Note: Schneider on WFAN at 12:45 pm
By Matthew Cerrone - Jun 17, 2008 12:49 pm

Mets C Brian Schneider will appear in his weekly spot with WFAN today at 12:45 pm EDT.

Update12:40 pm

According to WFAN, Schnieder will not appear as a guest today.

Instead, he’ll be on air tomorrow.

…this makes sense…i mean, the Mets cannot have any one commenting in public before the actual press conference…that said, i was really hoping to hear what he had to say

How much is he wishing he did not have to be the first to publicly speak about this?

You miss the playoffs in what is now known as the “worst collapse in team history”. Cost the Wilpons (your boss) 135 million dollars in playoff money. Then, they give you an opportunity to go out and get off to a fast start, you fail. Your team fails. You cost the Wilpons (your boss), even more money. The media defines class. We are all along for the ride. I can care less what the story line is. Middle of the night, covert operation, etc. Guy got fired for not adding 3.5 mm dollars of value and costing the fans and the owners a championship.

Knuckles, you should stop with the math.

I don’t think anyone is debating why he got fired but you have to be completely obtuse not to recognize that it could have been handled by the front office in a much better manner.

really? should it be? at a large firm, some executive blows all the company’s money and the workers get stuck being fired. Is that classy? There is no such thing as a classy firing, what’s done is done.

Who is going to take over his spot on Clint Hurdle’s bench at the All Star Game?

He is allowed to coach, even still….

The worst part about that is he is going to get the loudest ovation at Yankee Stadium. It will be enough to make me sick, as I had to deal with 3.5 years of Yankee fans saying they didn’t want him, etc.

I really don’t think anyone involved wants a sideshow involving an honorary bench coach. He’s not going to the stupid all-star game.

Um…whomever Hurdle names to replace him.

This is literally the most insignificant side-plot to this whole thing. We should feel bad that Yankee Willie doesn’t get one more triumphant return to his “home” in the Bronx?

I am sure Hurdle named Willie as a nod to the Mets and the game in NY. So maybe he names Manuel to replace him. Or maybe he opts for a deserving manager like Charlie Manuel, Lou Piniella, Tony LaRussa, or Bob Melvin. Someone whose team is over .500.

In the end, I don’t care. The game is going to be borderline unwatchable anyway with its overbearing tributes to Yankee Stadium and unavoidable Jeter love-fest. And we’ll be lucky to send more than the required one representative. Maybe Johan can go if we stop blowing his wins.

I don’t know, but please don’t put Isiah and Willie in the same handle. Isiah completely destroyed a franchise. Willie helped turn ours around.

We have reached respectability. Well, we had reached it until this fiasco. Isiah is the architect and hard-hat in the demolition of the Knicks franchise.

i guess when you’re 54, most ballplayers are keeedz. unless julio franco is on your team. then he is your brother.
