To be honest, looking at those scores, it pretty much says the pitching was horrible for the most part. We scored plenty of runs in many of those loses.

I agree with the backinbusiness that this is misleading. First of all, merely citing what Wright's and Beltran's batting average was during an unspecified amount of at bats isn't enough to me to show Alou's impact on other players in the line up. Yes, I'll agree that in limited time Alou had a very good year, but Church has basically replaced his production.

Alou (328 ABs): 13 HR .341/.392/.524
Church (180 ABs): 10 HR .300/.365/.522

Alou alone will not change this team. If the mets were lucky enough to have them both healthy and in the line up at the same time, I would be thrilled.

My bad -- the Mets won 5, lost 1, won 4. Alou did not play in the intermediary loss and I was looking at his gamelog.

Thanks.

I wonder what the mets record with Endy in is... probably like 48-188.

Just a guess.

Actually they did not win 9 in row coming into the dates you mention. Going into the final 17 games however (beginning with the Sep 14th game against PHI.) the Mets had won 10 of 12 to stretch their lead to 7 1/2 games. Then came the unthinkable.

BTW the longest winning streak the Mets had in 2007 was 5.

exactly, Mets need to admit that they're short a cleanup hitter and move Beltran the the 2 hole where he belongs
