lead and you win, it’s a “come from behind win.” I think that’s what the 7 wins represent. Only 1 of them was a lead regained after the sixth inning.

  9. Kugaa says:

lets go mets they need one more bat a good clean up hitter would do just that it will open up the offense when delgado started struggling that when the team started

  10. Darryl Strawberry says:

I have a weird feeling that we might start to win some games.

  11. zen says:

i really hope heilman comes back to form. i’d love to see this team with a little 2006 magic for a week or two: 2-run first innings. add a run or 2 during the game. heilman 7th, sanchez 8th, wags 9th.

  12. EliPorter says:

id like to see tatis in the 5 hole and easley in the 6 spot.

  13. bluecapsonly says:

Delgado would have let that go through his legs…

  14. crclark79 says:

    Great start for Perez

  15. mrmet1969 says:

Why not give evans a start at 1b, his natural position, to see how he handles it.

  16. EliPorter says:

    big strike zone so far

  17. the Straw says:

Dont want to complicate things for the kid by making him play multiple positions. They need him in the outfield and thats where they want him to focus.

  18. jose--jose-jose-jose says:

Nice little poke there by Reyes.

    Castillo is miserable, I’m sorry.

  19. Nate W. says:

Pedro worked around an error to work a hitless 1st inning.

  20. adam11216 says:

you know, when you look at the last month, reyes has really turned it around at the plate. he didn’t do it by going on a hot streak, which made it hard to notice, but he definitely looks a lot less lost.

  21. Dafatone80 says:

Is it just me, or is Castillo surprisingly bad at getting bunts down for someone who bunts every other at bat?

  22. MainStMets says:

so i guess willie is now responsible for reyes hitting streak, on base streak, and the general improvement over the last 2 weeks

    OH AND SLAPPYS HR

  23. Danny1986 says:

Reyes on 3rd…at least this takes the infuriating bunt away.

    • Danny1986 says:

and he hit it 360 feet further.

      unbelievable.

      • therealsince86 says:

LOL, how about that station to station?

        • Danny1986 says:

grown ups do not use the term LOL.

          12 year old girls do.

        • Danny1986 says:

          and, of course, wacko communists.

          how’s it going itmetsforme?

        • therealsince86 says:

Oh yeah, real grown ups use the term “handjob” You really need to stop. Just admit he is average and I will leave it alone.

        • Danny1986 says:

itsmetsforme is FAR better than average.

the man is a legend. where’s your respect?

        • therealsince86 says:

Sorry, but that was good. LOL!

        • Danny1986 says:

alright. I’ll extend the first olive branch. It’s the mature thing to do.

apologies for calling you a handjob last night. Despite how stubborn and antagonizing you may have been, I should have chose a more diplomatic route. It was more an attempt at humor in a discussion with someone else. But still, bad taste.

Now. If you are telling me that all I had to do was admit that the one and only Luis Castillo is AVERAGE, than I am going to bill you those 3 hours of my life last night. I can’t believe that is all I had to say to get you to shut up.

So here it is…..Luis Castillo is average. IN FACT…he is so average that he should bat where average players bat in the lineup…and that would be 8th.

          awesome.

        • therealsince86 says:

Ok, I will take the olive branch as well. I will say this, there must be a lot of above average players in the MLB if all average guys hit 8th. Nevermind.

        • Danny1986 says:

you know…if he batted right handed more, I might be ok with him staying in the 2 hole. He makes better contact with the ball and seems to be a different hitter. Career wise, his SLUG is 100 points higher from the right side with the same BA and OBP than from the left.

  24. Jefferies 9 says:

    Slappy McDinger

  25. adam11216 says:

    no freaking WAY!

  26. EliPorter says:

what the heck? luis castillo hits a rope!

  27. therealsandman says:

words of a shocked fan who just passed out

  28. crclark79 says:

Castillo!!! Wow…..and i was just about to complain about the missed bunt.

  29. Babe Bruth in the two hole

  30. Steve in DC says:

    Slappy McHomerton

  31. mavicario says:

I’m gonna keep bad mouthing Castillo about having no power….maybe he’ll keep hitting HRs

  32. Prismo says:

    Castillo for clean-up!

    I’m campaigning.

    :p

  33. the Straw says:

Whats going on here? Who are these people dressed in Mets uniforms????

  34. miker94 says:

castillo should never bat lefty again.

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

      I agree!

      • miker94 says:

seriously, even though he is a switch hitter, screw it, put him in the 8 hole and only bat right handed. he’d be SOOOO much more productive for this team.

  35. MainStMets says:

ok everyone, you can jump back on the bandwagon, reyes is hot, mets are winning

  36. Thts one more Homerun than Delgado hitting this game. And thats great

  37. ya gotta STILL believe says:

    willie is still smiling

  38. backinbusiness says:

nice to see the team mob him back in the dugout and willie break his stoic look.

  39. jakeha23 says:

i still can’t take this sny camera shot behind the plate with the umpire in the way…they do it every pitch…three times a game is cool…but three times every at bat is so annoying

    • MainStMets says:

guys in the booth love this shot, so id assume were going to see alot of it

      • backinbusiness says:

it would be absolutely shocking if they dont have more views than the at home viewer…then again, maybe.

    • jose--jose-jose-jose says:

I agree. Its also is impossible to judge how hard they hit the ball with that camera. Cool idea, but it doesn’t work too well.

  40. miker94 says:

i know that beltran is known to be a streaky player, but when is the upside? havn’t seen it in a LONG time!

    • nova86 says:

      umm

      “Carlos Beltran is batting .301 with 4 2B, 3 3B, 2 HR, 15 runs & 16 RBI in 93 at-bats this month”

      • miker94 says:

i don’t even want to get into this lineup. it just seems he is non existent most of the time.

        • miker94 says:

damnit, sorry, i meant to say that i don’t want to get into this argument. i don’t’ know what i’m thinking tonight

  41. Dafatone80 says:

    Easley kinda sucks.

Part of what Omar’s done very well is to build a good bench, then flush out all the bench players and bring new ones in. This year, we went in with a lot of “old” benchers such as anderson, easley, and endy. Not quite working.

Fernando Tatis – This year’s Jose Valentin.

  42. MainStMets says:

put a tent on that circus!

  43. EliPorter says:

    tatis…???

  44. backinbusiness says:

watching tatis play OF and easley play 1B is making me smile–for now–but isnt it obvious that they should swap???

  45. MainStMets says:

    yea OP!!!

  46. EliPorter says:

why does ron have to stand?

  47. Flushing_is_Burning says:

if I remembered correctly on Olsen’s starts… if he suck, he really suck for that start. Lets pound on him boys!!

  48. backinbusiness says:

    Pedro update:
    3IP, 0H, 3K

  49. the Straw says:

who cares… no injuries? no pulls? no strains? no MRIs?

  50. miker94 says:

I live castro and i’m glad he is in the lineup. but is schneider getting the delgado treatment or is there something else wrong? just curious.

  51. MainStMets says:

i was just going to type that a guy like cantu might be a decent bench guy for the mets, if he was made available, versatile INF, good bat, cheap and young

  52. EliPorter says:

ollie is swinging for the fences. id like to add that he leads the team in OBP

  53. Church says:

    I love Olivers swing.

  54. backinbusiness says:

“Oliver Perez takes his HR cut.” –Gary. Perfect.

  55. Flushing_is_Burning says:

damn it OP! stop hanging out with Delgado

  56. the Straw says:

Just think they are going with Castro against the left-handed pitchers. Schneider has been in a little slump.

Id like to see Castro and Schneider get a 50/50 split…but if Castro plays against the southpaws, and schneider against the righties…cant complain.

  57. MainStMets says:

    see ya

  58. EliPorter says:

    there goes the perfect game

  59. MainStMets says:

report just came in that it rolled into citi

  60. MainStMets says:

nice bounce back by OP, very unusual

how great was that time w rusty? whos better than him?

  61. Church says:

Gotta love Keith not paying attention.

  62. MainStMets says:

uh oh olsen is settling down, good night bats

  63. MainStMets says:

on a brighter note, luis hit that ball hard lol

  64. MainStMets says:

citi field robs yet another HR off DW’s bat

    • Dafatone80 says:

Balls have been dying in shea’s outfield for over 40 years. I don’t really buy this whole “Citi Field kills homers” thing.

  65. teufelshuffle86 says:

Looks like the Mets are done scoring runs tonight. Hope one run is enough. Doubt it.

  66. Jefferies 9 says:

That was the first time I was actually happy to see Johnny Franco …
I have to ulcers I can thank him for …

    • Jefferies 9 says:

      two*

    • Dafatone80 says:

You know, you can make an awfully good hall of fame argument for Franco.

      Which is kinda ridiculous.

      • Jefferies 9 says:

You won’t hear me chirp in on that arguement …

I should be a big fan being he is also short, Italian and from Brooklyn but that man made me extremely nervous ..

        • Dafatone80 says:

I’ve always liked him, but I was pretty young during his better Mets days.

          He’s got a great career ERA, something well under 3.00. 400something saves…

          Hard to believe, I know.

  67. The Glider says:

Ollie looks tough tonight. Hopefully, he can keep from imploding and give us a solid 7 innings.

  68. teufelshuffle86 says:

Uggla is not the guy we want up in this situation.

  69. HITorDIE25 says:

    Pedro in 4ip 2ER 4K 0BB so far…

  70. MainStMets says:

uggla has like 1 hit in his lifetime at shea, hes a roided up punch judy hitter who swings like kingman

  71. MainStMets says:

hopefully that laced double is a sign of things to come for CB

  72. MainStMets says:

    super subs staying hot

  73. miker94 says:

go ahead, let me have it

  74. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Get the run in Tatis!

  75. EliPorter says:

good baserunning? im shocked… is this the mets?

  76. MainStMets says:

    secret weapon Tatis

  77. Dafatone80 says:

    Wayne Hagin:

“…who drives in his 4th run of the game, and the mets lead 3-1.”

    Something’s wrong there.

  78. eligoodrich says:

    get him home shrek

  79. Nate W. says:

Pedro got knocked around a little in the 4th, but bounced back with a 1-2-3 5th.

    5 IP, 4 hits, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K

  80. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Gimme a long ball Ramon!!

  81. playmaker3128 says:

Nice inning, manufacturing a run. By the way good to see something finally go beltrans way. Seems everytime he hits the ball hard its right at someone. With his luck amezaga would have caught that ball.

    • HITorDIE25 says:

I hear that…Im not a beltran hater. He has hit a ton of balls on the screws right to people. He’s hitting 40points higher then he was a month ago.

  82. metsfan42793 says:

for anyone questioning why schneider isnt in the lineup for the 2nd straight day here is why. Before Castro got hurt Schneider and Castro would platoon at the catching position for the regular season. when the offence isnt going well you have to play castro instead of schneider because castro has a better bat. even if a righty was pitching i would still put castro in.

  83. EliPorter says:

3 run homer by perez right here… you know thats what hell be swinging for

  84. teufelshuffle86 says:

Not sure why they would walk Evans here. He hasn’t exactly been lights out. Why not try to get the pitcher to lead off? This is a dumb move.

    • Dafatone80 says:

Managing is hard. Not everyone can do it.

Then again, the Marlins are in 1st, so maybe I should lay off Freddi.

  85. eligoodrich says:

I feel good about this game. We can get 2 here. baby steps

  86. eligoodrich says:

    2 in a row*

  87. metties1 says:

In South Beach, watching the Marlins Broadcast. they just said ‘Mets fan actually booing an opponent for once, as opposed to their team or manager’

  88. Jefferies 9 says:

    Santana-esque

  89. 16oz says:

    any word on Alou?

  90. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Perez implosion in 3-2-1…

  91. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Here it comes!

  92. metties1 says:

Johan’s job is to stop the bleeding. Perez’s job is to give back runs

  93. teufelshuffle86 says:

    THROW STRIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  94. metsforever says:

    Ollie meltdown in progress. UGH

  95. HITorDIE25 says:

I guess we were pitching around terbello. Makes sense perez…idiot

  96. metties1 says:

They better not overpay for this dickhole in the offseason

  97. eligoodrich says:

yo relax.when it doesnt happen we dont have the opprotunity to make you look like an idiot because you can just sign off.It doesnt make it cool if you call perez implosion everty pitch

  98. Nate W. says:

come on Ollie, get it together in the stretch

  99. eligoodrich says:

but i do feel its commin

  100. metties1 says:

Well, I feel like he hasn’t given up more than 2 runs in an inning in a while, but this guy is just too inconsistent

  101. metsfan119 says:

Why do Mets pitchers always hit the other team’s crappiest hitters? Does anyone else notice this phenomenon?

  102. eligoodrich says:

yeah your right,he has not blown up too bad recently but it can happen.he just is a little nuts

  103. MetsFan4Decades says:

And I don’t like these camera angles either. Sorry, Keith…..

Why do they think we want to see the pitch from behind home plate?????

