Now just picture the creative losses and booing crowd!

    • magic00700magic says:

      Matt:

Any idea when the Mets will start providing current holders with there seat location in the new stadium?

      • reyesnwright says:

I was told by my rep that they would begin calling season ticket holders in a few months and it’s been about 2 and a half now. Hopefully we’ll hear soon.

        • saltzy007 says:

I asked a rep outside the Preview Center and he told me August….

That may have been a slight misstep, huh?

“Hey, we know you are sitting on thousands worth of useless tickets for this year, but we just wanted to call and determine how much you are gonna be forking over for next year”…should have been done already

They are gonna have a lot of angry customers on their hands, not like theres much we can do….

I gotta think that with the current situation partial plans may have a chance to continue now…

        • reyesnwright says:

So what do you think they are going to charge for say, the Promenade Reserve Infield level seats (which are the closest equivilent to my upper section 5 seats)? I hope that it’s no more than double, but I wouldn’t be surpised if it is.

        • Pancakes says:

Supposedly, the top of the line season ticket holders have already been contacted. $80K for two tickets. (That’s 2 seats, $500 a ticket).

I cannot wait for my nose bleeds.

        • saltzy007 says:

Well…I assume that they are gonna use the ‘tiered’ system, like they do now…so I dont know if you can just blurt out a hard number…

The UD Reserved this year are $5, $10, $20, $25, $35 ea…and a total of $1440 per seat, for an avg of about $18 per game…

Im thinking something like $10-15, $20-25, and $40….and just get rid of the other ranges…season will be like $1650-$1800, and the avg game like $20-$25…

          But thats TOTAL speculation…

        • There's Always '09 says:

If you look closely at the stadium, it is very realistic. There are about as many fans in that “preview (making quote hand gesture just like Dr. Evil saying “laser beam”)” interactive 3-D gadget as there will be come, say July of next year.

        • Mackey Sasser's Arm says:

I think they are required by MLB to offer a certain number of $5 tickets over the course of the season. I mean, that’s still $5 too much for this team, but it’ll help keep the total cost down for those of us in the upper deck.

  2. ghobot says:

creative losses. its like a rube goldberg machine.

  3. saltzy007 says:

The nicest stadium for a dogsh*t team that money can buy….

Although seats on the RF overhang are gonna be some of the toughest tickets in all of baseball….if not sports

Have to say though, my excitement over Citi Field has been tempered greatly with how this season has gone so far….

Maybe the new digs can be a catalyst for the ‘new culture’ that this team desperatly needs. I think Shea may have given us all of her great moments already….

    • Felix the Cat says:

      <>

You said it Saltzy. I bought full season tickets this year for the first time mainly because of the new stadium and am already reconsidering on next year because of how much angst this team has caused me this year. It’s a shame because it should be an exciting time for Mets baseball but this club is just too disappointing and it’s really tempered any enthusiasm that existed for Citifield.

    • cropseymonster says:

The culture will remain the same as long as Little Jeffy is running things

  4. metsfan119 says:

It’s fitting that the stadium is empty.

  5. jedimynd says:

I’m propping my fat arse on that right field porch. Just need a catchy nickname for the fans there..hmm.

    • Mr. Mets Butler says:

      How about the:

      M iserable
      E ndlessy
      T ired
      S ouls

        • There's Always '09 says:

          How about:

          The Hangover Overhang

        • jedimynd says:

sweet..i’m getting my Sunday ticket plan once avail.

Proud member of the Hangover Overhang Gang.

        • There's Always '09 says:

It would be nice to inject some rowdy fans at the game. Or we could start things like they did in Philly with “Padilla’s Flotillas” (although I doubt they used the possessive form of Padilla’s instead of the plural form), “The Wolf Pack”, “Chase’s Chicks”. Instead, we could be the Garbage Pail Kids version:

Burrell’s Squirrells (if he isn’t a Met next year)
          Cole’s A-Holes
          Howard’s Cowards
          Pedro’s not Martinez
          Rollins no Dave Hollins

  6. JefJarrett says:

Do they have enough pricing levels……….wtf

    • TheIcon says:

Every new stadium has these kind of pricing levels. This is very similar to what they have at Miller Park.

      • There's Always '09 says:

ah…that combined with the pricing levels per game. looks like a yankee game in mid june on the promenade level will cost roughly $235.75/ticket. that’s before you buy a beer. happy drinking!

  7. garykeithron says:

wow, i guess i’ll be the first one to have something positive to say here. Very cool website.

  8. iluvbuckner says:

    WHERE’S THE APPLE!!!!!!!

