Mets Triple-A RHP Adam Bostick underwent season-ending knee surgery on Tuesday and will be out for the year.
In case you’re wondering, 29–year-old RHP Matt Lindstrom has a 2.75 ERA in 23 appearances for the Marlins this season, during which he has struck out 12 batters and walked eight in 19 innings pitched.

Lindstrom.. has unbelievable nasty stuff, a flame thrower. I would love to have a guy like that in our pen. (besides Wagner)
Indeed. It’s surprising to me that he has only 12 K’s in 19 IP.
Strikeouts aren’t about throwing hard. Santana gets a ton of strikeouts off his changeup.
I understand that, but most guys that throw as hard as Lindstrom K more batters.
that usually means the guy lacks a good or even decent offspeed pitch. It’s all about timing. If I’m looking for 100mph fastballs all the time and getting it, I’m definitely going to make more contact than if I’m guess between a 100mph fastball and even a change that clocks at 90 mph.
Never understood the series of trades that took place that off season. Never ever got it.
Do you mean when we traded 2 raw bullpen power arms for 2 younger but fringe-y and possibly AAAA starters? And then traded a guy we considered our #5 starter the previous year for a raw bullpen power arm?
Why didn’t we just not make those trades and go with the guys we already had? I have no idea.
Matt Lindstrom had an attitude and only threw a fastball. Credit the Marlins for improving his repertoire. Henry Owens (the other pitcher in that deal) has some of the worst mechanics ever. He makes Kerry Wood look like Cal Ripken Jr.
Both Lindstrom and Owens were older than Vargas and Bostick. They were also right-handed relievers while Vargas and Bostick are left handed starters. We know Omar likes to scout and acquire lesser known minor league starters. He acquired a young right hander from the Orioles known as John Maine.
Bannister is not as good as he was last year (look at him this year). He doesn’t K enough and will fade. Burgos was a young flamethrower with a lot of talent. The Royals gave him horrible mechanics (which caused his injuries) and misused him as a closer (he did not have the mindset for one, at least yet). He pitched well when he was with the Mets in 2007. If he comes back (and probably will since TJ is very rarely career-threatening), he has the talent to be an impact in the pen).
This injury is a shame. This kid was on the short list of pitchers to be called up when we needed a starter a couple of weeks ago, and now his season is done.
I guess this is better than what befell Geremi Gonzalez, who was struck by lightning and killed last week.
what happened to the minor league recaps? Where they not generating enough hits for the sponsors?
Jose Valentin, Brandon Knight, and Juan Padilla have been added to the AAA roster, replacing Bostick, Muniz, and Brady Clark who also had season ending knee surgery.
The Zephers had won 4 or 5 in a row, but have lost 3 in the last two days. They’ve used 7 different starting pitchers in the last 8 days… Pascucci goes 1-4, 1 HR, 2 K’s just about every day.
Bingy can seem to string together many wins, but Caleb Stewart has stepped up in the absens of FM and Nick Evans. Parnell and Neise are still very up and down from start to start.
St. Lucie has been a disaster. Last night they got a decent start, but the pen blew it.
in Savannah Scott Moviel continues to have a hard time just getting to 5 IP on a regular basis. While fellow LHP’s Calero and Antonini continue to be impressive.
Joe Smith is better anyway
That’s a shame. Bostick was finally gaining some control over his fastball and curve and starting to repeat his stride. I always kinda thought Jason Vargas was trash, but was really pulling for Bostick, who basically struggled with his control last year but just needed to get it back.
Oh, and Bostick is a LHP, not an RHP.
Lindstrom was sucking in AA when we traded him. Everyone seems to forget that. If not actually sucking, then he wasn’t very good.
Owens was the guy who everyone was upset at losing, and he’s been hurt since.
