Oliver Perez: Thinking Change-Up

O-Perez definitely doesn’t make it easy for fans to stand by his side. If either a player or coach is not within site of Perez in the dugout, than it’s probably very safe to say that he doesn’t deserve fan support.

I’m without a doubt confident in his potential to be a consistent, ERA-friendly winner, so I remain along side other Mets fans who can only hope for his mind to get right.

The poor body-language, slumping shoulders, and miserable control, have all blended together and formed a win/loss column which is leaning quite heavily to the right.

I do feel confident that Pedro’s return will make a positive difference other than when he takes the mound. Moreover, his lead-by-example, relaxed, and confident demeanor should cause a domino effect throughout the bullpen and dugout. We have to believe that O-Perez looks-up to Pedro and Johan, thus, I’d like to trust how it’s only natural for Perez to want and perform admirably in-front of them. Nobody wants to let down their teacher/leader, so let’s hope I’m right about O-Perez.

In comparison – I used to practice martial arts when I actually felt in shape a few-years back, and I clearly recall my desire to consistently win approval from the Master (also called Sensei in certain martial arts forms). Furthermore, I wanted to be the best and prove to myself that I could accomplish things that I never thought were possible.

Additionally, I vividly remember the positive feeling that I received each time the Master showed signs of approval, respect, trust, and how I noticed the times he was proud of me. I did it for myself – and I did it to make my teacher proud of me.

I hope the young players can focus on learning from their teachers, while respecting them to a level of wanting to please by way of positive production. Let’s see if O-Perez can show signs of focus, on-the-mound leadership, and commitment.

I think the Mets will be sellers this year as they will be out of it fairly early. Sorry I'd like to believe but this team just doesn't seem to 'have it'.

Not subtle enough to be Boras. After he engineered that whole A-Rod thing from behind ALL the scenes, he really got me scared.

He's not done, he's just neurotic. Up his Lexapro a bit, give him some Xanax on top of it, & you'll be surprised at how fine he pitchers.

I didn't know that. Thanks!

The Pirates were a lot smarter than us : they had enough and dumped him. He's a lost cause. Trade him for a bag of balls.