    • metsfan119 says:

It’s like hockey with the net cam, someone must think these views add something to the viewing experience, but they just offer huge blindspots to the action

      • MetsFan4Decades says:

Well said. Maybe I’ll ‘email the booth’ and complain – hahahaha.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Also doesn’t help when the pitch is blocked from view by the catcher and umpire.

  104. Nate W. says:

Perez needs to get Jones right here or this inning is going to blow up.

  105. metties1 says:

    wow!

  106. MetsFan4Decades says:

    MAN OH MAN !!!!!

    Trade Who ???????

  107. Dafatone80 says:

    Yes!

Listening on radio, but that sounded nice.

  108. teufelshuffle86 says:

    What a catch baby!!!!!!!

  109. Nate W. says:

So where are those people who dont want Beltran in the current Mets OF? hello?

  110. eligoodrich says:

    wow beltran.theres that gold glove

  111. HOFMets57 says:

    To All the Beltran Haters:

    Eat a d!ck.

    • therealsince86 says:

Can we clean this up a little? Kids post on here.

      • Danny1986 says:

realize that you obviously just responded to one.

      • HOFMets57 says:

You’re right. I apologize. All the recent talk on talk radio/blogs about Beltran being incredibly overrated just got to me. Much like Evan Roberts, I lost it.

It felt good, though I must admit…

    • MainStMets says:

lol how are these possts w human anatomy gettin thru the langauage check

beltran is earning his 119 tonight

  112. dominicanboy08 says:

    what a play!!!

  113. playmaker3128 says:

You can say whatever you want about beltrans lack of hitting this year, but man is he great on defense

  114. therealsince86 says:

Please no one ever mention trading Beltran again.

  115. Dafatone80 says:

People tend to forget about Beltran’s defense, I think. Cause he’s not a Torii Hunter, diving all over the place sort.

    • gomets6091 says:

because he doesn’t have to dive…99% of ML centerfielders don’t get to that one w/o at least diving for it. That was a rocket.

  116. teufelshuffle86 says:

I don’t care what they say about Beltran, hands down one of the best CF’ers in baseball defensively,

  117. HITorDIE25 says:

I think I just heard Beltran call all the haters dickholes…

Great catch…nobody better out in the field

  118. eligoodrich says:

no one forgets his defense.he is a perennial gold glover

  119. eligoodrich says:

reyes, theres your power stroke but lets not get to accustomed to it

  120. Ryan Synagogue says:

How can anyone complain about Beltran? I think ive heard enough of all the “trade Beltran” talk. Who else makes that play for us?

No id be all for batting him 2nd or 3rd, where he’s really come through big for us.

    Aaaand Jome run Jose!!!

  121. dominicanboy08 says:

    jose jose jose jose!!!!

  122. teufelshuffle86 says:

    JOSE!!!!!!

  123. MetsFan4Decades says:

    JOSE, JOSE-JOSE-JOSE …….

  124. metties1 says:

Right Handed. This guy is gettin hot

  125. metsfan119 says:

Keith, at the risk of being labeled unconscious, your catcher cam sucks

  126. adam11216 says:

    hanley who?

  127. WrightsRight says:

    jose!

  128. MainStMets says:

reyes is becoming ricky henderson lol

    another hit for slappy

warm weather means mets heating up

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Let’s keep it in perspective. I wouldn’t call two solid games “heating up” just yet. They put seven of these together in a row and I’ll start to agree with you.

    • Dafatone80 says:

Nah. He seems to have some shred of sanity.

And he’s lacking a giant dogtag with his record on it.

  129. gomets6091 says:

    heeeeee’s baaaack

btw, what’s up with that kinda-gay looking hug that Reyes gives Wright after he homers? I noticed it the other night too….is that really the handshake they came up with?

  130. eligoodrich says:

    i think its hanley ramirez.ha

  131. MetsFan4Decades says:

Glad to hear all the Beltran supporters on here. Yeah, his offense is spotty at times but how many games has he saved with that ‘golden’ glove ????

    • gipper82475 says:

I think people just have to realize he’s more of a support player than the main guy. Great glove, solid, if streaky bat.

      • gomets6091 says:

He’s an extremely good all-around player, but he’s not a great hitter. Nothing wrong with that. I’d still take him over just about every other centerfielder out there when you take his full game into consideration. He’s not hitting many homers, but he walks a lot, hits a bunch of doubles, and is a good baserunner, in addition to being a fantastic fielder.

  132. Michael Scott says:

    Maybe Reyes should hit cleanup?

  133. Gina says:

    Jose must love this ballpark.

  134. dr jones says:

Oliver Perez is the most obvious case of ADD.. This kid needs some Ritilin or something. He has to of been checked out for this right?

La Clippers center Chris Kaman uses a method called Biofeedback which is a non medicated form of ADD therapy. Which I also use. If this kid could keep his focus, he would be untouchable.

    • Gina says:

I don’t think players are allowed to take that or adderral anymore. I vaguely remember watching a documentary about Adam Laroche, before he got traded to the Pirates on FSN and they said he was on it for a while and it made a huge difference but then he wasn’t allowed to take it anymore.

  135. dominicanboy08 says:

castillo should only bat right handed

  136. Nate W. says:

Pedro is done in St. Lucie.

6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 K. He is taking the L as David Price is throwing a perfecto but for 2 hits by Robinson Cancel who is on rehab from AAA.

  137. gipper82475 says:

Whatever happened to upperdeckdewller and the others who were kvetching about the lack of seatiing at Citi Field?

Here’s a beautiful night in late May, against the first place team in the division, a very important game for the Mets, and Shea isn’t even half full. The Loge and Mezz are half empty, nevermind the UD. There is zero energy in the park.

Nights like these are exactly why the more cozy, intimate feel at Citi will be a huge improvement.

  138. teufelshuffle86 says:

Is Wright still having trouble catching up to this guy’s mid-80’s fastball? Come on.

  139. metsfan119 says:

I’m telling you, Delgado’s absense from the lineup is addition by subtraction, send the guy to Puerto Rico to “rehab” for awhile

  140. EliPorter says:

beltran hit a rope- i dont mind that he got doubled up bc that could have easily been a single. but for gods sake carlos, please hustle to first

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

He does dog it to first sometimes, however I’d rather he pull up than over extend and pull something.

      • gomets6091 says:

I semi-sorta agree with you. I hate players dogging, but I never used to be more afraid than when Piazza would hit a routine grounder, because he ALWAYS hustled his butt down to first and lunged for the bag, I winced every time, sure he’d tear his hamstring or something.

  141. adam11216 says:

can hagen please get off bobby cox’s jockstrap? does he really think anyone wants to hear about how he did everything right, and how hard it is to sweep a 4 game series?

    • Dafatone80 says:

I get the feeling that Hagin hates the Mets, and is doing a fairly good job of hiding it.

He’s always a bit too excited when other teams do well.

      • adam11216 says:

yeah, he doesn’t seem to fit here, for some reason. a little too vanilla…

  142. HITorDIE25 says:

weird, beltran hits it on the screws right to someone…

  143. metties1 says:

Man. watching the Marlins broadcast is brutal. The marlins promotions are pretty brutal as well

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

So glad I get the SNY broadcast and get Gary, Keith and Ron. Love these guys in the booth…..

  144. ya see guys when you hit a homer with a guy on base its sweeeeeeeeeeet wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  145. The Glider says:

So, can I see a show of hands of the nimrods who wanted Willie to sit Jose (and play who exactly at shortstop instead) on Monday and Tuesday and/or tonight?

    • gipper82475 says:

I do remember there were two guys who were calling for it, then again, there have been thousands calling for Willie to sit/platoon Delgado for months…

  146. EliPorter says:

i wonder what goes through castro and schneiders heads when pererz is pitching. castro looks so frustrated right now

  147. HITorDIE25 says:

    pedro- 6ip 2ER 6K 0BB

Final line…I dont know how many pitches

  148. i’m killin it in the 2 hole i hope Bill R. leaves me there all year

  149. Michael Scott says:

sidenote: did Francessa ever explain his version of the conversation he had with Keith about the Mets Mgr. job? He announced Keith would want it. Keith said publcily he didn’t. Was there any tpe of retraction/explanation from MIke?

    • backinbusiness says:

it was awesome. he said he jokingly asked keith “hey how about you!” and keith “nodded.”

  150. Dafatone80 says:

Howie Rose just called Beltran a “switch-hitting Kevin McReynolds.”

Maybe my impression of McReynolds is worse than he deserved, but that actually made me shudder.

    • The Glider says:

Howie was definitely not complimenting Beltran. Ouch!

    • Danny1986 says:

you know what is incredible? Look at McReynold’s HR/RBI/BA in 1987. Not bad, right?

Now go look at his OBP.

and for howie to compare McReynolds to Beltran is mixing apples and oranges.

  151. metties1 says:

Utley hit another homer. 17 for the year or roughly 2/5 of the entire mets team

    • gomets6091 says:

I like Utley a lot, even though he’s a Phillie, but put the Mets in CBP and the Phillies in Shea, and Utley wouldn’t have 17, and the Mets would have a lot more than they have. For example, Beltrans double before would have been a homer at CBP. Now, Utley would still almost definitely lead the Mets this year, he’d be in double digits, but he wouldn’t have 17.

      • Gina says:

He might not even be in double digits.

105 ab on the road- 5 hr
102 ab at home- 11 hr

  152. EliPorter says:

cant wait to see ollie gone next year

  153. teufelshuffle86 says:

    THROW STRIKES OLLIE!!!!!!!!!!

  154. metsfan119 says:

come on ollie, just one more out

  155. WrightsRight says:

Gary Cohen: “all of the sudden things starting to unravel for Oliver Perez”

And how many times have we heard that before….?

  156. EliPorter says:

some of the pitches ollie is throwing are strikes, but hes missing the target so severely that the umpire is calling them balls

  157. metsfan119 says:

    oooooo boy

  158. EliPorter says:

    i hate oliver perez

  159. mavicario says:

well it’s the 6th inning….so this game is done….mets suck

  160. Jefferies 9 says:

Who didn’t see that coming ??

  161. iluvbuckner says:

    Shoulda gotten a live chicken.

  162. teufelshuffle86 says:

    JESUS!

  163. WrightsRight says:

    *sigh*

Is Cody Ross the second-coming of Gorman Thomas? HR or K. HR or K. HR or K.

Of course Einstein falls into the trap twice tonight.

    • WrightsRight says:

rob deer, gorman thomas, dave kingman, steve balboni, cody ross…same person, different decade…

  164. gomets6091 says:

    ugh

  165. MainStMets says:

our SPs must give up more HRs than any other staff in baseball, so frustrating

  166. metsforever says:

Honestly, who here didn’t see that coming? He can never be allowed to go past 5.

  167. metsfan119 says:

it’s ok, the Marlins are only 22-1 with a lead in the sixth inning

  168. metties1 says:

its time for the mets second win after trailing in the 6th

    • slanginsanjuan says:

if we’re going to do anything this year we need to have come back wins. let’s see. go mets.

  169. johnolerud says:

    typical

  170. MainStMets says:

good thing the mets bats have continued to tack on runs tonight otherwise wed all be miserable right now

  171. MetsFan4Decades says:

……And I really wanted to see the ‘good’ Ollie tonight.

7 Ks, what? 4 hits?? But 5 runs. Just can’t believe it.

  172. Danny1986 says:

you know…i still have a good feeling about the Mets still winning this game. can’t put a finger on it, i just feel this offense is going to come through. Haven’t felt that way in a very long time.

    • metsfan119 says:

      me too

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

and you are basing this on what?

      • Danny1986 says:

note where i say “can’t put a finger on it”.

i don’t know. just seems like this offense right now won’t fold the tents and go home. just seems different.

    • ccmetfan says:

i agree with you, i like tatis and castro in the offense and they all seem a bit better without delgado. I know it’s early but it’s wishful thinking

  173. metsfan119 says:

god help me, I actually have a good feeling about this game

  174. drodro22 says:

THIS is on Willie Randolf……Ollie was falling apart and got LUCKY in the 5th, saved by Beltran……O.P. should NOT have been pitching this inning, WHO CARES WHAT HIS PITCH COUNT IS…….REMEMBER THIS MOMENT, THIS IS WHY WILLIE NEEDS TO GO…..

    • Gina says:

I could have sworn a month ago everyone in here was complaining about him taking pitchers out to soon just because they got into a little bit of trouble.

  175. teufelshuffle86 says:

Get ready for those late game Met heroics!!

  176. metsforever says:

That’s game too. It’s the 6th inning. 12 in a row go down now.

  177. Gina says:

Who the hell is C. Ross and why won’t he stop hitting home runs?

  178. miker94 says:

and that my friends, is exactly why willie should be fired! there isn’t a person on this planet who didn’t KNOW for a fact that perez should have been yanked 2 batters ago. but not willie! genius!

    • therealsince86 says:

Except for the other armchair QB’s that say something every time he pulls a pitcher out before they blowup.

      • miker94 says:

better to pull a guy too early than too late.

        • therealsince86 says:

Not when you have to do it all the time and your bullpen sucks and gets over used. Ollie has to be able to get out of those situations.

