In a bullpen full of soft-tossers, side-armers and specialists, Aaron Heilman is the only guy capable of doing what he did last night – coming into a tough spot, man on third, less than two out, and get two K’s against two excellent hitters.

Not fooling someone. Not striking out a bad hitter or a power hitter who whiffs 150 times a year. Not beating a guy with nobody on. I’m talking about facing a great contact hitter like Vlad – in a man-on-third, less-than-two out situation where he’s shortening up and trying to just put the ball in play, and being able to get three swings and misses anyway without so much as a foul ball.

I know Heilman’s had a bad year, but all the people who want him gone need to remember this – if the Mets bring in ANYONE else in that spot, at the very least, the runner on third scores.

Beating the Angels in Anaheim and doing it in pretty complete fashion.Pitching,Hitting,fielding.I mean Delgado had a few excellent defensive plays and Pelfrey covers first extremely well.They played this game like they wanted to win.
Ask the Yankees about playing in Anaheim,
Oh yeah-The Phillies kicked the Red Sox’s asses.There is a long road ahead.Play one game at a time

Actually, people do object!

If the post-game’s an hour late all the haters come out and start whining “Where’s the post-game Matt!? You’re getting sloppy! This isn’t professional!!!”

If it’s out right as the game finishes, another (or the same?) set of whiners come out and complain about minor mistakes or querks in the post.

Personally, I don’t care. The site’s fine however Matt implements things.

That was a damn entertaining ballgame. I like how the Angels play. They were aggressive, and that made the Mets aggressive. Guys were all over the place trying to make plays.

This is why, no matter how many time he breaks your heart, you gotta put Heilman out there. Two stars of MLB and he fanned them like they were minor league nobodies.

By the way, as far as i’m concerned if we win one out of the next two games nobody should be fired come thursday. Thats if we end up taking 2 of 3 from one of the best teams in baseball.

I think you give the coaching staff the colorado and mariners series. See how the team plays against a couple of bad teams, teams we should beat up on, but haven’t all season. Against bad teams we’ve struggled for some reason. Evaluate the coaching staff during those.

Good game today. Great offense, good starting pitching from pelf again, good bullpen work with the exception of feliciano.
