First of all, Maine looked good, for a while, is slightly difficult to analyze since “A While” was really only 5-innings. In addition, it doesn’t necessarily seem too fair, when your bullpen pitches almost the precise amount of innings as your starter.

I have a slight issue with a Mets’ pitcher being completely analyzed when they don’t even make it to the 6th-inning.

I've heard that Water Polo players are in the best shape of any athletes. They're also playing with like 9 uniforms on (at least early in the match.) I'd also throw gymnasts, boxers, decathletes, and John Daly in there.

You're right about Beer Money, it's terrible. I'm seeing no heart and definitely no skill. Here how to fix it:

1. Fire both the hosts. Chris isn't TV-ready and Julie is downright nasty to the guests. I'm not sure what's going on behind the scenes with her but she's so dark and depressing it's like watching Louis Anderson host Family Feud.

2. Make K-Berk the host, the guy knows how to hold a mic, he's an expert at Mets history and he's quick on his feet. He also has that "aww, shucks" appeal backed by a big brain. It's kind of slumming for Kev, but he needs to buck it up and do it for the network.

3. Actually screen the contestants. Not before they play, but in the editing booth. Have more contestants participate but only put the ones on the show if they have some pop (See Cash Cab, they do it right.)

4. For the love of Mr. Met, put some production credits behind this thing. Give the audience a Pavlovian intro song and more in-game stats, info, and anecdotes. Maybe cut-away to archive tape that compliments the trivia in question.

5. $10 for a question is "Beer Money?" Not a Shea. That buys one beer with tip. They have to up the ante, put their money where their mouths are, go for broke. Make a goal to be $100 or $200 per contestant, topping out at around $500. The biggest hit of the '90s wasn't "Who wants to be a Hundredaire."

Anyway, that's my take on fixing Beer Money.

I was at the game last night and most fans I spoke to could not believe that willie pulled maine after 5 innings! So he was at 100 pitches why the hell did he not go out for one more inning? Vargas???? Willie is a dope....He just keeps giving games away...Get him out of town forever and throw petersen out with him!

I don't think him bringing them back very quickly is an excuse. If anything I think that was his biggest mistake. He tried to build a house with no foundation. Now whether that was a poor decision and poor long-term thinking on his fault or he was forced to do it because of pressure from the Wilpons I don't know but don't think it should be an excuse for the state of the team now.