  179. metties1 says:

still 4 AB’s left. If this team is gonna turn things around, it needs to start tonight!

  180. therealsince86 says:

Tell me Perez’s line perfectly describes him.
    6 innings, 4 hits, 7 K’s, ……. 5 runs.

  181. The Glider says:

The walks and lack of command (i.e. falling behind hitters) is what just kills OP. It’s very frustrating to watch him go “from sweet to sour” so quickly.

    Ugh.

    • WrightsRight says:

he’s just not that good. he’s not a good pitcher. flashes of brilliance but consistency makes the pitcher and he has Zero of that. And he’s not smart. No pitching IQ whatsoever.

      • Mex_17 says:

Boras will produce a glossy folder on OP that will claim he’s the second coming of Sandy Koufax.

  182. WrightsRight says:

enigma wrapped inside of a riddle….

  183. HITorDIE25 says:

guy doesnt desearve 5 million a year… 1 year contract 1.5 million sounds good. He isnt a long term answer at all. Get his ass out of there. Zero focus for him…Tony armas is sitting in AAA with a 2.50 era and opponets are hitting .220 against him…

  184. EliPorter says:

feels like the game is over

  185. drodro22 says:

I want it to be known that THIS is why Randolf sucks, anyone with half a baseball sense would have pulled O.P……….

  186. The Glider says:

Scott Boras’s head is going to explode.

  187. LIMetfan74 says:

I am sick of Perez! There is now way you give him any money or sign him next year!

  188. metsfan119 says:

I’m telling you, the Mets are winning this game

  189. Flushing_is_Burning says:

whats with the HR from mets starters? who do they think they are? aaron heilman?

  190. drodro22 says:

And it took a HUGE monumental media circus meeting to clue Willie in that Delgado needed to sit and that Castro should play against lefties……No one can ever say that he is a good manager, he is CLUELESS….

    • Mex_17 says:

Yeah, I guarantee that they told Willie to bench Delgado at that meeting with the Wilpons.

      • therealsince86 says:

I mean is it possible that Willie wanted to bench him but did not feel comfortable doing it until the meeting?

        • Mex_17 says:

It sounded to me like the tone of the meeting (aside from Willie apologizing again) was to force Willie to tell them what he was going to do differently to get the team to play better.

Without the meeting, I’m sure Randolph would have just continued to do what he’s done for the past year…nothing.

When they pressed him to do something or be fired, he probably was forced to bench Delgado.

  191. MainStMets says:

    SUPER SUBS!!!!

  192. The Glider says:

That’s it baby! Show some heart.

  193. playmaker3128 says:

Ok leadoff double. We need a come from behind win. Lets go tatis

  194. Mex_17 says:

Easley! Here comes the Delgadoless comeback!

  195. gomets6091 says:

alright Damion….anyone think our ‘other’ 1st basemen would have led off this inning with a double?

  196. teufelshuffle86 says:

2007 Easley would have hit that ball out of the park. :D

  197. HITorDIE25 says:

I think this is a different team then the last couple months…We are going to win this one.

  198. crclark79 says:

It was painfully obvious in the 5th that Perez had gone “wild”. I probably wouldnt have been as patient with him in the 6th……not that you want to dip in the the BP that early, but 3run HRs is what happens when he loses his control. How many times has Castro tried to calm Ollie down this game. Guy is a head case.

  199. JDuelz (Athens, GA) says:

So, people were arguing before how Willie doesn’t leave his pitchers in long enough, now it’s not taking him out soon enough… Funny.

    • Nate W. says:

      not pitchers, Perez

    • drodro22 says:

Go root for the Bravos…..It’s not about PRINCIPLE, it’s about watching the game and seeing clearly that Ollie was losing it……There is no defending keeping him in there…..

      • slanginsanjuan says:

…..taking Perex out early is like benching delgado…..sends a message to keep your head in the game or else. i would have liked to see willie do it. you could see the marlins mgr. wanted to win last night when he took his starter out early and went to his pen. it’s a good point.

      • JDuelz (Athens, GA) says:

All I’m doing is basically stating what I observe and yet you tell me to go root for the Braves… riiiiiiiiight, buddy.

P.S. I wish I could watch the game.

  200. Nate W. says:

might as well let Perez pitch the 7th. Its just as likely to be a 1-2-3 frame as any other Perez inning.

  201. teufelshuffle86 says:

Come on Evans. Earn your keep son!

  202. ccmetfan says:

Somebody just hit Ross to bring him down to earth. All of hits are hr!!Just lucky

    • WrightsRight says:

Rob Deer, etc… his career numbers will be:

      .225

      386 HRs (300 vs. Mets)

      800 rbis

  203. metsfan119 says:

WOW, that was a pathetic display

  204. Mex_17 says:

Ugh, ok, Evans looks a little overmatched again. Maybe time to end that experiment.

That’s ok, we still get the meat of the lineup again.

  205. gomets6091 says:

Evans just looks overmatched. I guess you can’t just plug in any minor leaguer and expect them to outhit Delgado…

  206. WrightsRight says:

Mets will win this 6-5….or lose 13-4.

  207. teufelshuffle86 says:

I don’t know what made everyone think this team would find a way to win. They haven’t done it all season. Good teams come right back, like the Marlins just did.

    • metsfan119 says:

Mets are due for a comeback, Marlins are due to blow a late lead, Delgado is sitting, the stars just seem aligned

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

I should have said find a way to comeback quickly. I realize the game is not over.

    • metsforever says:

Unfortunately, you are right. Anyone who has watched the team this year knows that they don’t have comebacks in them. They totally lay down once they get hit. That’s really the difference between this team and the pre June 07 teams.

      • teufelshuffle86 says:

They may end up winning this game but there is certainly nothing about this team that “gives me a good feeling” that they’ll comeback and win. Haven’t seen it yet this season so I’m not expecting to see it any time soon.

    • skylog says:

i am with you. what are they 1-18 trailing after 6? until they win another, even with things looking “better” the past game and a half, it is truly hard to believe they can do it. i will hope, let’s see if they can finally get it done.

      they must hold.

  208. skylog says:

bah. get that man in. can’t waste a lead off double like that. especially right after giving up the lead.

  209. Darryl Strawberry says:

Another loss on Willie Randolph. Perez had no business back out there in the sixth after his terrible fifth inning. How many times does Willie have to see the writing on the wall. Joe Smith should’ve been pitching the 6th. I just can’t believe how many different yet the same ways this team finds to lose.

  210. LIMetfan74 says:

Can we all get off the Nick Evans band wagon now there is a reason the kid was in AA.

  211. Dafatone80 says:

Howie Rose was yelling his head off to pinch hit Endy there.

    Endy can’t hit, though.

Now you can double switch and put in Endy in the 9th spot. Except Endy can’t hit, so that doesn’t help much.

  212. drodro22 says:

I’m so angry right now, this is a must win game, and Willie fkucks it up again………GET HIM OUT

  213. metsfan119 says:

I’d love to see Ramirez play in an actual market and see how he’d do

    • metsforever says:

Probably pretty well. The guy is good. Would love to have his energy on the Mets

      • metsfan119 says:

I think if Reyes played in Miami without a magnified glass on his every move he’d be a lot closer to the player Ramirez is

  214. donwkim79 says:

    Hey guys I’m new to Metsblog… I’m a big Mets Fan… Let’s support the Mets…. Lets go Mets….

  215. metsforever says:

Another reason that Omar isn’t long for the team either. The treatment of Ryan Church is an outrage. Concussions are serious business and he is on his second this year. They can mess you up for life if you don’t take the time you need. He should be on the DL for at least a month. And using him as a PH is ridiculous. We have already lost a week of DL time for a few useless pinch hitting appearences. This may be an indictment of the farm system more than anyhing else. Probably noone to bring up

    • therealsince86 says:

Ok so you said that he should be on the DL for a month but then complain about lost time on a 15 day dL.

      • the Straw says:

        you got a point there.

      • metsforever says:

He should have been on a week ago. I am complaining that they should have put him on after the injury. They could have had a player on the team who could contribute. Church can’t even remember when he is in the game. They should think about the player’s well being a little bit. Look what happens to football players with concussions. These guys get messed up forever.

        • therealsince86 says:

Who? Might as well tried to wait him out with the fact that you already brought up 3 guys in the last week. He did not show the imediate signs. Instead of getting better each day, he got worse.

        • metsforever says:

Honestly, it doesn’t matter who. Sometimes you have to put the interests of the person ahead of the team. Concussions are Brain injuries. Hamstings get you two weeks off and don’t ruin your life. Concussions can screw you up for a long time.

    • Mex_17 says:

I agree 100%. Pinch hitting a guy who can’t even remember it is outrageous. I don’t care what the excuse is. That concussion looked horrific, let him get well or he could be permanently messed up.

  216. skylog says:

another case of the opposition hitting the home run with men on, while it seems about 90 percent of the mets few home runs have been solo. i don’t have the numbers, but it seems as if that has been the case.

    • skylog says:

of course, it also seems the mets have given up so many more home runs in general, both solo and with men on.

  217. crclark79 says:

Schoenweis has been filthy this year

  218. donwkim79 says:

The Mets Need this game really bad… It will be tough since the Marlins bullpen is so tough… This is a Must Win game for the Mets team…

  219. adam11216 says:

i guess the silver lining on perez is that we’re not going to sign him to a 6-year deal now.

  220. Dafatone80 says:

I wish we kept Olmedo Saenz.

  221. WrightsRight says:

one pitch….one pitch….story of season. maybe he had to go to the bathroom or something.

  222. the Straw says:

you hear that? if thats the case then they should jsut DL CHURCH.

    • therealsince86 says:

At this point I think you are right, DL him and bring up Val or Vaentin.

  223. metsfan119 says:

someone get this pitcher giuseppe franco’s cell number quick

  224. skylog says:

can they try to take, well, maybe one pitch? the last four guys have gone in 6 total.3 from evans.

    • Nate W. says:

8 pitch inning by Waechter, 9 pitch inning by Pinto. The offense has clocked out for the night. They’re content with 4 runs tonight, check back tomorrow…

  225. teufelshuffle86 says:

If the Mets end up losing this game, yesterday’s win means absolutely nothing and again we start all over. Typical 1-up, 2-down season. Other than the Yankees series this team will not have won 2 in a row since April 27, an entire month ago.

  226. Mex_17 says:

Why does Reyes have the HR swing there? Can’t he just try to get on base??? Jesus.

  227. Jefferies 9 says:

    ZZZZZZZZZZ ….

  228. ToastyJoe says:

Is there any chance that the Mets will have two more baserunners the rest of this game? One more?

  229. WrightsRight says:

    batzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  230. slanginsanjuan says:

all of these marlin relief pitchers seem to have sub 2 era’s.

  231. EliPorter says:

    game… over

  232. ToastyJoe says:

By the way, i LOVE how SNY runs that “ARE YOU SUUUUURE YOU’RE NOT A SHORTSTOP” Jeter ad right after the latest 1-2-3, 10 pitch inning, just to compound my misery. Well played.

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

And I noticed that SNY HD plays different commercials than regular SNY. Have two broadcasts going and just one is on HD station. I’m hearing two different commercials each time…..

  233. Darryl Strawberry says:

We won’t have a base runner for the rest of this game.

  234. Mex_17 says:

I still think we have a shot. I have a feeling Wright is going to come through tonight, he’s overdue.

  235. teufelshuffle86 says:

And looks like Willie will wave the white flag and bring in Heilman. Aren’t they trying to “shop him around”? If so why would you bring him into a one-run game in the 8th inning if you are trying to get rid of him?

  236. metsfanmurph says:

It’s not only that we don’t score once we fall behind it is that we don’t even get a hit once we fall behind.

  237. donwkim79 says:

Marlins have a nasty bullpen… Most games are won in the 6 7 8th innings and Marlins have I believe the nastiest bullpen in the NL… They should be around for the long run…. Mets need a signature moment walk off type win to really get their confidence up…. LETS GO METS>>>>>>>

  238. stickguy says:

    weak 7th.

But at least Heilmann is coming in to keep it colose (I think that was him they showed, but the picture is kind of small on mlb.tv)

  239. teufelshuffle86 says:

Double off the wall in 3….2…..1…..

  240. the Straw says:

Heilman?!?!? Heilman in a one run game? Well this games over.

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

Gary ‘It’s interesting that Willie chose to go with Heilman for this inning’…..

      • zen says:

anybody who doesn’t think it’s essential for heilman to return as the 8th inning guy has a questionable understanding of the mets.

at least the 7th inning though i’m more confident in heilman going forward than sanchez who’s fastball hasn’t returned yet.

    • metsforever says:

Already over anyway. Down after six = throw in the towel

  241. skylog says:

i hate this. i’ll watch. i’ll get mad. i’ll accept. repeat. dying a little bit more each day.

  242. metsfanmurph says:

I am going to just watch the Real World

  243. drodro22 says:

FKCING FIRE WILLIE…..Today was just one of MANY games his complete IDIOCY has lost this team games…No wonder no one likes playing for him….he is nearly retarded level of intelligence…..and his baseball intelligence is even worse….

