gary cohen sounded almost suicidal after that first inning last night. i was at the ’86 parade when i was 8 years old, but i have not gone to a game this year and don’t plan on it. caring about this team is a waste of time.

At least I feel somewhat vindicated for being one of the few posters yesterday that thought the whole “classless circus” nonsense yesterday was way overblown melodrama. And it was driven by th emedia, because they were POd that everything wasn’t done based on their wishes.

Anyone notice that amidst all the “breaking” coverage of a story more than 12 hours old, they could not find a slot for the only relevant baseball show on the station, Playing for Peanuts? Pre-empted on Sunday and Tuesday. We had Loudmouths, Wheelhouse, Mets in tranistion (with everyone from Loudmouths and Wheelhouse). Lost to viewers was the story of the man who should be managing these Mets now that Willie is gone, Wally Backman. Google “Wally Backman Petition” and let them know you want a real NY Met at the helm.

I agree with your assesment of Beltran. I probably should have worded my comment differently and said he comes across with a lack luster attitude. Don’t get me wrong, as I mentioned above I really do respect him. There is no doubt he is very talented. However, if it was my choice though, I don’t think I would build my team around him. Not without several other players already on the team who have leadership skills and do show heart. Then Beltran probably would probably perform very well and not be under so much scrutiny.

With the current Mets team I think there is an expectation of him that may be too much.

i know – that was weird that he posted it briefly and took it down. maybe everyone was trying to post curse words
