Video: Video Player Doesn’t Work
By Matthew Cerrone - Jun 14, 2008 8:34 am

for whatever reason, some of the embed video on this site has not been working of late…this is not isolated to any one browser…it’s something else, but i can’t figure it out…i’m working on the problem…

…in the meantime, i will try to always add a link to the bottom of the post, which will launch an old-school, pop-up video player…

…sorry for the inconvenience

No problem, Matt. The fact you embed the video FOR us is greatly appreciated.

By the way, what’s your position on Willie. Stay or Go?

Matt made a post last night that said, either fire him or don’t, but the twisting in the wind is getting ridiculous.

FYI, the link doesn’t work for me either, just sits there with the SNY logo “Loading..”

Link works fine for me in I.E. On Firefox, I’m missing pluggins that prevent the link from loading. Don’t know what browser you’re using but missing pluggins could be the problem…..

The braintrust at SNY are not the sharpest tools in the shed. I wrote to them twice last March about putting flash embed codes on their videos so that bloggers could embed them on their own sites. I explained the benefits to them in that they would have increased traffic, generate more of a Mets community spirit, and finally, get free advertising on other websites by adding a 10 second network spot at the begining of each video. Their response… nada, zero, zilch.

They think they know it all, yet media giants like MSNBC, FOX, and ESPN understand the benefits all too well and have been sharing their content with embed codes for years. Why is it that anything associated with the Mets always has that second class citizen feel to it?

Instead they resort to third party software like mediaplex and twistage to deliver content that is erratic at best, and use java snippets instead of embedded flash players. Idiots….

Just because you own a network, it doesn’t neccesarily mean you have the smarts, foresight, and innovation to grasp the obvious.

I even told them they could generate revenue by preceding each video clip with a 20-30 second ad from one of their many crazy sponsors like Procede, but noooo, they don’y need advice from their adoring public. Just think we could have had Giuseppe Franco alive and kicking on all of our sites.

They really are a joke though…

Does anyone really watch Playing for Peanuts?? SNY is ironically the equivalent, “Running A Network For Peanuts”.

And now we return you back to “Beer Money” which is already in progress.

    • dykstraw II says:

i dunno why SNY isn’t showing an old mets game every night. no one wants to watch crap like beer money.

but 20-30 second ad clips? i wouldn’t have the patience for that.

  4. Joe D says:

I agree dykstraw, but I threw that into the email I wrote them because anything with dollar signs attached to it, usually would get the Mets’ or SNY’s attention. Either way it didn’t matter because they never responded.

While we’re on the subject of web site issues, when you try to look at the site on a mobile phone using Windows Mobile 5 – in my case a Samsung BlackJack II – there is a script error on the main page dowload.

It attempts for quite some time to load and then you get the script error with an Abort or Continue option. If you select abort, the screen rapidly fills.

    This is quite annoying.