    • The Glider says:

Please give us your insightful baseball analysis of what exactly Willie did to lose this game?

      • drodro22 says:

Anybody with half a brain could see O.P. was DONE in the 5th…..He was LUCKY to get out of the 5th…..Willie leaves him in not jsut for the 6th, but lets him keep going after a walk and a hard hit ball…..Joe Smith should have been in……..Right on Right…..The man has no clue how to manage….It’s really pretty clear cut right there…..Not to mention on Friday when after 102 pitches he let Ollie go out there and walk two guys, which led to that loss…..Do you WATCH these games?

        • The Glider says:

You are clueless. So, you KNEW what was going to happen in the 6th inning. Oh, Metrodamus, please tell us what will happen this weekend?

        • miker94 says:

drodro22, don’t worry about it, this guy glider doesn’t have a clue! anyone who knows anything at all about baseball knows that willie should have pulled ollie much earlier. maybe not at the beginning of the 6th, but surely after his 2 walks when it was obvious that he had lost it. but again, this guy doesn’t get it.

    • Prismo says:

I want Willie fired too…but what did he do wrong in this game?

  244. playmaker3128 says:

Heilman looks like he’s just throwing out there, instead of trying to be to fine with his pitches. Which is where i believe he gets into trouble. He has to trust his stuff.

  245. stickguy says:

just for the record, if the Mets don’t pull out of the tailspin and make the playoffs, I am rooting for the Marlins to take the division, so at least the Braves and PHils don’t either!

Wow, Heilmann is throwing strikes tonight.

  246. Nate W. says:

twilight zone inning from Heilman. strangely enjoyable not to feel the urge to puke while he pitches in a close game…

  247. crclark79 says:

    HEILMAN!!!!!!

  248. WrightsRight says:

    heilman!

  249. metsfan119 says:

    the comeback is coming

  250. adam11216 says:

    the beard must stay.

  251. teufelshuffle86 says:

How was that not a swing?

  252. MetsFan4Decades says:

    What a ripoff !!!

HAHAHA – got him anyway. Strikes out the side. WOW !!

  253. Dafatone80 says:

    I’ll take it.

  254. donwkim79 says:

Heilman has nasty stuff… the Mets need Heilman to pitch well for the Mets to do well this year….

  255. JDuelz (Athens, GA) says:

    Unbelievable.

  256. the Straw says:

    Gotta be the beard….

    OK Wright, Beltran, Easley

Its time for our Leaders to step up and get it done.

    RIGHT NOW!

  257. metsfanmurph says:

Maybe this will be the bizzaro Mets. Heilman strikes out the side and the Mets come back and win.

  258. Dafatone80 says:

As to that check swing, it’s understandable. It’s been a while since C.B. Bucknor got a call right.

  259. Ryan Synagogue says:

CMon Mets time for the come back. I know you have it in you. You have to, Delgado is riding the pine.

btw, Home Run Heilman is dead.

    Long live Holy **** Heilman

  260. oklametsfan says:

    David!!!!

  261. metsforever says:

How about that Rockie pitching this week? Have the Phils hit 60 yet? They are damn close.

  262. teufelshuffle86 says:

Good start. Now get him the F in!

  263. Flushing_is_Burning says:

Heilman sucks when we have a lead, but lights out when we are down. go figure!

  264. The Glider says:

Hey drodro, what’s going to happen next?

    • drodro22 says:

What will happen next is you will be convinced that ball games are won because of “fire” and “soul”

  265. Mex_17 says:

    Wright! Here we go…

  266. skylog says:

please, play smart, execute, get it done.

  267. metsfan119 says:

Easley home run, calling it right now

  268. Mex_17 says:

C’mon, steal second! Put some pressure on them.

    Jesus Willie, have some guts.

    • The Glider says:

What was the count on Beltran when he lined out? And if Wright got thrown out, you’d be yelling at Willie for sending him.

  269. teufelshuffle86 says:

Watch the curve ball in the dirt Carlos!!!!!

  270. metsfan119 says:

what is with Beltran’s freaking liners to the D?

  271. Don Hahn says:

have you seen more shots by a player that are caught

  272. MetsFan4Decades says:

It’s like the opposing gloves are magnets for anything Beltran tries to hit….

  273. oklametsfan says:

2nd time he’s drilled it to 3rd tonight. hard to fault him there.

    i’m sure plenty will though.

  274. Ryan Synagogue says:

Damnit Cantu stop standing in the way of Beltrans line drives

  275. EliPorter says:

were just not a lucky team… what can you do?

  276. WrightsRight says:

unreal how that guy hits line drives right. at. the. other. team.

    • WrightsRight says:

not implying it’s his fault…just uncanny how he can’t get a break with those hard-hit balls…

    • Nate W. says:

he needs to hit them higher. of course sending them to the gaps would be ideal…

  277. Dafatone80 says:

Beltran’s hitting everything hard. At people.

That’ll change. Not sure if he’ll stop hitting everything hard or if he’ll start hitting it where they ain’t, but that’ll change.

  278. teufelshuffle86 says:

Another laser beam by Beltran right at somebody. Those will fall eventually, but right now it’s frustrating.

  279. oklametsfan says:

ok, i have to ask. i’m not suggesting this BUT…..any chance willie PHs Delgado here to go lefty righty.

  280. teufelshuffle86 says:

I think Wright needs to steal a base here. Gotta get something going.

    • skylog says:

agreed. can’t sit back. they need to make change. you can’t keep doing the same thing over and over and expect the results to change. that’s insane.

  281. donwkim79 says:

Lets Go Mets… Lets Go Mets.. Mets Magic Baby~

  282. rM teM says:

If we only knew what will happen now!

  283. wa2k99 says:

I feel like I’m blindly otimistic. I want to believe they’ll win, but I don’t think it’s happening. If they do win, it might really be the launching pad.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

It wouldn’t be the entire season up to this point that is giving you those optimistic thoughts would it?

  284. Don Hahn says:

This would be a great time for a hit and run, strickly a fastball pitcher,

  285. HITorDIE25 says:

Thank you Keith for making the point that Beltran has had the worst luck. Get off his back…he’s been hitting the ball hard all year.

  286. The Glider says:

    Easley’s a great fastball hitter.

  287. playmaker3128 says:

I was thinking delgado as well. However with the short bench that might be a problem.

Cmon tatis! we need you. Mr clutch!

  288. metsfan119 says:

oh well, I blew that prediction

  289. wa2k99 says:

Beltran has ha dhorrible luck. He hits homers in Fla and the ump overrules it. These liners right to the D.

  290. metsfanmurph says:

Who in their right mind would trade a power arm like Lidstrom’s?

    • Dafatone80 says:

Lindstrom was pretty bad in AA, and 28 or 29 years old. We got two much younger pitchers.

I’m not saying it was a good trade, but when we made it, I was upset about losing Owens and didn’t care about Lindstrom.

    • therealsince86 says:

      Kansas City?

  291. Don Hahn says:

c’mon Tatis, lets have some magic

  292. jakeha23 says:

    LET’S GO TATIS COME ON

  293. metsfan119 says:

    come on!!!!! law of averages!!!!

  294. jakeha23 says:

    wow…that was fast

  295. teufelshuffle86 says:

As bad as Delgawful has been, you have to pinch hit him for Evans I think, if it comes to that.

    • rM teM says:

no. He looks comfortable where he is.

    • The Glider says:

Delgado can’t get around on Lindstrom’s fastball.

      • teufelshuffle86 says:

Unfortunately Evans can’t either I don’t think. As widely unpopular a decision it might be I think you have to play the odds and pinch hit Delgado.

  296. The Glider says:

Trading Lindstrom and Owens was a HORRIBLE deal by Omar.

    • adam11216 says:

i think keith wants to make out with lindstrom.

    • HOFMets57 says:

Who were they traded for again?

      • adam11216 says:

        j. vargas and someone else

      • therealsince86 says:

Two really young LHSP. Vargas and Bostick.

      • Dafatone80 says:

        Jason Vargas and Adam Bostick.

Vargas has been out with Tommy John since we got him, more or less. Bostick had a mediocre year in AAA, and is having a bad one this year.

Again, Lindstrom was bad in the Mets’ system. Not sure why that was, but he wasn’t very good. I even saw him at Binghamton, and he was about as unimpressive as a guy who can hit triple digits could be.

    • mets19 says:

They werent latino, he HAD to do it.

  297. The Glider says:

    Wow. A nasty curve too!!!!!

  298. metsfanmurph says:

WOW that was a strike and that was filthy

  299. Nate W. says:

Delgado has a helmet on and bat in hand… uh oh

  300. wa2k99 says:

Chances are we’ve traded Kensing too…

  301. The Glider says:

Shorten up on the swing Tati. Just a single.

  302. metsfanmurph says:

Imagine if we had this guy and Heath Bell??

  303. metsfan119 says:

    damn you mets….

  304. WrightsRight says:

thank GOODNESS we got rid of Lindstrom…

  305. Nate W. says:

Tatis was a complete overmatch there. Not sure who you PH with as the bench is terrible… but man that was unfair to Tatis.

  306. rM teM says:

    Keith sounds like he’s managing.

  307. wa2k99 says:

    It never changes

  308. Fiya Minaya says:

Nasty stuff by Lindstrom. Glad we got Jason Vargas.,

  309. metsforever says:

At least somebody got on base. That’s way better than the usual give up we see with this team.

Lidstrom is scary. Where did the Marlins get him from? Oh yeah…

  310. metsfanmurph says:

    Omar the talent evaluator

  311. LIMetfan74 says:

    GAME OVER!

  312. mets19 says:

Tonights the night we are going to get our come from behind win, and SNY will have another Mets Moment.

  313. Don Hahn says:

I have a ton of respect for Minaya, but how did you let this guy go? especially Minaya who loves power arms

  314. wa2k99 says:

Can the National and Marlins show ANY effort when they play other NL East teams? It’s like if they beat the Mets they don’t care about any other games.

    • metsforever says:

The Marlins are pretty good against everybody. They are in first place.

It just seems like they beat the Mets all the time, mostly because they do.

    • metsfan119 says:

does it really take much “effort” to beat the Mets these days?

  315. Darryl Strawberry says:

No heart, no fire, nothing clutch, no comebacks, no dramatics. Just predictable, flat defeats night after night with this team.

    • Mex_17 says:

I really think the team has played better tonight. They are battling.

OP killed them with that 3 run HR.

      • metsforever says:

He shouldn’t have been in there. Beltran’s catch should have been the clue that Ollie’s luck had run out.

  316. WrightsRight says:

just walk or hit this guy…

    • The Glider says:

I think he should be beaned. (Well, not “beaned” . . . how about square in the back?)

  317. The Glider says:

How could Omar trade Linstrom and Owens for Vargas and Bostick???? That was horrible.

    What were you thinking Omar???

  318. Nate W. says:

Delgado, Bostick and Jason Vargas for Lindstrom, Owens and Jacobs anyone?

    :-\

    • metsfanmurph says:

I don’t knock Omar for the Delgado trade because I don’t know if we win the division without Delgado.

      • metsfanmurph says:

I forgot to add in 06

      • Mex_17 says:

I do knock Omar for it, because we have an ancient expensive useless malcontent, and the Marlins have a young cheap decent firstbaseman.

      • Nate W. says:

yup, it was a great trade when it got us to the 2006 world series!! I remember those days fondly.

    • metsforever says:

In the words of my 6 year ole, NO GIVEBACKS

    • Don Hahn says:

well it was Delgado for Jacobs, and I would do that again, Delgado was great in 2006, I guess Francesa can stop that Heilman for Shelly Duncan talk, that would be crazy

  319. metsfan42793 says:

the mets are simply cursed. beltran hits the ball so hard and yet it ends up right to the fielder.

  320. teufelshuffle86 says:

Okay, this must be the inning where Heilman gives up back-to-back doubles.

  321. metsfanmurph says:

    Wagner
    Bell
    Lidstrom
    Feliciano
    Heilman
    Sanchez
    Joe Smith

This could have been our bullpen

  322. donwkim79 says:

GOT TO hold the FISH this inning… I have a feeling our BIG PAPI is gonna come through in the 9th… LETS GO METS>>>>

  323. the Straw says:

Get Ready to see Endy, Delgado, and Schneider due up in the bottom of the inning.

  324. skylog says:

another man stranded in scoring position. i am the insane one, doing the same thing and hoping for different results. will they continue the trend of giving up some more in the ninth to make it even less likely and less fun?

  325. metsfan42793 says:

if the mets lose one positive thing that can come out of this is heilman. atleast he is keeping the mets in the game.

    • skylog says:

agreed, but it just sucks to come in a game when they don’t come back. if they are never going to score to come back, what is the point? it is sad it has come to this from the combacks of 06. those were the days

  326. metsfan119 says:

The Mets are cursed, the Reyes/Wright GQ cover spread curse

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Don’t for get the SI where they were joined by Omar.