  9. Mr. Mets Butler says:

Why have an apple if we hit only 1 homerun every ten games?

    • rustysribs says:

Maybe they should have a crab apple instead.

    • There's Always '09 says:

Maybe they should use the worm from the rotten apple.

      • There's Always '09 says:

Or if Willie gets fired and is still on the payroll, we could always dress him up as an apple. He’ll be on the same program as Keith. Show up every 5th day.

  10. barryzito says:

It takes some serious balls to put that post up right now. Does anybody actually care about this place? Beyond the fact that the team is awful right now, its going to be a personal shrine to the Brooklyn Dodgers for the Wilpons. I mean, its geared toward corporations (I heard they refer to fans as clients), have fewer seats which will be more expensive so the real fans won’t be able to go.

    • Roach2 says:

Yea….a guy whose name is BarryZito…..great insight

      I, for one, care.

      • barryzito says:

i am the one good decision this team made in the past two years. you honestly mean to tell me you are excited about this stadium? I’d ask if you work for CitiGroup but they’re laying everybody off now and if you had any job where you would be getting tickets you wouldn’t be posting on here, you would be working.

until this team shows they are actually dedicated to winning and not just presenting an image of winning and invincibility i don’t want to hear anything about citifield.

in fact i think they should put a big cover over it to relieve some pressure from this team, maybe its just putting too much pressure on these guys to see it everyday and know how much is expected of them rather than just playing.

        • soma138 says:

Why are there Ebbets Club seats and no Shea Club seats? This ownership needs to recognize the NY Mets fan base a little more. Always going back to the Dodger days.. The Dodgers are in LA, the Mets are in Queens. Give it up.

        • There's Always '09 says:

They did say they plan to honor Shea in some way. Hope it isn’t cheesy.

        • giuseppe franco_procede says:

I have to agree with you. I noticed the “Ebbets Club” seating and couldn’t help but scratch my head! The last I looked the name on the jersey said, “METS”, not “DODGERS”! WTF? Wilpon, we get it…You grew up a Dodgers fan, while based in Brooklyn. They moved, get over it! Move on! This is a Mets town, not a Dodgers town. If that is the case, the Dodgers home would be at the rail yard.

    • TheIcon says:

I just don’t understand the continued negativity of these comments. If the Mets cause you that much stress in your life then don’t watch and don’t come on here to spread your misery. After living among Red Sox fans for almost four years and now living in Chicago, Mets fans are definitely the most negative I’ve encountered and that negativity continues to hurt this franchise.

That being said, I don’t think Citi Field is geared towards corporations or is a personal shrine to the Brooklyn Dodgers. The real fans are still going to be at these games. Why? Because if you are a real fan, you find a way for it to happen. All these new stadiums have affordable tickets. I don’t think that is going to change.

And so what if there are less seats. The only time that is really going to matter is if the Mets are playing the Yankees or Phillies. Shea Stadium looks terrible when there are 35,000 people watching a game versus the Nationals in April. It will look better in Citi Field.

And I still don’t understand what the fuss is with the homage to the Brooklyn Dodgers. They are a big part of New York’s history. Yes, the owner has an infatuation with them. But what do you expect? He’s from Brooklyn and went to high school there. Add in the fact that Jackie Robinson is one of the most important figures in American history and that’s why you have the rotunda.

Should the Mets recognize their past? Yes, but there really isn’t much to recognize. You have a pitcher who has distanced himself from the organization. The franchise was terrible for the first seven years of its existence. There were some very dark seasons in the 90s. The Mets had one good seven-year stretch (1984-1990) when they were contenders and should have won two or three titles. There are memories scattered here and there, but the Mets aren’t the Yankees and Cardinals when it comes to history.

Citi Field will be good for the Mets. It will be a constant revenue source if there is a good product on the field and I think the Mets are shifting their organizational philosophy based on the recent draft. This will work themselves out in the end.

    • Ceetar says:

Do you care about Shea? I do, that’s why I care about the Citi. I care about the Mets home. (In a big picture, outside of ‘this year sucks’ view) Sure, it’s geared towards corporations and rich guys, but that’s just good business. If they didn’t do that, it becomes harder to make money, harder to compete with big tiem free agents (don’t give me crap about ‘didn’t work this year’) It guarentees more money for the team even on bad years, and good business means the ability to make good baseball decisions

That said, I enjoy the place because as much as Shea is memorable and nostalgic, it’s a freaking dump and I look forward to the beauty and comfort of the Citi. Oh, and it’s only really Ebbets field style in the facade. It’s good that they’re honoringthe history. Although the comment below about ‘Shea club seating’ or whatever was a good point. How about Polo Grounds seating too, as we came from the Giants too, and even played there.

