Note: Frequent-Flyer Miles for the Mets
By Matthew Cerrone - Jun 18, 2008 10:50 am

According to John Delcos, in the Journal News, “By the end of this trip, the Mets will have traveled 21,611 miles since the beginning of May.”

basically, that is like flying around the entire planet

…at any rate, the good news here is that the Mets will not make a single trip to the West Coast in the second half, while other teams will…in fact, the furthest they will travel is Houston on a short road trip…so, hopefully that helps

Wouldn’t it be better to do a 2-3 week road trip and do the max amount of traveling at once?

No. The more trips the better. Players love being tired when they play. I hear it makes most people perform better!

The cost of Oil is actually at an all time low so taking many different cross country trips wont cut into the profit of teams making ticket prices go up.

If you do a 2-3 week road trip then you save money. And this isn’t a business. This is just a game. They do not care about how much money they make as owners. They just want to see the game played to best ability.

too bad they didn’t actually fly around the planet, it might have turned back time like superman

Why travel 3,000 miles, when you can suck on the eastern side of the country?

You never know, the Mets might have to go back to Anaheim in October. I guess i’d be okay with another west coast trip like that.

      PPP….HAHAHA….

You’re more of a “hopeless idealist” than the president…

Read Maureen Dowd’s OpEd in the Times for clarification….

i love how everyone makes willie flying to california to be such a dramatic thing by saying he traveled 3,000 miles. i know that it was a gutless move to fire him there, but i love reading and listening to ppl talk about it, as if willie had to walk the 3,000 miles.

as long as we’re going with that comparison, Willie Randolph was a much much better leader than the president.

I still think the Mets could do it. they’re certainly talented enough. Will they figure out what their roadblock is? Only time will tell.