      • metsfan119 says:

Nothing showcased the excesses of the ‘06 Mets than that GQ spread. Quite possibly the gayest undertaking by an athlete since Namath and his pantyhose commercial

  327. LIMetfan74 says:

Who is this new guy #48??

  328. wa2k99 says:

If we keep it within one, let Castro hit. If he gets on PR Endy. The only way I let Evans hit is if he’s sac bunting. Then use Delgado for the pitcher.

  329. playmaker3128 says:

How awesome would it be to get a walk off win in the bottom of the 9th. Would give us some momentum for sure. Also would cap off a really nice showing from the bullpen.

  330. metsfan42793 says:

the thing that pisses me off about the mets is that u may think after that great play by reyes and great pitching by heilman that they may have momentum but right now all i can see happening is a 123 innning by kevin greg

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

In all fairness it will probably be a base hit, then 1-2-3 inning.

    • The Glider says:

I know. I just want (in the words of Tim Buckley) “a reason to believe.”

    • skylog says:

agreed again. if this is the start of a trend AND the offense starts to come back, well, that is what we have been waiting for. if the offense is forever non-existent from 5-9 then it means almost nothing but (if this is possible) more frustration.

    • WrightsRight says:

The Endy Chavez Catch Rule states that there is no such thing as momentum…

      but i have faith…delgado walk-off coming up…

  331. MetsFan4Decades says:

Man, Heilman has been painful to watch – no doubt. But he’s looking good tonight.

    And Reyes – WOW !

Trade Reyes ??? Those fans are just nuts….Such an arm. He’ll get his head out of the clouds yet. I have faith….

  332. adam11216 says:

    heilMAN!

  333. WrightsRight says:

Figures that the one game Heilman is lights out….

    • backinbusiness says:

      ENDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU ENDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • backinbusiness says:

sorry i have no idea why that posted as a comment to you. i got over excited :)

  334. backinbusiness says:

    NICE JOB AARON!!!
    Jose looked good, too.
    LGM…LGM…LGM!

  335. wa2k99 says:

    Time to Man up…

  336. Mex_17 says:

Delgado is going to be sulking for being benched. He’ll flail at a few pitches and back to the dugout. Don’t waste an out on him.

  337. the Straw says:

I hope willie lets HHHHHamon hit. He is due for a bomb!

  338. metsfan42793 says:

i honestly want to have faith that the mets will come back but i cant see it happening. 1-18 after the 6th innning trailing. hopefully it will be 2-18 but all i can see after today is 1-19

  339. donwkim79 says:

    LETS GO METS>>>>>>

  340. metsfan119 says:

If there are any corked bats in the dugout, now’s the time to break them out

  341. metsforever says:

    Get that brick today.

  342. the Straw says:

    and the JUICE

  343. donwkim79 says:

LETS GO METS> LETS GO METS> LETS GO METS>

  344. wa2k99 says:

It is time to win this kind of a game!

  345. metsfan42793 says:

    LET CASTRO HIT

  346. skylog says:

hell with the corked bats, where is jobu’s rum?

  347. metsfan119 says:

    that was outside

  348. wa2k99 says:

We should have let Castro hit. He can tie it with one swing!

  349. metsfanmurph says:

They better pinch hit for Evans he is completely overmatched

  350. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Chavez up. Automatic out.

  351. Mex_17 says:

    YES!!!!!!

  352. metsfan42793 says:

    AHHHHHHHHHH CHAVEZ

  353. metsfan119 says:

  354. playmaker3128 says:

  355. metsforever says:

    ENDY, Holy Crap.

  356. metsfanmurph says:

  357. dominicanboy08 says:

  358. WrightsRight says:

was JUST about to say I was done with Chavez….HAH!

  359. oklametsfan says:

    METS MAGIC!!!!!!

  360. MetsFan4Decades says:

    YES !! YES !! ENDY !! ENDy !!

  361. metsfan119 says:

I TOLD YOU, METS AIN’T GOING DOWN TONIGHT!!!!!

  362. Dafatone80 says:

Well, I was not expecting that.

  363. Don Hahn says:

Oh my god, just what the dr. ordered

  364. Mingo says:

    hell yeah

  365. Jay says:

  366. wa2k99 says:

  367. ryno says:

  368. metsforever says:

    • oklametsfan says:

up is down, down is up, they say hello when they leave and goodbye when they arrive

  369. gipper82475 says:

    ENDY AND CASTILLO GO DEEP?

Somebody spiked the Gatorade in the dugout!

    WOOOO HOOOOOO!

  370. teufelshuffle86 says:

    HAAAAAAAA!!!!!

I’ll be the first to eat crow!!!

    LET’S GO METS!!!

  371. And……………………ITS OUTTTTTTTTTTTTTAAAAAAAAAAAAA Here

  372. HITorDIE25 says:

  374. Ryan Synagogue says:

    ENDY!!!!

Ya Gotta Believe…we are NOT LOSING THIS GAME

  375. ryno says:

Give the damn curtain call! Gez.

  376. rM teM says:

    I knew that would happen.

  377. mrosey says:

    EN-DY CHA-VEZ

  378. the Straw says:

    The Endy-man can!

  379. metsfan42793 says:

cmon guys lets all say it
    LETS GO METS
    LETS GO METS
    LETS GO METS

  380. wa2k99 says:

I wanted Castro hitting. I hereby eat crow.

  381. playmaker3128 says:

Can’t pinch hit for evans here, short bench. Especially if they go to extras. Gotta trust the kid.

    • the Straw says:

Not true…Evans is coming out of the game anyway. Im sure they keep endy in Left Field.

  382. zen says:

it feels like they’re back. something feels different with the super-subs.

  383. Mingo says:

Win or lose, this team is starting to show some life.

  384. therealsince86 says:

    Why is Evans hitting?

    • Gina says:

      via the playmaker

“Can’t pinch hit for evans here, short bench. Especially if they go to extras. Gotta trust the kid.”

  385. slanginsanjuan says:

god i hate most of you people.

    yeah endy.

  386. skylog says:

oh my god! this is the exact reason i torture myself nite after nite. finally. they have to finish this.

  387. MainStMets says:

lets go c del. WALK IT OFF!!!!!

  388. wa2k99 says:

    Come on Carlos!!!!

  389. metsfanmurph says:

it was about a year ago when Delgado took Benitez deep

  390. Don Hahn says:

why would the Marlins take out Lindstrom, I mean , their closer isn’t that good

  391. backinbusiness says:

Maybe I’ll get that Endy shirt after all.

  392. slanginsanjuan says:

    yeah endy.

and f you. you know who im talking to.

    go mets.

  393. oklametsfan says:

i truly bizarro mets night would end in a delgado walkoff

  394. MainStMets says:

so b side goes in to catch if it goes to the 10th?

  395. donwkim79 says:

Endy will live in MEts Immortality for the catch he made in game 7 in the 06 NLCS… Long Live Endy>>>>

  396. skylog says:

    perfect ending?

  397. The Glider says:

    Go to left field Carlos

  398. metsfan119 says:

    pinch run someone, ANYONE

  399. Mingo says:

This Gregg guy looks like Denny McLain.

  400. MainStMets says:

    good AB for carlos

bring in johan to pinch run

    • Dafatone80 says:

No. Given how the Mets and Marlins almost ended the season on a fight last year, that’s asking for trouble.

  401. slanginsanjuan says:

they are over managing with righty lefty matchups etc. youc an do it to a point but they did it too much. the 2 managers are polar opposites.

  402. Don Hahn says:

    best BB of the year

  403. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Get a runner in there!!!!

  404. wa2k99 says:

I guess no pinch runner. I don’t know if any of our pitchers are decent options.

  405. MainStMets says:

darling just read my mind lol abt johan pinch running

  406. metsfanmurph says:

How about a Castillo gapper and Delgado scores from first????

  407. skylog says:

come on. just a hit jose.

  408. Don Hahn says:

    watch Carlos steal

  409. metsfan119 says:

i get the feeling for the mets to win they have to do it NOW

  410. rM teM says:

130 mill. with a pulled hammy? no thanks, he’s cold now.

  411. skylog says:

give d a bat here, keep it going

  412. wa2k99 says:

    Take two pitches

  413. Mex_17 says:

    YES!!! BALL FOUR!

  414. the Straw says:

I have to say it because its the truth…Willie did not do a good job of managing this inning. If hes going to pinch hit Castro with Endy, then its a given that schneider comes into the game anyway, so why not use him to hit for Evans or use him instead of delgado. It saves you an extra bench player for later.

    • Dafatone80 says:

      Oh come on.

If you’re going to hate on Willie every time a move fails, whether or not it was the right move, you don’t get to hate on Willie when a move works if you think it was “wrong.”

      • the Straw says:

you gotta agree that since you need to bring schneider in anyway…..should have used him to hit.

  415. metsfanmurph says:

    Lets go Golden Boy!!!!!!!!

  416. gipper82475 says:

HAVE to run fro Delgrampa now that he’s in scoring position.

  417. metsfan119 says:

    NICE

  418. metsfan42793 says:

please david please just one time be the hero

  419. Don Hahn says:

that was a very smart at bat

  420. slanginsanjuan says:

2 bad the yankees are winning. i hate that joba guy tooo.

  421. MainStMets says:

    yeah maine!

    i like it lol

  422. MetsFan4Decades says:

    The Maine man running…..

  423. wa2k99 says:

Now a base hit at least has the POTENTIAL to score the game-winner.

  424. donwkim79 says:

    D Wright Time>>>>>>>

  425. The Glider says:

Now, that made sense. Willie = Genius.

  426. backinbusiness says:

DW DO NOT TRY TOO HARD!!!!

  427. metsfanmurph says:

    John Maine????????

  428. teufelshuffle86 says:

Maine coming in to run. Come on Mets!!!!

  429. The Glider says:

David’s going to hit one out!!!

  430. wa2k99 says:

Maine running. OK. Sounds better than Vargas, I guess.

  431. therealsince86 says:

    Shaggy in to pinch run.

  432. cohen1333 says:

    PLEASE DAVID. PLEASE.

  433. skylog says:

please do not get hurt while you score the winning run!

  434. slanginsanjuan says:

if wright does it there are a couple guys here that need to be commended for their wright/mets fandom.

  435. HOFMets57 says:

    Finish it off, David…

  436. wa2k99 says:

    Patience David!

  437. metsfan119 says:

damn, wright rarely comes through in those situations

  438. metsfanmurph says:

    awful AB

  439. gipper82475 says:

Deep breath David, just go oppo field.

No pounding on Maine if he scores the winning run….

eh, so much for that concern.

  440. metsfan42793 says:

wright just looks totally overmatched by righties

  441. skylog says:

    make it easy david

  442. Mex_17 says:

That’s ok, we tied it! We’re winning this one…

  443. MainStMets says:

just missed it, so we get FREE BASEBALL

  444. wa2k99 says:

Ahh. He gave it a ride. Beltran will hit it out in the 10th.

  445. MetsFan4Decades says:

Man, less than 2 outs, we win the game.
Get ‘em in the bottom of the 10th, guys……

  446. teufelshuffle86 says:

Have a feeling this is gonna be one of those 15-16 inning marathons.

  447. cohen1333 says:

i cant explain it, but i feel like we missed our chance. that was it. that was our chance to turn this ship around, to save our season.

  448. backinbusiness says:

    …Still worried about David’s mental health…

    • gipper82475 says:

David has looked like he needs an antidepressant `script for some time now. And, what the heck is with his poor performance vs. RHPs? Very uncharacteristic.

  449. wa2k99 says:

I have a 30 minute drive home from work. I don’t care how late it goes, I’m staying at the office to watch this win!

  450. Darryl Strawberry says:

If we don’t win this game, forget it. This team cannot handle another devastating loss right now.

  451. The Glider says:

Heilman gave us life. Great job by him and Endy. Those kinds of performances are what makes the difference between us being a Division-winning team or mediocre team.

That said, Omar has to make a couple moves.

  452. skylog says:

this one is a killer. they almost have to win this one. a loss here would just be horrid.

  453. metsfanmurph says:

Big advantage here we haven’t used our closer until extras and they have used their closer, best righty, and best lefty reliever.

  454. donwkim79 says:

D Wright Just needs to Relax… Go get em Next time KID>>> Lets support the whole TEAM… LET’s Go METS>>>>>

  455. skylog says:

hold them and carlos gets some karma in the bottom of the inning? ok, i am hoping

  456. slanginsanjuan says:

Billy has no picture on gameday. weird.

    • slanginsanjuan says:

i do love that .43 era although they should take ten saves off his total for that blown the other night.

      • cohen1333 says:

everybody falters sometime….cant get mad at billy. you know he wanted that win as much as anybody.

      • therealsince86 says:

Boy that would be rough. Most closers would finish with negative 28 saves each season.

  457. metsfan119 says:

how did Gonzo ever escape the steroid witch hunt?

  458. donwkim79 says:

    Blow Em Away BILLY………….

  459. cohen1333 says:

i havent seen this much enthusiasm in here in a LONG time, maybe i am wrong. LETS DO THIS. NOW. LET’S GO METS!