      • TheIcon says:

Who doesn’t care about Shea? I very much do. I’ve had the honor of seeing the other side of Shea: the small clubhouses, the crappy press area, the dark crevices beneath the stands, the damp smells. Citi Field is not only about making money. It’’s about providing an attractive facility for free agents and draft picks. I don’t that’s something people take into consideration.

  11. TheIcon says:

Any news on standing room only tickets?

  12. TheBigStapler says:

Yep, looks like a baseball field.

    • saltzy007 says:

      Wow…

Now look, I HATE this team right now, but give the place some credit…

It has the nicest entrance to any park in MLB, it cost $800 Mil….its the first park with an overhanging RF porch since Tiger Stadium….what exaclty WOULD impress you(outside of a winning team calling it home)

Unless you’re just a dont appreciate the difference between a Ferrari and a Chevy, thats a pretty ridiculous statement….

      • barryzito says:

what would impress me would be if they honored mets tradition. if they kept the apple and built a stadium that teams would fear coming into, not one they look forward to coming to because of how comfortable it is for their friends and family in ny.

shea rocks, the stadium was literally moving during the playoffs last year. why would you want to lose 10k fans and price out so many people. its going to be a much different atmosphere, which is more important than a RF porch.

        • ToastyJoe says:

“shea rocks, the stadium was literally moving during the playoffs last year.”

Oh crap…did make the playoffs last year after all? I knew that collapse had to be a bad dream… How’d we do?

        • barryzito says:

nice catch, bad typo… i guess i have done a better job about erasing last years collapse from my memory than i thought.

        • saltzy007 says:

I must have written this, ohhhh…10,000x already, but what the hoo..

OK…see how many people are at Shea these days? Remember the mid 90’s? These situations are what ‘businesses’ call ‘worst case scenerio’s’….you think companies sit around and say “Our product is flying off the sheves!!!….There’s Demand!!!….There are people that want it that cant get their hands on it!!! WERE SCREWED!!”….

          Ummm, nope…

They Mets(for the millionth time), are just making sure that in the event they run a bunch of losers on the field(see 2008 team), that there are still people in the stadium, and there is SOME demand. They dont care about how loud the crowd will be for a playoff game that would have sold 200,000 tickets anyway…

I know evvvereyone hates to hear this, but the Mets are entertainment for you and I…..They are about the bottom line for the interested parties that own a piece, or have a vested interest….period. This is their GOD GIVEN RIGHT, whether you agree with it, or not… Winning is simply a means to that end…

          • barryzito says:

absolutely, all i am doing is expressing my “god given right” to say i dont really want to hear matt peddle the stadium for the Wilpons while this team is doing so poorly. If you want to talk about it from a business perspective, you cant ignore your customer and not pay a price.

        • The only entertainment the Mets are providing these days is for opposing fans.

        • saltzy007 says:

I agree. The other side of doing business is that the customer can choose not to give you their business. That part of the equation is your GOD GIVEN RIGHT…

As a business you just hope enough people fork over money to put you in the black. If people don’t you lose money. Its that simple.

        • Ceetar says:

as has been stated, and has been known for over a year, there will be an apple at the Citi.

      • TheBigStapler says:

Actually, you’re right. The new stadium is going to be beautiful and I’m really looking forward to it! I was attempting to be comically irreverant but maybe during this touchy era it wasn’t so… appropriate.

  13. ness589 says:

Higher prices, fewer seats, shrine to Jackie Robinson and the Dodgers, and a crappy team. Can’t wait for 2009!

  14. Felix the Cat says:

By the way, if anyone wants 2 free tickets for tonight’s game and is willing to pay the $4 that the Mets charge for their ticket transfer shoot me an email at tomzpc@aol.com
They’re UR Section 11 Row E on the aisle. I’ve eaten a bunch of games lately and I have a feeling I’m going to be eating a bunch more before this year is over.

  15. floydsbrickinthewall says:

Yep, I cant wait to see Citi Field empty by midway through 2009. I might be able to snatch some seats there.

  16. Lets_Go_Mets says:

With Jackie Robinson getting a tribute in the rotunda, how about a tribute to Mel Ott in right field entrance?

    • saltzy007 says:

I give up with these posts too..

Hey champ…the all white jerseys they are gonna be wearing are gonna look pretty bland without the blue we stole from the Dodgers and the Orange we stole from the Giants back in 1962…

OH…no hats either being that its Dodger blue, and the old Giants insignia…

I wonder if when they were established in 1962 anyone had issues with this stuff?