  460. metsfanmurph says:

Weird pinch hitting option out of Freddie Gonzalez…. Hanley always scares me

  461. The Glider says:

Does Delgado stay in the game?

  462. metsfanmurph says:

Boy Billy is locked in right now

  463. MetsFan4Decades says:

Two hands, boys – two hands. That’s it….

  464. skylog says:

hanley makes me nervous, come on billy

  465. wa2k99 says:

We’ve done a great job on Hanley and Uggla this series. Absolutely great.

  466. metsfan119 says:

mets really have to win this the next turn at bat

  467. metsfanmurph says:

    slow clap

  468. MetsFan4Decades says:

CLAP CLAP CLAP! STAMP STAMP STAMP !!

  469. metsfanmurph says:

nice job Billy at worst we can get another inning out of him

    • wa2k99 says:

I definitely would use him one more inning against 3-4-5. Maybe get Smith ready in case.

  470. wa2k99 says:

Bullpen is awesome tonight! My only concern is we have no bench now.

  471. donwkim79 says:

    LETS GO METS BABY>>>>>>>

  472. cohen1333 says:

ya know when you get excited, like the endy homerun…im a clapper…i pound the hands…tough break though, i forgot i broke my thumb yesterday in a basketball game…i railed my broken thumb and the tears that came out automatically stopped me from seeing endy round the bases

  473. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Atta boy Billy!!!

Let’s see if one of Beltrans laser beams will drop this time. He’s due.

  474. Don Hahn says:

I know its May, but Wagner looks as good as he ever has with the Mets

  475. the Straw says:

If the Mets dont win it in this inning….can we plleeeaaasssse let Wags throw another inning.

He didnt even break a sweat yet.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

I’m sure they’ll keep him in. If they get to his spot in the order the game should be over.

  476. Mex_17 says:

I think we’re winning this one.

Amazing what happens when they shake up the team a little bit. Just goes to prove that chemistry and hustle do matter, and the manager needs to push some buttons, not just sit there and do nothing for weeks.

    • metsfan119 says:

you may want to wait a sec on your final thoughts

      • slanginsanjuan says:

thats good metsfan…keep those optimistic guys in check. make sure they take no joy before its due. soon he’ll be like the rest of you.

        way early by the way.

  477. metsfanmurph says:

    Logan Keinsling is a clown

  478. gomets6091 says:

    Nice….I like that Willie double-switched Endy/Schneider/Evans.

  479. wa2k99 says:

And as sick as I am to say it, I’m actually very happy with Suppan. Blanks the Braves through 8.

  480. teufelshuffle86 says:

Come on Beltran. Take a pitch!!!!!!!!

  481. wa2k99 says:

There’s your emotion you’ve all wanted to see.

  482. metsfanmurph says:

Santana may have to hit at some point

  483. donwkim79 says:

I LIKE the Fire CB showed after he popped up… LETS GO METS>>>>

    • Don Hahn says:

I agree, this idea that he doesn’t care is crazy, the guy is just so fluid, that it looks like he’s not playing hard

  484. Koko says:

What is with these Mets? Heilman cheering from the dugout, Beltran throwing his bat in disgust, Endy hitting a game tying HR. . .

  485. iluvbuckner says:

Any possibility of an Esix Snead walk off homer?

    • Don Hahn says:

      now thats old school

      • iluvbuckner says:

It may have been april or may of 02 or 03 and I was in the front row…some old guy who sat there gave us tix to get down there in right field. And snead had his only highlight of his career with an 11th or 12th inninf walk off.

  486. metsfanmurph says:

You have to throw Wags in the 11th. It shouldn’t even be up for debate

  487. metsfanmurph says:

Lets go Tatis pretend Chan Ho is pitching

  488. cohen1333 says:

LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!
LEAVE WAGNER IN! LEAVE WAGNER IN!

  489. WrightsRight says:

can’t look at pitches that close

  490. gomets6091 says:

I meant to post this about 6 innings ago, but forgot: I think my favorite thing about this batting order is the back-to-back John Williams intro music for Tatis and Castro (Superman theme and Imperial March). For a geek like me, that’s pretty awesome.

  491. teufelshuffle86 says:

Come on Tatis. What are you waiting for?

  492. the Straw says:

Looks like Sanchez is coming in….Should have kept in Billy.

Pedro went 6 innings tonight. gave up 2 Runs.

  493. Darryl Strawberry says:

    Must win!

  494. teufelshuffle86 says:

Grab your popcorn kids, we might be here a while.

  495. donwkim79 says:

    Support the METS>… Dirty time….

  496. gipper82475 says:

Not sure I like Dirty in this situation. Would’ve perferred a second inning from Wags or Smith.

  497. wa2k99 says:

    Sanchez? I don’t know…

  498. miker94 says:

bad thing is that the fish are only good at one thing, hitting homeruns, so this could be bad for the mets.

  499. metsfanmurph says:

How about an Endy walk off

  500. donwkim79 says:

Dirty will come through… He’s got Good Stuff….

  501. wa2k99 says:

I think I want Cody Ross to get beaned.

  502. metsfanmurph says:

Sanchez is the best option since Wagner couldn’t go one more inning

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Like I said above, all three batters are right handed. Had there been a LHB he might’ve pitched the 11th.

  503. wa2k99 says:

BTW, when did we start calling Duaner “Dirty?”

  504. metsfanmurph says:

A Santana walk off would be legendary

  505. donwkim79 says:

LETS GO METS>>> LETS GO METS>>> LETS GO METS>>>

  506. EliPorter says:

    LETS GO

  507. MetsFan4Decades says:

YES !! 15 Ks for Met pitching.

  508. WrightsRight says:

    Please end this game already….

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

Yeah, what’s the limit on Blog comments? Hope to not find out. Put it to bed this inning.

  509. the Straw says:

    DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY

  510. backinbusiness says:

Hey, is anyone else totally enjoying a Met game?!

I forgot what this feels like!

  511. donwkim79 says:

Wow This Win Will be the BEST MET WIN OF THE YEAR… Total Team Effort…. Great Baseball…. LETS GO METS>>>>

  512. gipper82475 says:

Niiice. I wasn’t thrilled with bringing Dirty in, but he got the job done. Just hold your breath with him right now as he is far from his old self. That changeup is a heck of a weapon though, even if his heater is, er, more tepid than it used to be.

  513. metsfanmurph says:

A few sit ups wouldn’t hurt Sanchez… Pedro and Castillo too

  514. metsfanmurph says:

They looked so miserable singing that

  515. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    another Endy HR??

  516. MetsFan4Decades says:

HAHAHAHA – Check out that clip for Ed Sullivan show.

    YOU GOTTA HAVE HEART !!!

  517. sandiegometsman says:

Can’t even watch this game on TV.. watching on ESPN gamecast but this is most lively that i’ve seen blog in long time… We need to win this game tonight… This would be a huge, huge win for Mets… Come on boys

  518. adam11216 says:

5 IP no hits for the pen tonight.

  519. GregB says:

The Mets HAVE to win this game….i know, lots of baseball yet to play…blah, blah, blah…what i mean is they’ve show a flicker of life these past two games and i think it would be crushing to lose this one after so many good things have happened.

oh, and i hate oliver perez.

  520. Mex_17 says:

    ENDY!!

  521. cohen1333 says:

We got the teamwork! To make the dream work!
    LETS GO! LETS GO METS!!!

  522. miker94 says:

every single pitch i’m literally on the edge of my seat. this is killing me, but is WAY better than not even being close to winning. this is how it should be, fun, exciting baseball….of course with the perfect ending as a mets win!

  523. adam11216 says:

    endy comes alive!

  524. metsfanmurph says:

Endy is this teams version of Mookie

  525. wa2k99 says:

    Braves lose!

  526. Don Hahn says:

    time to steal my friend

  527. teufelshuffle86 says:

    LET’S GET HIM IN!!!!

  528. wa2k99 says:

Wait a few pitches, then send him.

  529. donwkim79 says:

Endy Chavez = MONEY PLAYER>>>> I”LL go to War with this guy any Day…

  530. metsfanmurph says:

Why not just run??? Why hit and run???

  531. wa2k99 says:

    Ouch.

  532. Don Hahn says:

I love Schneider, but let the guy run

  533. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Ohhhhhh!!!!

  534. wa2k99 says:

Putting it all on Reyes’ shoulders. OK…. Get the bunt down

  535. Mex_17 says:

This pitcher is too comfortable throwing at Mets. The Fish need to pay for this next time they play.

  536. metsfanmurph says:

    nice bunt dirty!!!!!!!!!!

  537. m00kie says:

please tell me someone noticed the hit n run .. and then noticed it doesn’t always equal lots of energy and runs.

    • gipper82475 says:

For somebody with the screename of Mookie to downplay the hit and run is sacrilege!

      • m00kie says:

lol nice .. twas a reference to a terrible thread the other day where someone argued all day that the mets never hit and run, and presented it as some panacea to their problems.

  538. gomets6091 says:

I’d be more pissed about that if it didn’t happen to Olsen before…

    Nice sacrifice

  539. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Come on reyes!

  540. wa2k99 says:

    Duaner was legging it!

  541. Mex_17 says:

Ugh. Castillo…Crap…Sorry, no confidence in this guy at all.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

I didn’t have any faith in Endy tonight either. Look where that got me.

  542. metsfanmurph says:

Castillo is an RBI machine for the bizarro Mets

    • Mex_17 says:

LOL…ok…maybe you’re right…and he can also run like the wind…maybe he beats out an infield single.

  543. adam11216 says:

    man i love sanchez.

    • cohen1333 says:

      sanchez is THE MAN:

      in port st. lucie

ME: duaner, what do you make of Jimmy Rollins

DIRTY: EFF that guy. First time I see him he is getting HIT.

thats a man who loves his team, and hates rollins…like us!

  544. backinbusiness says:

Dirty looks like a different man w/o the glasses and hat!

  545. wa2k99 says:

Be thankful we don’t face Lowe next series. He shut down the Cubs.

    Let’s Go Castillo!

Actually, I’m thinking a walk and Wright slams it to the warning track.

  546. the Straw says:

    Castillo equals Hero???

  547. backinbusiness says:

Castillo walkoff get it done Omar!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  548. Flushing_is_Burning says:

    slappy McHomerton?

  549. therealsince86 says:

I would have ph Santana and let him swing away. You know if you bunt then they walk Reyes and put the bat in Castillo’s hand.

  550. adam11216 says:

sandy alomar looks like he’s about to steal home…

  551. metsfanmurph says:

Let’s go you little old man

  552. Koko says:

Mets need a walk off win like I need a Xanax.

  553. Mex_17 says:

We need a fluke hit here.

  554. metsfanmurph says:

    unreal

  555. WrightsRight says:

go figure, hardest ball he’s ever hit from the left side…

  556. gipper82475 says:

    sonofamotherlessgoat!

  557. Don Hahn says:

I thought it had a chance

  558. andyglass1 says:

will they pitch around this Luis ville slugger again to face Wright, like they did last time around ?

  559. MetsFan4Decades says:

Oh, man. Don’t know if I can take another inning….

  560. wa2k99 says:

    I’m running out of fingernails.

  561. therealsince86 says:

    Too hard.

  562. metsfanmurph says:

He can’t hit a ball better from the left side

  563. teufelshuffle86 says:

He hit it hard. Can’t ask for much more.

  564. WrightsRight says:

i just don’t like giving the marlins too many at-bats….way too dangerous

  565. Mex_17 says:

Ugh…I’m starting to lose confidence in this game. We had two good chances and the Marlins are due now.

  566. the Straw says:

Please Mets please win this game. I dont care how. Just win it.

  567. Darryl Strawberry says:

Fire Willie! He managed them right out of that inning. He calls for a hit and run on the first pitch. You have to give Chavez a chance to steal there. Damn!

  568. Mex_17 says:

C’mon Sanchez, get this leadoff guy.

  569. teufelshuffle86 says:

Win or lose, at least this team is finally showing some heart in this one, something we haven’t seen much of this year at all. They actually look like they want to win this game.

  570. playmaker3128 says:

93 from sanchez. Great sign. He’s looked great these past two days. Averaging in the 90’s with that fastball.

  571. miker94 says:

i’m not dogging castillo, but he looks like a retarded kid trying to hit when he swings from the left side. switch hitter, shmitch hitter, screw it, always bat from the right. he has so much more of a compact swing where he drives the ball. i know it won’t ever happen but i can dream can’t i?

  572. Mex_17 says:

Did anyone here watch that July 4th game in Atlanta in the 80’s that went until 3:50 AM? I did, and it’s starting to look like that.

  573. wa2k99 says:

    Message sent.

  574. WrightsRight says:

    unreal

  575. Don Hahn says:

    how did that happen????? c’mon

  576. EliPorter says:

    what are you gonna do?

  577. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Oh, No. I can’t be….

  578. gipper82475 says:

    This isn’t our year.

  579. MainStMets says:

again w the long balls, this team cannot ctach breaks

    they look lifeless now

    great grand wonderful

these 2 bit hitters torch us

    RAWR

  580. The Glider says:

Geez, Duaner throwing great and Ameziga never hits home runs … ugh.

  581. wa2k99 says:

    You cannot be serious.

    • sandiegometsman says:

Yes, seriously…. this is just insanely disheartening… How this team blows games to obscure hitters… Man, that’s a freaking dagger… OUCH!

  582. WrightsRight says:

    i hate this marlins….HRs or nothing….such punks.

  583. playmaker3128 says:

Wow unbelievable, didn’t agree with giving him another fastball there.

  584. teufelshuffle86 says:

Sanchez was looking dominant up until that HR.

  585. m00kie says:

    craptastic

  586. therealsince86 says:

Something that may never happen again. Castillo, Enddy and Amegeza HR on the same night.

  587. metsfanmurph says:

It’s almost comical at this point

  588. metsfan119 says:

UN-FKING-BELIEVABLE, this team is so snakebit it’s scary

  589. metsfan42793 says:

    i feel like crying

  590. gomets6091 says:

I love Cohen, but seriously, can he just never speak again in close games? “Sanchez looking as good as he has since the surgery”…BOOM”

    • gipper82475 says:

Yeah, it’s all Gary Cohen’s fault.

Geez, grow up. Or, join Willie’s group therapy for those afflicted with paranoid delusions involving SNY.

      • gomets6091 says:

did I ever blame Gary? I think you’re the one who needs to grow up. I thought it was pretty clear I was being facetious.

    • cohen1333 says:

i love gary as well. we share the same last name, but he does seem to tempt fate. that said, cant blame him for thug-4-life hitting one out in a lucky spot.

  591. WrightsRight says:

    devastating…completely devastating…..

  592. teufelshuffle86 says:

    Let’s get it back!!!!

  593. zen says:

    g-d: “i hate mets fans.”

  594. EliPorter says:

    peaks and valleys….

  595. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Go after them bullies now…..

  596. wa2k99 says:

19 straight were retired. And we get Robert Andino the sequel

  597. Steve in DC says:

    Phuking GARY JINXED IT!

    • m00kie says:

so ridiculous. He’s been talking about how great the bullpen was since Heilman was pitching. How did he not jinx it for the last 4 innings

  598. cohen1333 says:

did you see that dance in the dugout and amezaga’s hair…i now DESPISE him and his ridiculous thug hair…put him up there with clemems, burrell, rollins, steve avery and chipper

  599. miker94 says:

    and that’ll do it folks

  600. metsforever says:

At least they put up a fight, sort of. Face it, this isn’t the year. Maybe we should just reach acceptance and try to enjoy the games. It would sure be easier.

The gods, or whoever is watching these things have decided that the Mets aren’t winning under any circumstances.

  601. donwkim79 says:

    IT”S Alrighty BABY… LETS GO METS>>> LETS GO METS>>> LETS GO METS>>>

  602. metsfanmurph says:

I don’t know why I do this to myself

  603. Don Hahn says:

we got the main guys coming up, I mean Wright is so due, he’s done enough talking, now its time to put up, and Beltran, he just needs a little lift, he’s been hittimg it hard enough

  604. The Glider says:

I refuse to give in to defeat. Even if we lose this game, I believe. I refuse to stop believing.

  605. playmaker3128 says:

hopefully we have another comeback in us. Beltran is owed a hit from all the liners he’s hitting.

Positive though no matter what, bullpen looked great tonight. Sanchez was throwing the best i’ve seen since 2006, one bad pitch. Heilman looked great.

Now lets win. We can hit this guy. Cmon wright you gotta get on base.

  606. Mex_17 says:

You know, if the team plays with heart like this, I’ll take it, even if they are going nowhere this year.

It’s better than the sleepwalking losses we’ve seen since September.

And we still have 3 outs.

  607. metsfan42793 says:

this is how the inning will go
    wright pop up
beltran line drive t first base
    easly fly out to center

  608. WrightsRight says:

reminded me of Yadier Molina…horrible hitter making the Mets pay. Breaking hearts, dashing hopes, pissing on dreams. Always the Yadier Amezaga’s of the world that will jab a pool cue fhrough the Mets hearts…

  609. skylog says:

making fun of jose was pretty nice too. i hate the marlins. i hope they come back even more after that crap

  610. Darryl Strawberry says:

We are destined for last place. Amezaga kills us every series. C’mon! This game was over when Willie left Perez in to pitch the 6th. It was so obvious he was going to implode, but Willie knows his players. I want to puke as usual.

  611. donwkim79 says:

METs will get a rally going baby this inning… Come BAck>>>

  612. metsfan119 says:

    take some pitches guys

  613. metsfanmurph says:

Come on DW lets put together a nice AB

  614. playmaker3128 says:

    Take a strike wright.

  615. teufelshuffle86 says:

They need to be patient here and not try to tie the game with one swing.

  616. wa2k99 says:

We need the leadoff man on. Get Miller rattled

  617. metsfanmurph says:

Ok Beltran take a strike here

  618. Don Hahn says:

    bunt for a base hit

  619. wa2k99 says:

    Take 1, but that’s it

  620. The Glider says:

    I BELIEVE!!! Who else believes?

  621. playmaker3128 says:

Ok leadoff walk, can’t bunt here. Beltran is due!

  622. metsfan42793 says:

if beltran lines out to first and it ends up being a double play i will cry till there is no tomorrow

  623. cohen1333 says:

    NO DOUBLE PLAY!

  624. SantanaCYYOung says:

    dp by beltran watch

  625. Mex_17 says:

    Steal a f-ing base!

  626. teufelshuffle86 says:

4 STRAIGHT BALLS. TAKE A PITCH CARLOS!!!!

  627. wa2k99 says:

They’ll probably get Tankersley up now.

  628. the Straw says:

4 pitches not even close. Please take a pitch carlos and dont bunt.

  629. metsfan119 says:

Ron’s right, don’t swing until he throws a strike

  630. wa2k99 says:

    Make him pitch a strike.

  631. metsfanmurph says:

Miller is shook, he can’t beat us we can only beat ourselves

  632. teufelshuffle86 says:

    TAKE ANOTHER PITCH!!!!

  633. The Glider says:

This guy is hittable. Just be patient.

  634. gomets6091 says:

I swear, Cohen’s the kind of guy who’d walk up to a pitcher and start talking to him about his no-hitter in the 8th inning…

  635. Don Hahn says:

right thru that hole between 1st and 2nd

  636. metsfan119 says:

    ok, you can swing now

  637. playmaker3128 says:

Cmon beltran go the other way.

  638. metsfanmurph says:

I got a good feeling about Beltran here

  639. wa2k99 says:

If were were still tiued, Ids steal. Not when we’re down.

  640. The Glider says:

Carlos, what are you swinging at?

  641. mets19 says:

this game really is reminding me game 7 against the cardinals

    • cohen1333 says:

i know what youre saying…endy is the hero, mets give up a big homer…that said…NO COMPARISON. AT ALL

  642. metsfan42793 says:

gary is such a curse. y doesnt he say how miller is pitching good then beltran hits a homerun

  643. teufelshuffle86 says:

Watch the curveball in the dirt!!!!

  644. metsfan119 says:

    surprise us Carlos, blast one

  645. The Glider says:

make him come to you Carlos

  646. darkstar73 says:

man instead of complaining about every single pitch, maybe you guys should try actually ROOTING on your team, instead of criticizing every single damn thing.

  647. metsfanmurph says:

    send him

  648. The Glider says:

    Yeah baby.

  649. WrightsRight says:

    stop gary, just stop

  650. metsfan119 says:

i hate sending david with the way Beltran lines out all the freaking time

  651. Mex_17 says:

    He has to run here…jesus…cmon

  652. playmaker3128 says:

Beltran be patient! cmon man. force him to throw a strike.

  653. sandiegometsman says:

    Come Btran.. comeon

  654. teufelshuffle86 says:

I take it the fact that Santana has batting gloves on means we are out of bench players.

  655. Dafatone80 says:

    Send Wright.

  656. wa2k99 says:

    This is the time

  657. Don Hahn says:

    Please, beautiful piece of hitting

  658. gipper82475 says:

    Huuge. Now get em in!

  659. The Glider says:

    I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE

CARLOS, TEACH ME HOW TO DO THE MAMBO!

  660. metsfanmurph says:

    nice job Beltran

  661. Mex_17 says:

1st and 3rd, what do we do now?

  662. metsfan42793 says:

alright now cmon easley. when he hit that it hought hanley would catch it and throw it to first

  663. Jefferies 9 says:

If Wright wasn’t running Hanley catches that …

  664. teufelshuffle86 says:

    YAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

  665. MetsFan4Decades says:

YES, CARLOS !! DO IT NOW, GUYS !!

  666. wa2k99 says:

OK, this is good. I really wish we had Alou here!

  667. playmaker3128 says:

YEAH! Just a quick note, if wright aint running that probably caught (again) by an infielder. In that case ramirez.

  668. cohen1333 says:

    LET’S

  669. metsfan119 says:

PLEASEEEE METS get this runner in

  670. sandiegometsman says:

Yeah.. have faith boys… WE NEED THIS… LETS GO BOYS!!

  671. Mex_17 says:

We got a rookie pitcher warming, we have to WIN it here…

  672. therealsince86 says:

    Beltran has to take 2nd.

  673. adam11216 says:

get. the. ball. in. the. air.

  674. donwkim79 says:

    METS Magic BAby…

  675. metsfanmurph says:

I disagree with Ron it looks like Miller is slow

  676. The Glider says:

    Work the count, Easy

  677. wa2k99 says:

They wouldn’t dare settle for one here, would they….

  678. cousinrk says:

The tide must be turning a line drive by Beltran and no one caught it. I was sure he was going to turn another DP

  679. teufelshuffle86 says:

Heads up on the bases fellas!! Beltran should be on 2nd.

  680. metsfan119 says:

    now I wouldn’t take

  681. Mex_17 says:

BEltran can take 2B, they won’t throw through with Wright on 3rd…

  682. metsfanmurph says:

I think Beltran should look to steal

  683. playmaker3128 says:

Easily you gotta shorten up, make contact here.

  684. metsfan119 says:

oh jesus, if he freaking strikes out…..

  685. metsfan42793 says:

    please dont strike out easly

  686. The Glider says:

Make him throw a fastball over the plate.

  687. cohen1333 says:

if easy k’s…then you have to squeeze willie!

  688. metsfanmurph says:

    Rameriez’s positioning is strange

  689. The Glider says:

Gotta go to right field with that.

  690. metsfan42793 says:

    wow

  691. Mex_17 says:

    UGH…no..terrible

  692. metsfan119 says:

    of course….

  693. WrightsRight says:

    dammit

  694. adam11216 says:

    worst. case. scenario.

  695. The Glider says:

Bad at bat by Easley. Impatient at the plate.

  696. playmaker3128 says:

OMG. wow. Cmon easily. Now tatis. Gotta make contact. We cannot squander this. Beltran has to look to run

  697. metsfanmurph says:

I guess they are trying to find the most heartbreaking way to lose

  698. Don Hahn says:

    how do u strike out?

  699. cohen1333 says:

    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEZE PLEASE.

  700. oklametsfan says:

have to send beltran at some point now.

  701. Mex_17 says:

    This is the game here.

  702. Dafatone80 says:

    Send Beltran

  703. gomets6091 says:

I can’t take this team with runners in scoring position. They needed ANYTHING but a strikeout there, even a friggin 6-4-3 would have been acceptable.

  704. Mex_17 says:

Do the Mets ever run with the game on the line?

  705. The Glider says:

    Gotta steal second Carlos.

  706. cohen1333 says:

    WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can the Mets build on this? I don’t know.

    But, damn, we needed that.

  742. MainStMets says:

beltran runnning like a horse from 1st to home…beautiful

  743. crclark79 says:

MY GOD WE NEEDED THAT. By far most exciting/fun game all year.

  744. Alban says:

We can trade FMart for a top of the line pitcher… we have the Fernando we’re looking for!

  745. metsforever says:

    Dear Willie,

    Tatis doesn’t need a rest.

    Sincerely,

    Met Fans

  746. Ryan Synagogue says:

Full CIrcle baby. Thank you Tatis. LETS GO METS

  747. gomets6091 says:

    I freakin love Fernando Tatis

  748. Jefferies 9 says:

    Effin Goose Bumps …

  749. darkstar73 says:

    BELIEVE

  750. m00kie says:

  751. metsfanmurph says:

  752. Mex_17 says:

    Delgad-WHO???

  754. Steve in DC says:

    WE’RE BAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!

  755. zen says:

g-d: “i love mets fans again.”

  756. skylog says:

    yes!

  757. wa2k99 says:

Wow. Wow. Wow. This is the kind of win we have needed for 6 weeks. I think it’s time for us to ride.

  758. SunsetParkBK says:

This is the kind of play we have been begging for!!!!