      • Lets_Go_Mets says:

In 1962, the Mets first owner Joan Whitney Payson (a NY Baseball Giants fan) acknowledged both the Dodgers and the Giants. Fred Wilpon is not making any attempt to honor the rich NY Giants history with this stadium.

        • Tidewater says:

I’ve met one NY Giant fan in my entire life. He was living in LA when I met him.

        • Lets_Go_Mets says:

Would a Mel Ott statue in the right field entrance really be too much to ask for? He played his entire career in New York, he has pretty much been forgotten, and there is nothing at all to honor him in San Francisco besides his number having been retired.

        • Deadpanwalking says:

I haven’t met any, but I’ve seen a (somewhat blurry) photo of one on the internet. It looks ’shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and from having seen quite a few ’shops in my time.

        • sheaheykid says:

my father grew up a NY Giant fan, as did his good friend who know is a San Franciscio Giant fan. Maybe you live in Brooklyn and don’t get out much. There are plenty of remaining NY Giant fans/former fans. They are as much a part of the Mets homage to NL baseball as the Dodgers. You’re just being an apologist for Wilpon’s Dodger obsession. BTW how torn do you think he was when we swept his beloved Dodgah’s in ‘06? I’m so sick of everything and everyone associated with this mess.

        • metsfanatic says:

OK I know this might sound revolutionary but how about a tribute to the NY METS! I want to see tributes to the 1969 METS. I want to see the 1986 METS. The 2000 METS. I am sick of this Dodger Giant Crap. Ebbets seats should be Seaver seats. There should be a statue of Tug McGraw. A statue of Darryl Strawberry. A statue of Mike Piazza. We should have the Koosman restaurant. There should be tributes to Gil Hodges (I know a dodger) but also one of the greatest Mets Managers, Casey Stengel, Davey Johnson. Is this heresy? Are you listening Wilpons!

        • drodro22 says:

          AMEN!

  17. metsfanatic says:

Hope it looks nice on TV. All I’ll be able to afford.

  18. RetireNumber17 says:

Wow, I checked out the nosebleeds down the RF via the computer animation, and the view is seriously obscured. I’d say 1/4 or so of rightfield and the foul line are out of sight. I hope the animation isn’t THAT realistic, or a game out there will be like watching from thr 7 train platform.

    • keystonetom says:

Thats to your benefit. Thats less mediocrity to behold.

    • Ceetar says:

Rightfield seats overhang right field. It’s a feature not a bug.

Personally I’d rather see everything, but some people do enjoy that.

    • JNGordon says:

I kind of walked around the stadium and viewed the virtual views of the field. The seating down the line is so close to the field, many of the views from seats are obscured from seeing the corners. Unless you are close to the home plate to 2nd base axis, you have serious issues seeing the corner.

  19. Tidewater says:

Anyone know where the Citifield bullpens are?

  20. saltzy007 says:

I’ve posted this before, but if anyone wants to know any of the specifics just go to baseball-fever dot com…

The ‘Parks, Stadiums, and Green Diamonds’ link has a thread with 3,500 replies, pics, etc….its the best place to go if you wanna read up on the place….

    Some really good pics…

  21. Can I get my seat at First Base? I know there in no one there right now.

  22. garykeithron says:

poor matt. did you have any idea what a firestorm you were getting into when you made this nice post?

  23. PeterDragon says:

It looks good, but it’s a little tough to be too excited with the depressing play lately. If they announce that they will allow us partial ticket holders to get a similar plan at Citifield, it will peak my interest more.

    • Ceetar says:

Taht would be nice..I’m not expecting much more than at best first pick at a ‘7 pack’ or something ofthe like.

    • Kayemtee says:

It’s a little hard to get excited by the new park when I’ve been a Saturday plan ticket holder since 1985, have great seats in the loge, and the Met’s haven’t even promised me a seat anywhere in the park, let alone anywhere near as good as what I have. What about team loyalty to loyal, long term customers?

      • pleschitz says:

Just sent the Mets an E-mail today. Been a Saturday Plan holder since 1986 also have loge seats. Got a response right away. NO DECISION HAS BEEN MADE AS TO PLAN TICKETS. Boy they really care about us don’t then

  24. ebfnyc says:

i love how the whole upperdeck is “reservred.”

    where is my loge section?

    excelsior?

    how gay

    citay field

  25. drodro22 says:

I’m a Mets fan b/c my grandfather’s team was stolen from him (Dodgers)……But what was more important than the name of the team, was the CITY in which that team played: New York…….I respect the J. Robinson rotunda, but I’m sick of the Wilpons and their ignoring METS tradition…..