  759. darkstar73 says:

KEEP THE FAITH, this is STILL your team

  760. cohen1333 says:

how cool was it to see jerry manuel hold tatis’ arm up like he just won the heavyweight championship

  761. wa2k99 says:

Willie managed this team to this win!!

  762. GregB says:

    I remember this…it’s METS BASEBALL!!!!

    Finally.

  763. The Glider says:

2 of 3 from Florida. Let’s carry that momentum and take 2 of 3 from the Dodgers. Is Jay Penny pitching against us???? : ))))))))

  764. Mex_17 says:

God, that was great. Awesome game!

  765. the Straw says:

Best win of the year. HUGE. THis has got to be the start of something.

  766. donwkim79 says:

Best Game of the YEAR for the METS>>>> This is a TEAM WIN…. Everybody contributed Everybody hustled… This is Winning BAseball…. FERNANDOOOOOOOOOOOOO>>> LETS GO METS BABY….

  767. wesdp1988 says:

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 YESSSSSSS!!!!!! LETS GO METS

  768. mets19 says:

Delgado woulda hit into a DP in that spot. RELEASE HIM WE DONT NEED HIM!!!

    • Don Hahn says:

after such a great win, that’s what you have to say, Delgado will be important to this team, he’s just not a everyday player anymore, neither is Tatis, but he just made himself a Met tonight

  769. Alban says:

It feels like the Mets again…

    BRING BACK THAT LOVIN’ FEELING!!!

  770. Wondy says:

    Absolutely awesome. Everything we needed.

  771. teufelshuffle86 says:

Hopefully this will be the kick in the as they need. This team must keep winning. Winning is contagious. Can’t come back and lose 2 of 3 against the Dodgers. Gotta keep up the intensity.

    Great win.

  772. therealsince86 says:

Ok where are all the nay sayers, you Strawberry,? Why do you guys post all negative comments and kill every one including Willie but then disapear after a great win.

    LGM.

    • darkstar73 says:

they won’t make another post tonight, pathetic…they only love losing. All along I thought fans watch baseball because of wins, not losses.

      • therealsince86 says:

They get some kind of vindication from it. Like they can at least be right when we lose. If we win, they turn this off and they can celebrate like everyone else. If we lose, well at least they told us so.

        • Mex_17 says:

Honestly, most of the Met fans who have been bashing Willie and Omar have been doing so because they are disgusted that the team was doing nothing to try to get a spark.

As soon as Delgado was benched, EVERYONE was energized. I had a totally different feeling about the team, and the energy level.

This was exactly what all the “negative” fans have been demanding for the past 2 months.

I’d rather battle and maybe lose without Delgado than sleepwalk with him.

    • Mex_17 says:

Don’t go there. Willie could have benched Delgado a month ago.

Just be happy with the gut check win! And let’s go Mets!

      • therealsince86 says:

I am not so sure he could have. I think he was affraid to because of Tony and Omar. I think at the meeting Willie said you want me to save this team then you have to give me control of it.
Prove I am wrong about this, neither of us know.

  773. playmaker3128 says:

So many positives from this game. The fight that this team showed. And the bullpen. Brilliant work tonight. Scho was good again. Heilman and wagner were filthy, and even though he gave up the HR, sanchez looked almost in 2006 form. Great win!

  774. gomets6091 says:

Tatis just made up for being my 2nd round draft pick in my fantasy league in 2000

  775. Don Hahn says:

that was awesome, that was such a character win which we haven’t had in about 2 years

  776. The Glider says:

    Brad Penny tomorrow night.

    • professor met says:

I was just jumping up and down as if we’d won the world series. Re: Penny…If memory serves me right, we pretty much have owned brad penny over the last 2 years. Someone correct me if im wrong.

  777. sandiegometsman says:

My goodness, honestly when was the last big Mets hit? Before this game obviously… I pray that this team builds from this game and i don’t have to bitch about seeing Delgado do absolutely nothing…. Fernando is my man….

  778. cousinrk says:

Straw now has to wear that god awful suit, its a good luck suit.

    • Jefferies 9 says:

The problem with Straw is he’s still wearing the suits that he thought looked good when he played 10-15 years ago …

  779. the Straw says:

    who me?

  780. mavicario says:

    WoW!!!

I really hope this is the turning point cause I can’t take anymore

  781. Steve in DC says:

    HOLI MOLY I BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!

EVEN DEL-CRAPPO DIDN’T MAKE AN OUT.

    • ParisWilponCOO says:

what’s our record when del-CURSE-o doesn’t start? gotta be at least 70% wins

  782. iluvbuckner says:

    Simply put….

    YA GOTTA BELIEVE

    (at least for one night)

  783. miker94 says:

that was one of the greatest baseball games i’ve ever seen. maybe it’s because it was such a needed victory for all mets fans, both in the standings as well as morally. either way, it feels so damn good and tonight i can go to bed very, very happy!

  784. iluvbuckner says:

I’m buying an orange jacket right now.

  785. the Straw says:

Tonight the Champagne tastes that much sweeter.

  786. wesdp1988 says:

Lets get on a roll…… by the way, Beltran ran like a gazelle there 1st to home

  787. zen says:

    in super subs we trust

  788. bludev17 says:

    love it!

by the way, hate to be a downer, but i replayed the tatis play 5 times and the only player not to be found in the celebration? delgado. can we just go ahead and cut him?

    • iluvbuckner says:

Where’s the trumpet sound, Debbie Downer?

      Wom…woooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmm

  789. LIMetfan74 says:

Great win but we have seen the win two loose two lets hope that this changes that.

  790. adam11216 says:

2 comebacks in 1 game. that freaking RULED.

  791. C Dubb says:

This was a great ballgame. Even if they had lost, they showed so much fight.

They reminded me of a little slogan this team used to have…something like: YA GOTTA BELIEVE!

  792. metsfanmurph says:

We are now on a winning streak men

  793. teufelshuffle86 says:

As Lou Brown said in Major League, “we win again tomorrow, that’s called a winning streak. It has happened before.”

  794. MetsFan4Decades says:

Heilman, Sanchaz, Wagner, Chavez, Wright, Beltran, Tatis.
So many heros tonight., touch to remember them all. GREAT TEAM EFFORT !!

  795. WrightsRight says:

Such a huge win. THIS is the type of win that can create some momentum…blowouts are nice, but wins like this, that test everyone where it’s all on the line, etc…

    mojo risin…

    • Don Hahn says:

mojo risin? we need a new tune, you’re right, this is what we saw in 06, and 86, now its what we see in 08

  796. grotesmask says:

    OMFRKNG! GOD!!!

    I am elated!

This really could be the point…

Two days ago I was ripping Tatoos, and now this; I love it. God bless him! Man, did we need this one!!

Now can we please have our Mets season back!

  797. DMAT89 says:

Delgado is a selfish prick if he wasnt celebrating, maybe if he did what Tatis just did, he would be on the field..

  798. ccmetfan says:

Just like I said Mets would comeback when they were down 5-4.
Delgado should be a team player and stay benched.
    LETS GO METS!!!!!!!11

  799. Lets give willie credit for pitch hitting chavez and sending wright on the 3-2 pitch

  800. wesdp1988 says:

I have had nothing to get excited about this season…. now that I have something, I feel like driving to queens to cheer the team out of shea

  801. Mingo says:

Gotta give a game ball to Heilman he earned it as well. Awesome job Aaron.

    • Don Hahn says:

you’re right Aaron was great, and I felt like the crowd is now into this team, just by this blog alone, I’m into it now, I’ve been waiting since Sept 07 for something like this, it was like a exorcism tonight

  802. HOFMets57 says:

Staple the pumpkin jacket to Jay Horowitz’s body.

  803. metsfanmurph says:

Willie managed this game much more differently than he has managed the entire season. He hit and run, took pinch hitting risks, and managed an aggressive game.

  804. rusty shackleford says:

Just came back from dinner, what happened?

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Watch the replay. Proabably will be better than explaining it to you.

      • rusty shackleford says:

I know, I was joking, I saw the whole thing. That was so sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

    • dominicanboy08 says:

you missed one of the best games in years for the mets

    • gometzies_18 says:

yeah – great game. End hit a pinch homer in the 9th to send it to extras. Duaner gave up a solo shot in the 12th, but Wright got a walk, Beltran singled him to 3rd, and Tatis got a doulble to score them both and walk off

      Bullpen was awesome

  805. toomanyuniforms says:

What can you say about Tatis? That’s a guy that had tasted success, but seemingly lost everything. He put in his time down at AAA, earned his way back, and, for at least one night, won back the adulation of thousands.

It’s possible — and we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves with one eeked out series win, at home, against an overachieving team — but possible that the Mets CAN win with Willie Randolph. He just had to evolve with his ballclub, and trust the likes of Tatis (hunger) over the likes of Delgado (complacency) and hit and run once in a while, and pinch hit, and actually manage.

Oh, and the bullpen finally performing didn’t hurt either. . . .

    • Don Hahn says:

I agree, something must have been dealt with at this meeting on Monday, maybe about his managing style, being more aggresive, thats been my problem with him, I guess thats why Delgado was so angry on Monday, with Heyman, lets use the bench, sit Delgado againt lefties, this team had speed, lets use it, we have the advantage of being able to play many styles, especially when everybody is healthy, good to see Aaron pitch so well

  806. gometzies_18 says:

WOW This team looked like they had FIGHT!!!

Willie did a GREAT job tonight – give credit where it is due. He managed the bench/bullpen beautifully.

That said, the bullpen was insane. It was nice to FINALLY see what it looks like when all the guys bring what they can on the same night. Except for Sanchez mistake they were freakin perfect

Delgado – GOODBYE Yeah, he had a good at bat drawing a walk. So let him do that for the rest of the season. When everyones healthy maybe he can platoon with Tatis, if Delgado can hit.

    Otherwise, start Tatis at 1B

Big win tonight AND they looked really good doing it. Finally.

LETS GO METS! LETS GO METS!

  807. playmaker3128 says:

Listen, delgado is probably upset, thats human nature. Who cares if he’s pissed, i think its great, maybe it will fire him up a little bit. Its better than the listless attitude he’s shown lately.

  808. Ryan Synagogue says:

I dont know why, but I had that positive feeling all night. Even when they were losing. Maybe because these guys were showing heart all night, even when down.

i guess sometime ya just gotta believe. Now kick those Brooklyn-leaving, yankee-managed, 1988-robbing, early fan-leaving, piece o crap Dodgers @$$es

  809. wesdp1988 says:

willie randolph – ” Delgado will probally play tomorrow” <<< DAMN IT

  810. wesdp1988 says:

” i think we’ll bust out, hopefully im a prophet”- willie randolph

  811. playmaker3128 says:

I love it, delgado will “probably” play tommarow. Gave himself an out if he doesn’t want to play him. Willie benching delgado showed me something. His jobs on the line. He’s saying, i don’t care if my players like me anymore, but if they don’t wanna play hard for me there gonna sit. Some managers don’t get along with some players. Thats just how it is.

    • Mex_17 says:

If Willie always “trusts his guys”…I guess the players who came through tonight are not “his guys”???

Seriously, if he is still going stick Delgado right back into the lineup, he is an idiot, and just doesn’t see what is right in front of his face.

  812. wesdp1988 says:

i don’t care how much money somebody is gettn paid, what their career numbers are….. if they are not peforming, playing hard, or being a team player. then it is the managers job to give them a front row seat on the bench. Id much rather see somebody with the right attitude and who plays their butt off.

    • pessimetfan1 says:

wow just wow, i cant wipe the smile off my face..this is such a damn good feeling i kinda wish they had a few days off just so we can savor it for a while. i dont know if its delgado on the bench or what , but we are finally seeing energy and emotion thats we’ve been dying to see from this team. heilman cheering on from the bench, beltran throwing his bat in disgust and sanchez busting it to first on the bunt. even castillo last night was pissed of when he got out. gimme more of this baby!!!

  813. playmaker3128 says:

I disagree. Delgado has to be back in the lineup. Evans hasn’t hit much lately and even know i want the kid to play we gotta win ballgames. Tommarow endy and tatis are your corner outfielders. Delgado starts at first vs the right hander. Delgado should play, but if he continues to struggle vs left handed pitchers you platoon him.

Heres something interesting. Despite our struggles, were 1 game behind atlanta, 2 behind philly, and 4 behind florida in the loss column. Now lets take at least 3 of 4 from LA who haven’t exactly been playing great ball lately.

    • teufelshuffle86 says:

Unfortunately I agree with you. However the demeanor of this team is completely different without Delgado in the lineup.

    • adam11216 says:

yeah – you ‘ve gotta give delgado a chance to show something now that the team is playing well.

  814. teufelshuffle86 says:

Got the Dodgers, Giants and Padres next, all teams at or below .500. If they can string a few wins together they’re right back in it. Things could be a lot worse the way this team has looked for the past month. Plus the Mets usually play well on the west coast. Great time for this team to get hot.

  815. Ryan Synagogue says:

Oh man I just saw a creepy looking CG Jose Reyes commercial for the Snack Squad, presented by WIse chips.

What a snub to Matt Wise
